Just wondering can you use just normal food flavouring from the shopping market instead of having to buy them from a vaping supplier? Its just its a lot cheaper like from say woolworths. I can get some of the flavourings for about $3 AUD for 100 ml which seems to be a lot cheaper than from a supplier.
It really depends on how dedicated you are to using those first off they're not likely to be as potent so that hundred ml might be equivalent to a 30 milliliter you would get through a shop dedicated to vaping. It might not actually be saving that much money though it is convenient. But the main issue is that you need to know the exact ingredients and while buying it from a vape related shop does not necessarily mean you're going to automatically know what's in it however they have a higher reason to tell you what's going on because they know that if there's something in there that can hurt the lungs and they don't tell you you could get hurt and not just you but anyone else that uses that product so as I've seen on a lot of sites they will tell you if it is oil soluble or water soluble. If you can absolutely verify the ingredients and know that there are not any no no ingredients like oil I don't want to say you can use it but I suppose you might be able to. No matter where you get your flavorings you just got to know what's in them so ask the manufacturer for their spec sheet or something before you use it

There's one flavor vendor who's done extensive safety testing, and they make a peppermint:

Agree. When I vaped flavors I used Flavorart mostly. I was wary of cooking flavors that haven't been cleared for vaping. Vaping the wrong chemicals, especially those that contain oil, is something that sneaks up on you. Once the damage to lungs is done it's too late or at least a long road back to normal.

I don't think anything can be truly "cleared for vaping" but there are some things, like oils,, that most emphatically are NOT.

I happen to think flavors are probably the biggest unknown honestly for anything. I can't imagine adding to the risk buy buying my flavors from the supermarket. I just really can't. Flavors are cheap and they last a LONG time, from my experience. Really, just get actual vape flavors while they are still cheap and easy to source.

You have your WHOLE life ahead of you if there is a ban (although you are still gonna be able to get vape flavors, probably) to figure out if McCormick's peppermint is gonna be good for your lungs.

I have a large Harbor Freight parts box full of flavors that are a couple of years old. The ones that are supposed to be clear are still clear and smell like the label says for the flavor. In the last year or two I've been vaping unflavored, but I wouldn't hesitate to try the ones I have before buying new ones.

I checked recently on Lorann's web site and could find nothing except Strawberry when I searched for "oil free." Most of the Lorann flavors I have are a watery consistency that doesn't seem to be an oil base, at least not as a major ingredient.

When you search Lorann's site for vape flavors you get a disclaimer saying that they don't recommend their flavors for vaping, just cooking and other edible uses.

True. Nothing has been declared safe. Someone has to be a guinea pig first. If it doesn't appear watery it's probably suspect, especially after the recent issues with vitamin E acetate.

Chef's is simply awesome. They also have some of the BEST one shots around. I went on a one shot bender with them and was not remotely sorry. English trifle! Spotted dick! Twilight!

Stay the hell away from Rasberry eclair. It tastes like prune juice mixed with mud. NOT GOOD.

Anna

OMG English trifle sounds amazing. OK maybe not the Prune/Mud juice

You don't need 100 ml of a flavor you haven't even tried. If 10 ml cost $3, it's probably good stuff. 95% of the recipes I see use insanely high flavor concentrations for anything but tiny vapes that use little juice. 10 ml lasts me a year -- if it's something I use all the time. Most flavors in my collection are awaiting the trash can.

Re: oils, some flavoring compounds are oils and perhaps questionable. Flavor concentrates are SOLUTIONS of the flavor compounds dissolved in a base. Sometimes the base is vegetable oil, which is both useless and indicates the actual flavorings may require oil to be dissolved in as well.

I have used Lorann apple and it seems both safe and tastes better than many. I tried also their Natural Banana, did not like.

I noticed you are in Aussie. I'm in NZ, and agree that the cost of diy concentrates down under is pretty high.

Chefs Flavours LTD is in the UK. They charge £4.71 shipping. Use the coupon code TheKitchen for 15% off:

OMG AngeNZ... How freaking awesome.I never knew this place existed! The fabulous flavours...... I went a bit overboard tho, filled up the cart no problem...opps , get to check out...and have my currency converter app turned on, uhummm:lol::lol::lol:...the DIFFERENCE in exchange lol. Total was NZ$613.88 Or USA$389.27. Note to self... Err, stick to DIY. I do however have 4 USA ready made e liquids that I buy on a regular basis, can't live without, yada yada yada, you get it;) Have spent "lots" on them recently. We may not be facing a date for deeming here... yet, but OF COURSE it will have an effect on us here.! So just stocking up on Nic and USA (must have) e liquids.

LOL SOOOO many delish," just ad Nic to shortfills" etc tempting goodies to choose from and the awesome flavour concentrates oh boy. There is something seriously wrong with me, I NEVER smoked 50 different brands of cigarettes, (well maybe 2)... Camel or Lucky Strike depending where I was. So why the need for soooo many vape flavours LOL ??? I think it's really because there is so much variety now.

Maybe Mum dropped me on my head or something when I was a baby ! IDK

Thank you too Anna for your input.... The trifle and spotted dick mentions got me going...I too participated in a One Shot Bender! Yikes, it's amazing my credit card didn't explode or something!

Having so much trouble with my darn laptop all due to me turning off auto updates. Normally I have them set to do their thing at 4am but due to a ghastly heatwave here turned that off as I'm still awake at 4am, yikes. Stupid thing keeps freezing etc and repeat posting. OMG what if it's repeat posting check out:shock::shock::shock:.

Must nearly be the weekend in Meerica, enjoy :D. Brenda.

And a very good banana foster.

Chef's is a deep rabbit hole but they do have specials. It may be worth signing up for their newsletter etc.

Not the cheapest company but one of the best.

I've usually relied on flavors stated to be vape friendly by ecig vendors, but I have more than a few Loranns flavors in my collection. I'm not one that should be offering opinions, though. It's been a while since I actually mixed up flavored juice after discovering that I liked vaping plain old PG/VG! I need to start experimenting again and find a new favorite mix.
