I may be in the minority but I put analogs away as soon as I got my Riva kit. Two weeks later I tried one and nearly gagged. The taste was so bad and I felt good about that. I agree with a lot of the posts but if you truly want to be free of analogs, stop smokin' em and vape. I admit that I have one PV or another in my hand all day until I go to bed because I got it like that. I hated sokin' in my office because it smelled like analogs but now it kinda smells like a smoke shop smells and I can vape my .... off and nobody complains. Try vapin' only for a 24hr period (no cigs at all). You might be at it all day but the longer you get away from all of the chemicals your cravings for them will decrease exponentially. It ain't just the nicotine yer cravin'. I haven't tried WTA as I don't feel the need for it but I've heard good things about it from folks that still crave analogs. All of this of course is just my opinion and I do truly hope you find a good kit and a suitable juice to get you completely free of analogs. YUK!

Don't get down on yourself because you haven't been able to completely quit. If you used to smoke a pack a day and smoke 4 a day now then celebrate the 16 you didn't smoke.

It's not a race and no one is going to call the vaping cops on you. Try a few different juices at different strengths, the WTA is a good idea, and I'm confident you will eventually find the right combination of things to get rid of the cigarettes.

Best of Luck to you!

Thanks again, everyone.

I'm thinking also that I'm not getting enough of a throat hit. If I try higher nic, it's a burning, which I don't want - I just want a "fuller" throat hit - if that makes any sense.

I looked through a couple of posts about increasing throat hit and got people offering suggestions about volts, ohms...it sounded like they were constructing a space probe!

I just want something easy like my V2 battery - should I go by the number of volts?

The battery I'm using now has 4.2 volts and a battery rating of 250 mAh. Should I just compare these stats to others on the market?

It's not only the volts but the discharge rate. Some PVs start at 4.2 and quickly go down. You say you have a harshness to your vape. High PG juice can be very harsh and some people are sensitive to it. Standard ratios are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG. I vape 60/ 40. Also some juices have alcohol in them which can also be harsh on the throat- same with distilled water additive. Also realize vaping dehydrates- I drink 1 1/2 litres water per day. Coffee and soft drinks will also add to dehydration.
Good Luck.

Thanks again, everyone.

I started on a V2 which is decent although a tad pricey. While the battery comes off the charger at 4.2 volts - it doesn't stay there very long. The small cig sized batteries drain rapidly and the "vaping experience" goes down as the voltage does. While the V2 got me off smokes, I quickly realized I needed more horsepower so vaping would be more consistent. Moved to an eGo clone and I still use it at work every day even though I have some other stuff for home use. A KGO with Resurrectors is a great setup that provides good vaping. If size isn't critical, go with a Epower 14650 from CCV as it comes with Resurrector cartos and the batteries are cheap...

Welcome stl1969! I'm in the same boat - have been doing a fair amount of vaping since January or so, and cut back on the analogs, but haven't completely quit. Yesterday, I got my KGO in the mail and like it much more than the analog look-alike I did have. I'm down to my last two packs of analogs, and when I get down to two single analogs, I plan to give them to my girlfriend to hold for emergency use, and go strictly to vaping. We'll see how that works out... :)

Just so you won't be discouraged. I smoked for 40 years, 1.5 packs a day. Last Oct, 2011 I found this website after I saw the people at the mall selling the cig look-a-likes for about $100. Well, after about 200 hours of reading I bought a Riva kit from Vapor Junction and some cinnamon juice. I immediately went from 1.5 packs to about 10 cigs a day. That lasted a couple of months. Then I went to 5 cigs a day for about 3 months. Then I went to 3 cigs a day until April, 2012. Durring April I decided that I needed to get rid of the 3 cigs a day to really feel that I was no longer a SMOKER! The 3 cigs I was smoking did not do anything for me, I think it's just hard to say goodbye to an old friend(even if it is killing you, plus I have always loved smoking! So I started doing some more research, I figured I was saving a lot of $$$ by NOT smoking 142 cigs a day. I have never in my life tried to quit smoking before this! I decided that I was going to get the best Ecig I could and quit the regular cigs on MAY 1, 2012. I bought an expensive Provari for 159.00 from Provape. I figured, well that's about 2 weeks worth of $$$ I used to spend on regular cigs. I got the Provari and have not had a regular cig since April 30, 2012!!!! This is just how I did it and it has worked out well for me, I think a lot of it was mental for me GOOD LUCK!!

I'll put my 2 cents in: I've been smoking for right at 35 years. Like you, I started with V2's, which are fine vapes, they just weren't enough to get me over the hump. After much research, I went with an E-power kit from Crystal Clear Vaping. That was working just fine UNTIL I had to make a 7 hour drive from New Orleans to Atlanta. I had to stop and buy a pack about 1/2 way through. I then smoked intermittently for the next week (I was visiting family all of whom smoked) and on the way back. Once back home, I haven't had a smoke. So don't get discouraged, it happens to most of us.

