Well, like you I was not satisfied with them, but I did like carto tanks. I looked around the forums and realized that a lot of people were using single coil cartos. And I found the following chart Vaping Power Chart 2.0 - Imgur

I decided to switch to standard resistance. So the combination of standard resistance, single coil cartos made a significant change of improvement for me. Since the 2 ohm ce2 cartos were an improvement for you, I suggest the next time you purchase cartomizers that you get 2.0 ohm single carts.

I look at trying some higher resistance cartos next week when I swing by Vapor Cast in Dayton. I'm really trying to love this tank setup, especially for what I paid for it.

Be very careful using a drill bit to punch your cartos! Go too deep and you'll pull out filler material and/or destroy a coil. A drill stop is day-um near a must.

You'd (in theory) be able to remove material without deforming the surface, and if you have any skill you will know to drill slow and carefully so as not to grab any inner material once the hole is complete.
I understand this.

Three questions for the exp's. (baditude lol). I never see mention of using a drill to make a hole. You'd (in theory) be able to remove material without deforming the surface, and if you have any skill you will know to drill slow and carefully so as not to grab any inner material once the hole is complete.
Also, why are they always DC systems? A single coil cannot keep up? And why do I never see two holes, with the holes being right over the coils spots?

I'm in agreement with Absintheur, I only use single coil cartomizers, too. I also think his theory is sound that the top coil coil can burn the material that surrounds it if the batting can not keep it moist. Look at these photos of a dissected dual coil cartomizer (click to enlarge them).

One could possibly use a drill press to punch cartos, but who has such an expensive machine to make holes in a carto? I've been perfectly happy getting one or two laser-drilled cartos from vendors, they wick juice fine. I've only needed to punch larger holes for one juice, and that was Boba's Bounty, a very thick as molassis 100% vg juice.

Smoktech made the original DCT (dual coil tank) and marketed their new at the time dual coil cartos with them. The name stuck for all tanks made by other manufacturers. Of course you can put a single coil in a "dual coil tank".

I assume the carto manufacturers are reluctant to put their laser-drilled holes higher on the carto for fear that it would upset the inner tank pressure once juice levels get below the top hole, and therefore you'd be sucking on the air in the tank, instead of the juice. It must not work that way in real life, because that seems to be the way fourthrok punches hers and she is claiming great success with her method.

It all boils down to finding a system that works for you.

I like grommet tanks too, only issue is on some mods the rubber seal off the connector killing all airflow, sometime you can slide the tank up a bit, with some you can't. They are just about bullet proof...

    greentank1a.jpg

Didn't know about that. If you wanted tho, the Momnpop's are able to slide the tank up pretty far on the carto? Might look ugly then tho on a nice mod unless you put a covering on there. Or maybe push the bottom grommet up outta the way.

Anyone try those sidefill glass tanks from avidvapor?? I'd like to but haven't heard much on if I have to worry about the glass shattering in my pocket??

I have a drill press with a good small vice clamped to it...just too lazy to set it up just to drill cartos. The man cave is fully equipped, I have built several 1911s starting with raw frames and slides in there.

I have considered using my jeweler's lathe to try turning drip tips...just haven't gotten up the gumption yet...lol

Since it was asked, I use the Kanger horizontal coil cartos in my tanks. I use the punch sold by Phiniac. I put two holes in the carto, drip some into the carto, fill the tank, and take a couple of dry tokes. Then I puff away. They seem to last almost forever. With the coil down near the bottom the only time I got a burned taste was when I forgot to take those priming puffs before giving it power the first time, and that carto was still useable after I got her moist. I've never had a flooded carto, so maybe I'm doing it wrong or I'm just lucky.

Thanks man, and as for drying at levels, I'd say just make sure you roll the liquid over the holes no?
I am going to try this...put a cart in a bench vise ...gently so as not to defeat why I'm doing this. No malformations. And all I need to achieve is a steady hand and once the pilot hole is a reality the drill will grab. We all know how thin the walls of a cart are. If I see the bit grab, period, I'm off the already slowly propelled bit. Analog trigger man.

They work fine on any mod when the connector stands a little proud like the SB...

I wanted to try a carto tank myself recently, so i decided to get the locking style Chrome Artemas because i had the fear of the tank sliding off the carto. They use the flange style cartos and the bottom cap locks it in.

I got two tanks and some dual coil 2.0 ohm two hole laser punched cartos. They are working great.

Oh do please, provide a link to that one!

    Fluid Flask

The drip tip on the Fluid Flask is also part of the top cap...does not use a 510 driptip. But to fill all you have to do is pop off the drip tip and fill.

The Artemas is available in a slim size as well. I have found on some mods the thickness of the locking cap prevents the carto from seating far enough in the connector to fire

What kind of carto tanks do you like most?

Nothing fancy, just Smoktech carto tanks with smoktech 2.0-2.2 ohm single-coil 1-hole cartomizers. They have the metal endcaps, not the straight rubber endcaps.

I got them from my b&m store, Vaporcast. Here is what they look like: 3ml VCDC Tank - VaporCast. They also have 6 ml tanks.

I bought the eGo version of those. This is the first time I have got the vapor production I want. Just huge clouds of vapor, finally! I think next time I need to get 6ml tank though, since I've had to top it off three times today, lol.
