Its a rubber tube that looks like this:

Can you cut that in half with a razor blade?
I think it's too long and it's blocking the airholes.

Even slicing 10% off the end should do it.
the thinner end.

If yours looks the same as mine and it works without this rubber bit then maybe mine would be okay with out it too. (i really dont know :unsure:)

I think that rubber piece just makes sure the end of the center pin cant come into contact with the sides - that would cause a short;

but it's probably too long and part of it is blocking the airholes; chopping it in half should fix the problem.

That is a insulator to keep the center pin from shorting out against the 510 threaded side. If you look at the threads of the 510 connector there will be 2 air holes right above the threads. That insulator need to be inserted into the center of the connector and pushed up until it is above those air holes, otherwise it blocks the airflow when you attach it to your battery. If you need to you can pull out that center pin (it is just held in by that insulator and sometimes another one at the top right under the coil) put in the insulator and push the center pin back through.

I fill the tank and then put the tank on the battery as well. So just to break this down, I have the battery, I have the metal base of the tank that directly screws into the battery and in between the metal part that has the threads that screws into the battery and the tube which allows for air movement is this rubber gasket, then there is the plastic tank walls (the tube), then the wick which has its own rubber part that has a metal piece inside of it, then the metal tank top, then the mouth piece. Maybe this will help.
