Cartomizer or tank leaking?

I noticed some juice on the contact and recessed ring on my provari when I unscrewed my carto tank. This eventually gave me an "E1" error message for a shorted atomizer. I'm confused if the leak was from a flooded carto or from the tank o-rings itself since there was juice on the contact AND recessed ring.

If it were the big orings that you can see then the bottom cap of the tank itself would be messy.

First clean the top part of the Provari real good with quips and some alcohol. Take the tank by itself and holding it upside down so there is no juice covering the wick holes blow the excess liquid out into a paper towel. Take the paper towel then and make sure the connector on the carto is completely clean and juice free. I would then find something to set the tank upright over a paper towel for a little while to see if anything is leaking out. If nothing is leaking then you may have just had a flooded carto. If there is juice leaking out then the inside bottom oring probably needs to be replaced.

If the carto continues to flood then one of the inside orings is not sealing completely or your carto is too old and needs to be replaced.

All this is assuming you're using something like a DCT. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice. The carto tank im using btw is the Pro-V 2 with a Boge single hole pre punched carto that I just got 2 days ago, so it cant be from an old carto. The bottom cap wasn't really messy but there was some slight juice on there. Right before this all happened it was gurgling really bad...then all of the sudden I got the E1 on the provari.
