Okay, so I did a search and didn't come up with what I was looking for. Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse. I've been off the forum for awhile, and I come back and suddenly cartos are much more popular than they were a few months ago. I was just wondering what the benefits were over cars and separate atomizers?

How long do your cartomizers usually last? I bought 4 from Eastmall and they seemed to give me between a day and a week lifespan... rather random... unreliable?...

Right now I have to really suck on them to get anything. Is there a way to clean them that I'm unaware of? I'm using the 510 cart.

When I use them they last about a week. I use hot water and flush them out and then a good dry out. blow the water out of them and let them dry out some. refill and use again. I usually just use them for a week and toss them.

I like them on the regular joy batteries for a couple of reasons:
1st being the vapor production, remember how nice a brand new atty vapes? I get more vapor out of my cartos then I do with my week old atty that had only seen joy batteries. Vapor production will slowly taper off, then toss it and put a new one on!

2nd being, I second that I get a better taste with my juice. I don't know if that will hold true for all juices, but it does for mine.

3rd being I can go for a half hour drive, and not have to try to hit red lights to fill these puppys up like I would with an atty.

The -only- thing I don't like about them is that they don't hold up well to higher voltage. They make an enormous warm cloud of vapor and die after a hour of 5v vaping.

My $0.02 is that many of us cart/atty users are looking for that all day sucker and the thought of not having to ever top off is appealing. That with the fact that larger cartos are being made and with refilling in mind ain't hurting.

I found myself, like you, wondering about it all and then saw the eGo MEGA cartos and jumped at 5 of them. I mean, come on, 1.5ml of juice in a single, no drip/leak fill????

Short story...not able to refill to that 1.5ml level and they leak, boy do they leak - but I've heard that is a hit/miss with each one as some don't.

For what it's worth, I got 10 SGS and 10 Boge cartos for my eGo, and I really don't notice a huge difference between the two brands.

The SGS ones come individually wrapped and look fairly normal when you pop the soft cap off. The Boge ones aren't wrapped, and have a strange reservoir or something between the soft cap and the atty.

In terms of actual performance, my experience has been dependent on the liquid you use. VaporBomb and Cash liquid seems to work just fine in both, but on the other hand, they seem to be less than awesome with Johnson Creek. (In fairness, the JC liquid I've used is nearly a year old, and is the old "not PG but not really VG" formula)

The biggest benefits for me are not dealing with breaking in an atty, and being able to switch out flavors instantly. Not being stuck ruining a finally-broken-in atty on a flavor I hate is huge. You can get adventurous, and worst case, you're out just over a buck when you pitch the carto that you don't like.

Unfortunately, though, they leak like mad if you don't fill them precisely. And, they "gurgle" more than regular carts do.

3.2 ohm cartos on 5V havent killed one yet 1wk+ rotating and keeping wet. (Madvapes)
Will have to see when I get the 1.7 ohm if I have any issues killing cartomizers (No warranty/return, but hot to trot so gotta give em a go)

Cartomizers just freed me from constantly refilling carts. Tried dripping direct on atty, but havent perfected technique. Cartos do benifit from teryn spin especially with thick VG and gurgle a bit when overfilled. Once you find the happy medium between gurgling and dry they last for some time, but I'm no longer chain vaping so hard to judge sometimes.

I just disected a brand new Ego cartomizer.. You might be surprised to see the insides...I'll try and up load a photo. But here is how it works..

The advertisements say the cartomizer has an atomizer that runs the length of the entire cartomizer right down the middle..

This is not true....

What it has is a tiny little spring (this is the heating element) it's the same principle as a common light bulb. And it certainly DOES NOT run the entire length of the cartomizer (more like maybe 1/8 of an inch...

ok now that the photo has uploaded.

The spring (or heating element) is covered by the little white shroud in the picture, so you can see the maximum distance that the spring is stretched inside the carto.

I laid the guts of the disected carto along side a working carto so you can get an idea of the size relationship. The black wire is soldered to the casing side wall inside where it gets negative side of the battery, through the threads. The positive side of the battery is the gold post in the middle of the battery which is screwed up against the cartomizer. There is a little rubber gromet (grey colored in the picture) that seperated the positive from the negative..

I have to say I'm a little disappointed in the design. It holds a lot of fluid, but that fluid has to find it's way to the little spring, which certainly DOES NOT stretch the entire length, and down the center of the cartomizers housing..:glare:
