I started out using Viva tanks and clearos but recently bought a custom blown glass carto tank...and I LOVE it! With the regular tanks I am constantly making sure to stand them upright when I set them down, and when taking them out in my purse, making sure they stay upright in order to keep the juice from leaking out or flooding, is really a pain in the neck. I have noticed with my glass carto tank that I can lay it down anywhere, without keeping it upright, and I get no leaking or flooding. It is SO MUCH MORE CONVENIENT! Is this the norm for a carto tank system? If so, I am switching away from the wicking systems. Recs on carto tanks systems appreciated!

Cartotanks should not leak. Properly snug-fitting o-rings are the reason for that. O-rings are the rubberband-looking rings that fit between the glass and endcaps (O-outer rings), and the carto and the endcaps (O-inner rings).

You may also find that cartotanks also provide better flavor production than the string-wicked devices.

I can get anything to leak. The good news is I can fix anything that leaks. ECF threads and YouTube videos have been my friend in this process. Like you, I love carto tanks. However, I typically use evods or Protanks when out and about, and on different batts, as well. Current out and about device is the iTaste 3.0 with evod topper. Current at home vape is Sigelei (mini, V2, V3)/Provari/eVic/Innokin (SVD) APV with a variety of carto tanks, Protank, evod, MT3 toppers. I also use RBA's at home, when I'm in the mood for the best vape. Have plans to upgrade gear in the future to serious mods, RBA's, etc. Vaping now more of a hobby, than as a cessation device...and I'm really enjoying the Journey. Thanks for your post, food for thought, good luck, Power Up and Vape On!

I have IBTanked, Fluid Flask, and Loki Labs SS1, and Bellas.

IBTanked and the SS1 are Pyrex. Pyrex does not crack or break with juices know to do so. such as citrus and cinnamon. IBTanked is half the price.

Fluid Flask is expensive and has a plastic tube. I bought it for looks.

I often throw mods with tanks on them horizontally in my purse. Never had a leak from any of these.

Bella's are also plastic, and I have leaking issues with them no matter what I do with them.

Baditude, who posted above, didn't mention his blog post about tanks, but it does contain lots of good info. I have taken all of his suggestions, and never had a carto tank issue (except for the Bellas).

As for clearos, I have used Kanger t2s and vivi nova, but really I do not like them mostly due to leaking issues.
