Hi,

I am pretty new to vaping with very little experience. I've used the Ego T & C and one 3.5ml tank with DC cartomizer from TW which I use on my Ego battery. I am just about to get my hands on a new Provari V2 and I am looking for a good cartomizer/tank combo.

I thought it would help if I first told you a bit about my self. I live in London, UK. I don't vape much. I get trough about 1ml of juice a day. I mainly vape in the evening in the comfort of our home. I like to have a vape when out and about too but I don't see my self taking the larger Provari with me just because of its size. I understand this view might change once I get to try the better PV. We shall see.

Now, I've been going in circles for past few days. And to be perfectly honest, I feel utterly confused. I simply do not know where to begin. I've read countless forum posts, searched numerous UK & US based online stores and when I almost feel ready to make a decision I find yet other thing which does change my plans.

So far, I think I have been able to establish that I should get some smaller sized 3ml tanks since I don't vape much. I'd be willing to get larger 5ml tanks if it makes a difference to my vaping experience. The current tank I have seems to work ok with the ego battery and I only expect it to get better on the more powerful device. It seems to have no faults as such. It has nice stainless steel caps and it seals well too. the only thing I can't get over is the cheap plastic tube forming the tank. That is just a pure s**t. I have my eyes set on Phiniac tanks. They are awesome and exactly what I wish for design wise. But, with the stainless steel upgrade caps they don't come cheap and being from the UK they take a while to arrive. I need my tanks now and not in three weeks time. I know that I will certainly order some in the future once I'll have worked out what I am just about to ask for your help with here.

So, how does the combo I'm searching for look like? Well, it is simple. It is about 3ml in capacity with stainless steel caps, clear tube made out of a decent material and it holds well together.

Let's move on. I fully appreciate that the tank it self is only what it is, a tank. I see the importance of the build quality too. But, I know that the most important part is the cartomizer. It is after all what produces the vapour we all like to enjoy.

This is where the actual question comes in. Working with the aim of 3ml tank, what sort of cartomizer do I need? I was going to order some but there are standard sized, XL sized and whatever else sized cartomizer to choose from. This is what confuses me the most. Is there a size guide I could look at which would clearly show what size of cartomizers is required for what tank systems? I don't want to limit my self to 3ml only. I would like to get my head around the whole thing. There seem to be almost no information regarding the size requirements on the online stores. So how is it that, I, a new guy to vaping, am suppose to work this all out?

I also like to understand what kind of cartomizer to get after the size is worked out. Is it going to be a low, standard or high resistance one? I can almost see this after doing all my reaserch. I reckon that I should be looking for a standard/high resistance cartomizer with some 2.5-3.5ohms in resistance. However, I can not understand how it makes a difference. Isn't it all about the actual power output in the end? I mean how is it different to run the PV at 10W for example with a low resistance cartomizer at a lower voltage to running a higher resistance cartomizer at a higher voltage achieving the same 10W? With Provari V2's 3.5A current limit I can see one being able to work with any resistance cartomizer achieving almost any reasonable power output. So, which one is better and most importantly why?

I found the the Boge & Smoketech cartomizers highly recommended and I guess it should be some of those I'll end up with. I fully appreciate that vaping is such a personal and individual thing that there are no hard rules. I am looking for a general direction rather than anything else. I even plan on getting a few different types of cartomizers to try.

I apologise for such a long post and I thank you for sticking with me. Would you please help me to a better vaping experience by answering my questions and perhaps making some recommendations as for what and where to look? Please remember that I am I the UK, so, UK based suppliers will make all the difference.

Many thanks and happy vaping.

Welcome to the vaping community and congrats on purchasing a Provari. I will try to answer your questions the best I can.

Tanks usually come in several sizes to fit standard or xl size cartos. Standard size cartos are 35 mm not including the battery connection, xl cartos usually measure 45 mm, but boge makes an xl sixe that is 40mm and an xxl size that is 45 mm. The tank I would recommnd is the vpx tanks, available from cloud 9 vaping: www.cloud9vaping.co.uk/epages/yxve4...ops/yxve46fvrnud/Products/VPX-TANK-MINI-SLANT. The one linked is the mini ss with beveled edges, and a charcoal grey colored tube. The tubes come in several colors, and the end caps come in both ss and delrin. The mini size tank fits standard 35mm cartos.

Also take a look at the new tanks from Siam Mods. They have some nice looking tanks, however I haven't used them yet. They should be available to UK customers at www.saim-mods.com.

As far as carto resistances, i get the best performance on a 3 ohm boge carto at around 5 volts on my Provari. I adjust the voltage to get the best flavor from each specific juice, but I am usually right around 5v. On an ego type battery or 3.7v mechanical mod, I use 2 ohm boge cartos. I can't say why but 3 ohm at 5 volts tastes much better than the same wattage on a 2 ohm carto.

Good luck, I hope you find your perfect setup.

First off good mod choice.

I was born in London but live in the US with a brother than started vaping a week ago that lives in Suffolk. I also have a couple of ProVari's so could be in position to help but johnson13 has summed it up so well that really it isn't needed.

I would suggest you buy the tank to suite your vape not the other way around. I have J-Tank, Alu Liquinator and a Phiniac tanks all 3ml. All three are hassle free, leak free and work well.

The 3ml is my choice as I like the way Boge's vape and a 3ml tank aesthetically to me looks better on a ProVari than a 6ml.

If you go here you will find 24 pages of pictures devoted to tanks on the ProVari. Just to make things more confusing lol

Really once you get into the more expensive models it is just personal choice as they all do the same job normally very well. At the end of the day it is just a device to stop you becoming bored re-filling your carto.

Thank you both for taking a time to help. I've placed a number of orders from a few suppliers. In fact, I already have the new VPX tank and it is very pretty. Shame that the Provari V2 won't be with me until tomorrow and that is if I'm lucky. I will let you know how it goes then. Cheers, Tomas