As far as throat-hit goes, V2 menthol gives the best throat hit of all of them. I still smoke them from time to time. With vaping, throat-hit is as much about PG as nicotine. BTW, to be technical: V2s are a 4.2 battery that fires at 3.7 volts. Both of my devices (the V2 and the e-power) are 3.7s. You'll see lots of people try to talk you into VV (variable voltage) devices. There are 2 ways to adjust vapor production and flavor: stay with the same ohm cartomizer and/or atomizer and have a device that varies the voltage or stay with a standard voltage device and vary the ohms of the items you smoke on them. There are numerous threads here discussing ohms, volts, amps, watts, etc.

Finally, a quote I read somewhere on here:
Every cigarette you don't smoke should be considered a victory!

I don't know anything about the V2 but it sounds like it's not really working for you. I would strongly suggest a KGO with LR single-coil cartos from Smoketech. The battery is ~1000 mAh so it will last much longer than your V2's and it's a trouble-free e-cig model in my experience.

I think I know what you mean about the fuller throat hit and I suspect that you need a higher VG ratio in your juice - or just a better quality juice. There are LOTS of good juice vendors out there and you may have to just try a few sample packs, but I would suggest that you look for a 70/30 PG/VG ratio. I like Virgin Vapor because their juice has a very rich, full flavor even at lower nicotine levels. There are also several good flavors at Vapor4Life in the Wow range. I hear great things about several other vendors, too - look for the e-liquid threads for recommendations.

I hung on to the last 5 or 6 cigs a day for two years after I started vaping. I thought that I had to have the ones with coffee and after a meal. Eventually, I began to admit that they tasted terrible compared to my eGo and began to tell myself that I didn't want them anymore. That was truth, but i needed to psyche myself up for the quitting process. I was all about how I would have withdrawal symptoms.

I ordered a Provari one day and told myself that when it came in I would quit those last few. I did and found it there was nothing to it. I haven't looked back and I can now call myself a non-smoker. There was just no withdrawal backlash at all from quitting. Many days I would smoke a half pack. Other days, 5-6-8. I think tapering down was a big help. I was a 2+ PAD smoker a couple of years ago.

Once you cut down for a period of time, the rest is largely mental. If you have to, cut down by halves. Smoke 10 a day this week, drop to 5 a day for the next, and then drop one each day until the last one is gone. Vape your head off if you need to, but get rid of the cancer sticks!

We're both in the minority if that is the case. :) I tried one analog and it lasted all of the first drag before I stomped it out and coughed up a lung.

I have no delusions that I'm quitting my nicotine addiction. I am quitting tobacco smoking and all the unhealthy stuff that accompanies it.. tar, chemicals and a huge spending budget.

Personal commitment plays a role

Ecigs are not a quit smoking device ... just an alternative
that many have used to help them stop smoking tobacco.

My sister now vapes and still smokes from time to time...
She used to smoke a pack a day and now smokes maybe 3 or 4
So... That's great ... but she feels a little guilty that she hasn't
given up smoking 100%

PS: Many here, just like you, vape and continue to smoke,
but smoke less because they found ecigs
:)

Here it is. The best answer you will find. I was going to say it myself. I occasionally have to bum a smoke and I hate it but I used to smoke 3 packs a day and now may 3 cigs a month come on. It will all work out and you will find what works for you just hang in there.

This thread is really helping me too, so thank you for posting! I'm on day #6 & already feeling guilty that I haven't cut out the analogs completely (I have 2-4 per day). This is a huge step & I think we all need to give ourselves a break & not expect so darn much out of ourselves. Kicking a habit that is 5, 10, 30, 50 years in the making is serious business & I've decided to applaud myself for the great strides I'm making (down from a pack/day in less than a week?! I'll take it!!) I'm using 18mg & wondering if maybe I should bump it up short-term to get over the hump, so to speak.

Keep at it - you're doing great!!

I used to smoke Parliament lights and American Spirits ultra lights. Still smoked analog cigs the first 6 weeks of vaping. Tapered off from two packs a day. I was never happy with the little stick batteries and cartos. the batteries died quickly and the cartos always needed filling. Today and for many months, I've been using ego mega dual coil cartos with ego batts, my ggts and now on my epipe. Dual coil gives me the amount of vapor I want, really feels like I'm taking a drag off a cig. I've lowered the level of nicotine to 6mg, because dual coils deliver about twice as much vapor/flavor/nic. I'm very happy with it.

Hello all. I just joined the forum today.

I've been using my V2 e-cig now for a couple of months. I actually love it, but I just can't break away from the regular cigs.

I buy my juices from Aromajuice.com and I just started the WTA x2, which I really like.

I noticed that the V2's aren't even listed in the product forums. Should I try some better equipment?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Maybe it just takes awhile to get completely off the cigs.

I too started with a V2 starter kit. I still use mine once in awhile. You will eventually break the habit. Getting new toys and this forum will definitely help too.

So I took the advice of some of you and got my brand new eGo-T today. Holy crap! Incredible! It beats the HELL out of the V2 I was using. I haven't had an analog yet today.

Thanks so much for everyone's advice. This might do the trick!
Wow, I remember that feeling, three months ago, it's the best ever when you realise you don't need the stickies anymore
And there is a real alternative, it's great, a complete revelation the first time
