I started with the different color SmokTech tanks (3.5 mL and 6 mL) and recently replaced them with the 19mm XL IBTanks (all clear). I've only used SmokTech XL cartomizers in tanks (808 and 510). Because I also use my tanks on eGo-T batteries, I use LR (1.5 ohm) cartomizers in order to get enough wattage. The downside is that they drain my 18650 batteries faster than cartomizers with a higher resistance, but I choose to sacrifice battery life for taste.

Baditude - I haven't seen some of those tanks in other threads that you've posted. Pretty sweet. I can always count on you for awesome high-production value pics.

I've got loads of syringes (boy that sounds bad, doesn't it? heh) in the house; I have to have B12 injections and one of my mother's dogs is diabetic. So there are lots of spare syringes. But can't I also just prime the carto as if it were just.....a regular old cartomizer? Just drip into it until it's saturated, seat it back in the tank, fill the tank, and give it a few minutes before vaping? Sounds like the biggest mistake and frustration with carto tanks is from people NOT priming/filling the carto first. I think I can handle doing that.

I ventured into tanks two weeks ago. All was going fine until I changed the carto today for the first time, and now all I get is a burnt taste and I don't think the juice is getting pulled into the carto. Back to the Novas until I have a chance to figure out what went wrong! Actually times are so hard I'm running a t3 aswell after filling all my Novas with different juices for a weekend away and having none left for my all day vape.

Thanks for the props, Firestorm. :thumb:

My guess is that you are talking about the Triple V Luxury pyrex tanks from Valley View. I try to display the tanks that I recommend to people based on what battery the tank will be put on. I like the Triple V pyrex as long as it has the aluminum endcaps; I'm not a fan of Ray's grommet tanks because of the difficulty in filling those. But his pyrex tanks are all huge, so I'm not going to recommend those to someone with an eGo battery.

It just seems that lately most of the questions have involved people with the slimmer battery devices such as eGo's or Provari's, so I recommend the IBTanked slim tanks or the 3.5ml DCT polypro tanks. If someone inquires about a larger size tank, I recommend the 25mm IBTanked or either of Valley Views two pyrex tanks.

I can't seem to find the sweet spot with carto tanks. It's either a burnt flavor or flooded. I sometimes even get a burnt taste when I can clearly see the filler is soaked. I've tried different brand catros and several different hole sizes with no luck on my last four attempts at cartos. Surely I couldn't have tried four bad cartos in a row??

It's hard to say, there is a learning curve involved with cartotanks, and the main issue is the right amount of juice within the carto...either flooded or dry.

If you search through the cartomizer and tank threads Assorted PV Topics you will find that many people have the same issues that you are, and often people are able to find a cure with the help of others.

Are you using low resistance cartomizers?

I'm using low res cartos in a IBTanked 25mm tank pushed by a Silver Bullet (not kicked). The cartos that seem to work the best so far are the CE2 Style (wicked) single coil 2-ohms I got from IBT. It's still nothing to write home about, but it's better than the filler style cartos I've tried.

Just a suggestion based on my own experience. Perhaps the low resistance carto's are contributing in part to your dislike of filler style. I learned over time that I prefer a "cooler" vape. My first tanks came included with Smoktech low resistance dual coil carto's. And I continued to replace them with the same. I didn't know any better at the time, but I just assumed that was all I should use in the tanks.

Well, like you I was not satisfied with them, but I did like carto tanks. I looked around the forums and realized that a lot of people were using single coil cartos. And I found the following chart Vaping Power Chart 2.0 - Imgur

I decided to switch to standard resistance. So the combination of standard resistance, single coil cartos made a significant change of improvement for me. Since the 2 ohm ce2 cartos were an improvement for you, I suggest the next time you purchase cartomizers that you get 2.0 ohm single carts.

OK, been through the gambit of blue foam/tea bag carts up to RBAs ('bakky history in sig line). Guess what I'm currently vaping...

Did ya guess dual coil 1.5Ω carto in a tank? If not, then bzzzz! In fact, I'll use an eMDDC over any clearo on da market (yeah, I've tried most of 'em!). The most dreaded vaping experience I absolutely HATE is a dry hit!!!

So, until a manufacturer comes up with a fail proof non-dry hit clearo/RBA, I'll stick with my DCTs, along with my 'assault' firearms and 30 round mags! BTW, where are da 'assault' 30ml joose tanks...

Going from a clearomizer to a tank is a big deal. So much more flavor and vapor. Awesome
I had to give up on them because I could not keep them wicking even with 70pg 30vg juice
I only tried double hole punched cartos. Maybe slit cartos work better? Never tried them

This is my first time using tanks so maybe I am not the right person to answer this, but I am having good luck so far so here is what is working thus far for me. I am using the smok cartos and I got the 1.5 double coil, and 2.5 single. I wanted some lower resistance to use with my Ego batteries and the higher to use with my Zmax. I added a second hole since my juices are all 50/50. I put 30 drops of juice in the carto then used the DCT refil tool to fill the tank up. I have been vaping the 2.5 carto at 4.5 v and the 1.5 carto at 3.3. No flooding or burnt hits just pure vaping pleasure.
