Here I go with another tangent.

I was just reading the title of this thread, and realized it sounded like a line from a cheesy drama set in ancient Greece:

ELARATES: Cartos, why have you forsaken me?

CARTOS: Because, Elarates, the Oracle at Delphi told me the sun sets on your rulership of Athens. Give my regards to Hades, tyrant!

I am having issues with my latest batch of XXLs, a couple had only one air hole in the connection, and others are not drawing well....i am sucking on one right now that whistles and has a crappy draw......this is why i switched from smoktech, only to have it happening with the Boges. I have around 80 boges sitting in a box right now, I have not had any issues with the regular size ones so far, but i have not used many as I am pretty much a carto tank ...... I will have to start using some of the smaller ones and see if I have the same issues.

They're not complicated at all, but there are key factors you need to balance out:

1. Filler material (polyester, cotton, blend, something like that -- needs to be untreated, non-reactive with juice, and at least moderately heat-resistant)
2. Filler density (how much needs to be used to prevent flooding but still promote free juice flow to the coil across the most common PG/VG ratios?)
3. Sock material, thickness and density (the sock that goes around the coil and acts as an intermediary between the hot coil and the burnable filler material, needs to have high heat tolerance and )
4. Coil material (Nichrome or low-emissivity Kanthal?)

All of these will effect flavour, vapor production, throat hit, and longevity. Then there's the manufacture process, which is a whole 'nother ball game.

The actual construction of them is dead simple, but there's a whole prototype phase needed to come up with a carto that is long-lasting and delivers the goods on VTF.

So the first issue is to design the right one. Who has that skill and expertise?

I can make basic designs, but I don't have the resources to make a physical prototype. (I can do the wrapping, wiring and stuffing without much difficulty, it's a matter of getting everything -- empty carto tubes, 510 connectors, filler material, optionally small compression ring clips to try and make a solderless design, etc.)

Well I haven't had issues with Boges ever, even recently, but in the last week I've heard so much bad news about them that I've been crying in a corner most of my miserable days... :(

Believe me, I know how you feel. I'm afraid to use up the rest of my Boges because it'll feel like prolonging the agony. I'm going to go order more Stardust 2s tonight.

After being somewhat disappointed with cartos, I finally tried putting a REAL big hole in them, as in you have to really work the nail to get it out of the thing, and I've finally now got something worth vaping.

I did the Dremel thing - cut a slit where that teeny tinny little hole was. Haven't tried it yet we'll see.

Why don't you try these .... IkenVape Gold V2 Cartomiser
I can't comment on the product but I am sure that Switched will be more than willingy to provide info.

I'm told they're kind of meh. Not fantastic, not terrible.

I'm trying a little experiment just to see something. I cracked open another Boge XXL and filled it with another juice. No tank, just the carto. Going to see how long it lasts just to see if it was maybe the juice I was using. I mean, even if it was the juice that's still not cool, cartos should be juice-agnostic, but we'll see how it goes.

You would think that, but when I went through 30 cartos in 30 days you learn otherwise!

This is pretty trivial, but I just recieved some boges from surevapes and they no longer have the sticker (except the XLs), but have switched to a printed on label. I'm still curious if this is a change in production or someone else making bad copies. I haven't tried these out yet.

Edit: The lr also have 2 short condoms and don't have that rubber post piece, not sure if that's normal .. I was using SRs before. :p

Boge do have a new supplier for the condoms, so yes, short ones are (now) normal, and some people are rather annoyed about that. Dunno about the stickers.

Making bad copies of what exactly? I mentioned the sticker/non-sticker/no logo thing earlier. It's vague packaging. No sign of Boge anywhere. Could be made by anyone. I may start sleuthing Boge. Counterfeit is so easy, knock-offs especially, when there is no distinct markings or even a logo. Absence of logo makes me nervous. Without it I can't see how any legal misuse could apply.

Another company making lower quality versions.

Yeah I saw your post and I was going to reference it, but the cart you gave me without a sticker doesn't have the printed on label info either. I'd really like if the resistant and some sort of logo were somewhere on them.

What are you doing up at this hour ? And .. my cartomizer came in today, so I can give you back some. :)

It's a ritual, my late Friday night ramblings on ECf. I don't know why I'm up, since I was up at 7am. this morning. I miss my other iPro, only two batteries in my life and it's frightening at times. :). Time for a quickie rendezvous soon!

I notice something different, without a doubt, between using a tank vs. just topping off a carto. The tank provides a consisitent amount of liquid with no chance of over filllng or under filling. Always makes my cartos last much longer. Just my personal obsersation. I never have any real hard evidence of when it's time to top off a carto or how much. Start to taste the end of a juice and some burn without much warning usually. Then it's too late. Doesn't happen with a tank - much smoother sailing. I'm becoming a tank junkie :).
