Buying a real Caravela is an obnoxious experience to say the least. The Pedro fan boys and girls are so far up his cooly that their heads are popping out of his mouth like alien. Am I hating? No, I'd love one if it wasn't such a Nazi organization. They aren't even that expensive at MSRP, so the whole elitist attitude needs to stop. Show me an audemars piguet tourbillion or a Pagani Hyuara in your garage and ill let you get away with the swagger.

From what I understand Pedro is a very nice person when you can contact him. He is a scientist or engineer I believe and fell into this e-cig mod craze by accident. Spain is in a major recession and in need of manufacturing jobs, but I do not think they have the American entrepreneurial spirit. If an American were to have the fortune to invent such a product with that demand, he would first try to patent it, then find investors and either manufacture them in the USA, or contract the production out to a "reliable & professional" outside source. I really don't think Pedro expected or wanted to create a world wide demand for his Caravella and now perhaps it has become a nightmare for him.

It's like any other limited run item, if you didn't get one early you have to pay as much as others are willing to pay.

Bragging and showing off is the norm, kind of like listing your collection in your signature is showing off. They want everyone to know what they have, it just goes farther because they have the most desired item. So while it isn't a couple hundred thousand dollar watch it does hold the same level of prestige relative to it's 'world'.

I have a Vela and I am disgusted at what the lynch mob over there are doing to people. They are banning people that are reselling their Velas. If caught selling or buying for an inflated amount you will be banned from ever buying from vela again. He started some kind of auction where 3 times a month he auctions of a Vela and all the $ above retail goes to a charity. This is their way of curbing the flippers that are selling their velas for $1200.00 +. It is also their justification for banning buyers and sellers. They say they should be buying from the official Vela auction instead of the private sale. It's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. They actually have a "Vela Tracking" thread where peeps are trolling FB and other venues so they can report on who's selling their gear.
Who do they think they are to tell us what we can do with our own personal property once we pay for it?
Are they really that stupid to think that 3 auctions a month are going to curb demand. He would have to sell 300 a month to achieve that. This is a cliq of fan boys and girls that think some how they are better than the rest of us and its a black mark on us as a community.
This is a batt tube w a switch and a connector. I for 1 am thrilled to see the copies coming out and am proud to do my part to help China take a bite out of this arrogant machine.

interesting thing. so far the sigelei mech has the lowest voltage drop according to pbusardo tests. he only tested 3-4 devices but the results so far are in favor of china mass produced "poor quality" mods.

It is just this type of garbage that keeps me from ever spending a dime with that type of vendor, no matter how magical the community seems think the mod is.

I have high end mods, and I have clones...and 90% of the time I take my clones out with me as the performance is right where I want it to be. I'm not the kind of guy who gets wrapped up in hype though. I like what I like, I buy what I want to buy. Pretty simple concept.

The caustic community that has developed over the re-selling of the 'vellas though...yeah, that makes me ashamed that it is happening in our community

Has he cleaned any of the devices yet? His other recent video showed the kinda drop on the EA mod that can only be caused by dirty contacts.

i don't know about that. i don't want to bash high priced mods and moders nor i would like to praise the chinese cheap products. i have read about ppl having to sand the orion tank to match the hole with the wick while giving negative comments about the aga-t for the same reason. is just a metal tube with a switch for god sake and for the price on some of them i would like to see some .......n perfection.

Anybody know about the UDT V8 from Kidneypuncher?
I don't know anything about modding but they do have Sig 20, and Natural, etc... I got the UDT for about $45 a bit ago... i know, it pays to be informed; i wasn't, but as far as "under load" goes, this metered almost exactly what the batt was, unloaded, but firing an atomizer is a completely different story.... big disappointment.
Does anyone have any suggestions on modding the UDT

btw, the OP Caravela clone *hits like a beast; i don't care what anyone says otherwise... unmodded. I've compared it to my high end devices, switched out Geni atomizers between them, and do not experience much voltage drop at all! kid you not!

A lot of the absurd prices are due to popularity and personal price gouging though.

Regardless, if you hold a $200 mech in one hand and a $30 one in the other, the difference is quite obvious.

here is my take on the vela situation.
its a real good mod, its simple and elegant, it works every time. i modded mine to accept paps telescoping pin.
i dont think one should talk down on pedro, he is a nice person and this isnt his job. he is sharing with us one of his creations, thats all. im sure if you know anything vela, there was a situation, someone lied to pedro of having cancer to get a vela for a fund or something like that. didnt read too much so i wouldnt get aggitated. pedro gave it in a nice case and everything. person flips it. this is a horrible thing to do. turns out there was no illness just a sorry lie to get a vela.
i defend the man when people talk s saying if he wasnt ready for the demand shouldnt have done it, complete ribbish comment to make, i dont understand how people support china so much out of anger of not getting a mod. people who create great things will eventually get tired of making this things. i know i wouldnt make a thing if i read, oh come on china and copy this, wth is that?
overall, the fanboys do get out of hand. but throwing remarks at the creator, especially being such a nice person, is completely out of line.
ggts clone co ops, ody clone co op all clone co ops of gear that is created by very respectable forum supporters and suppliers sickens me to see. ecf should show a little more respect to its supporters also innovators of our vaping world. IMHO of course.

My comments regarding the lynch mob isn't directed at Pedro. I have had many chats with him and I agree he is a great person, making a great device.
My comments are more toward the life of it's own the lynch mob has taken on. Who is going to tell me what I can do with my personal property? Who is going to say I cant sell this, or you can't buy this or you are no longer welcome to purchase any of our products?
The market is going to bring what it's going to bring. To try to control that by spanking our wrists is silly.

The China clone issue is a whole seperate can of worms, IMO. This is a way for people who would never be able to get a decent mod or atty to do just that. China, up until the RSST, is not taking any $ away from any modders. Even with them starting to understand what they need to do to make better devices, they will never come close to the big players like Vela and GG. Their customers are loyal and will remain so no matter how good the quality of a clone gets.
One last thing is also coming to mind here. If supply met demand 2 things would happen. Costs would come down therefore exposing these devices to the masses, and actually presenting a realistic choice between a low priced clone and a thru the roof original.

ECF 100% condones the clone epidemic. IMO Their actions prove this. Most of their approved vendors are selling clones to the point where they are actually competing with co-ops to get them on their shelves before the co-ops get organized.
