Can't decide - 510 or KR808D-1?

I've been lurking here for a little bit, and I think I've narrowed my first e-cig choice down to the 510 or the KR808D-1. But now I'm stuck, and can't decide between them.

If I could, I'd just buy them both and choose one that way, but money is a little tight right now (spent too much on the girlfriend for Christmas).

Anybody own both that could help me out by comparing the two?

Thanks.

I own both, not sure how much I can help you though because I like both for different reasons. I'm still new to vaping too. I got the 510 as my second PV, after a 901. I love it for the vapor production and throat hit I get, it really hits the spot when I get a craving for a cig. On the down side, the cartridges are very poor in terms of longevity, and for the last few weeks I've just been dripping when using the 510 because I was wasting too much juice. Some of the mods can help with this, I had mixed success with them. Maybe I needed more practice, or to invest more time in getting the mods just right, but I didn't have the patience or time. I just got the KR808D-1 this past Saturday and so far I really like it. It has real good vapor production and throat hit, although second to the 510 in my opinion. The kicker is the cartridges last forever compared to the 510, so it's much more practical when I can't sit and drip juice in the 510. I've had good luck refilling the cartomizers too, after watching the movie in the Vapor4Life sub-forum. Both are good units, and both are sitting on the desk next to me.

So would it be safe to say that the cartomizers require a lot less maintenance and "fiddling with"? Not sure I want to mess around with modding stuff. I'd really just like to have something that works.

And what about the batteries? Am I going to need to look at one of the commercial mods if I want something with decent battery life? I'd really like to have something that would last me all day at work. I wouldn't mind swapping out a battery a couple times a day, but not really thrilled about the idea of doing it every hour or two.

Thanks again.

I own both, and both are good choices. However, the KR808 D-1 is IMO the best choice for new vapers, and for that matter, veterans. I say this because the 510 simply requires too much fuss with batteries, replacing atomizers, and dripping and refilling. If you like to fuss, buy the 510. If you want a simple replacement for cigarettes, go for the KR8.

The batteries for the KR8 last much longer than for the 510.

Pick one and get an adapter for 3 to 6 dollars. You then end up with both basically.

If I were in your shoes... knowing what I know now (1 month smoke free-joye510 w/808 adapter) ...I still couldn't pick one over the other!!

Right now I am thinking about the DSE Pipe 601 or Juice Box ( ONLY negative ic with Juice Box is they want my money without supplying product for over a month- that bothers me a lot ...and with new models coming)

Actually the 510 is probably better first cutting corners on money department. The 808 is a battery and cartos. Buy JOYE 510, adapter for 901/808, and grab some cartos.

Not sure though if the battery last longer on the 808? But long time pv vaper told me he is actually preferring his 808's cartos on 510 LOL and he has 808 bats dunno bout that one.

sherid 510 was my first and not difficult at all- I am more concern with 808 fillers getting burnt and tend to fiddle with that as much as using my 510. Yes I do dissect my 808's to see what I need to do..in order to avoid inhaling burning filler. Filler has never gotten burned in my 510

I own both now. If I had it to do over, I would get a basic 501 kit. Then get an adapter (510bat to KR8) for about $5 and a pack of cartomizers about $9. Then you can try the best of both and decide which way to go or both.

And to add one point. A tremendous amount of users of either the 510, 901, or 808 actually end up getting mods because of the battery life of most units.

LOL hence my interest in DSE601 pipe. Large battery 900 mAh some say they get a day without charging- self cleaning atty ..one guy said he's using his pipe over the well known SB!!!! blah blah blah head starting to turn at a rapid rate.... wallet strings are loosening...quick get out of here. ttfn

OH and the 510 adapter lets you try the 901s too lol

Can anyone say USB Passthru? Takes "battery life" out of the equation.
I see a lot of peeps going to HV mods, because they want huge vapor, and as much throat hit as they can handle. They also like have something big in their hands. :)

For me the 510 has worked effortlessly for almost 8 weeks now. Haven't fried a single Atty, and 3.7V vaping has been satisfactory. I'm afraid if I went to a HV mod at 5/6/7 volts, I'd never put the damn thing down!

Good luck in your efforts!

I'm usually a bit surprised when I hear sentiments like that. If you have a PCC, it takes about 30 seconds to take a fresh battery out of the PCC and put it on your cartomizer or atomizer. Roughly the same amount of time +/- that it takes to pull out an analog and find your lighter in your purse/pocket. People didn't mind lighting up an analog 30+ times a day.. but have a problem with swapping out batteries 3 times a day. Why?

Generally speaking I recommend a 2-piece to a noob.. unless I know the person well and also know that they are a "fiddler".

Then.. if the 2-piece user comes back to me in a week or so and says that it "just isn't doing it for them", I can point them toward the 510. At that point they are already familiar and comfortable with the concepts of batteries, chargers, and probably liquid. So going to the 3-piece is a smaller incremental step mentally.

KR808d-1 all-the-way!!!

Battery-Life, Flavor and throat-hit surpass the 510 by-FAR! While the 510 trumps the 808 on vapor. However, I find if I pull on my 808 for a second or 2 longer, I am very satisfied with the vapor production.

Notes: I love the 510 manual batteries. They are short, and delicious. The autos are garbage. With my 808, i definitely prefer the auto batteries. More like the real thing! And the manuals work just as well. Theres just something about the button/switch on the 510 that really hits the spot.

510 carts SUCK! Cartomizers are far-and-above a better alternative. they hold 2-3x the juice, and last, for me, 2-5x as long!

Quality over Quantity. In this case, 2 pieces are better than 3.

I love em both, As I stated in another thread I started with the 510 and love it, though it does require some fiddling around with.I found using cartomizers convenient screw on a 510/901-808 adapter and I enjoy the best of both worlds. I find the flavors different though. I love coffee flavors. If I'm using the 510 or the 808 carts I fill with the same juice, there is a different flavor, both good. IMO I prefer my own filled cartomizers versus prefilled's as with my mixes I get more vapor. Both good units though I prefer the 510 manual batteries.

O man. I ended up getting both. Must say: the KR8 gets me in the ease of assemby. I like my 510. I like my KR8. I know for sure the V4L KR8 carts are much easier to put on/use roght out of the box. I don't know about refilling etc. I LOVE the usb passthrough (V4L again) so- I'll prolly go looking for some things to make them play with each other.
