Friends, I think that my vaping experience would improve tenfold if I could figure out a way to keep from getting tons and tons of juice in my mouth.
I have tried the 20.00 Zcart mod with the straw and cap... teabags...

Perhaps I overfill them a bit?
But I hate having to refill a cart every 6-7 drags...
I have cartomizers, but I like carts too.

Any ideas?
Drip tips?

Thanks, G

I've tried quite a few and have settled with a blue foam plug with a straw mod. Here's what I do:

I use the marineland Blue foam (walmart) and cut a piece 1.5x the width and length of the top of the cart. The extra foam acts as a 'horizontal spring mod' where the foam presses against the cart wall and keeps it from falling down. The 'cauterized' texture of the top of the foam (the bottom can be stringy and I cut that off) is such that a spur on the metal mesh covering the bridge won't grab it like it can the oem filler or a ptb. If I didn't have so much blue foam I'd use Hellen's suggestion of Aquaclear foam. The point being you don't want anything that the metal mesh can grab and I've never had this happen with the blue foam. I cut the depth to about 1/8th inch on 901/510 carts and a bit more on 801 carts. So this is a 'plug' that sits at the top of the cart well and the bridge determines how deep it is by pressing against it.

I also add a straw mod which, imo, helps on refills and wicking. I use a Johnson & Johnson safety swab shaft - I cut it @1/16 short, so 11/16ths for the 901/510 but in practice I just shove it down the empty cart and cut. I then cut diagonals on both ends facing the same way (inwards) the bottom diagonal is for as is said in the straw mod link:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/11421-cart-mod-better-refilling.html

... the upper diagonal is to give more room for the bridge so it's not contacting the straw. I put the blue foam plug in first and then take a straight pin to allow the straw to go through the foam on the rounded edge of a 901/510 cart furthest from the bridge. I fill up the cart through the foam and it fills the well thoroughly so there's nothing but juice below the plug. And I fill until the surface texture of the foam still shows. If it is a bubble, you've overfilled - take a napkin and draw it off. No leaks, and it lasts me 35-45 minutes of fairly heavy vaping with regular (not LR) 510 atomizers on 3.7v mods.

Mainly I drip. I use the RN4081 atty for this.
For on the go, I got the DSE102 which is a mini mini and it has a small round liquid cup. The cup is also clear so it’s easy to see inside when refilling.
I use the ZFM in this and it works great.
I can’t quite get the ZFM to work on the RN4081 so if I do want to use a cart with it, I do the ZFM but put the plug lower and I put a little piece of facial sponge or very thin layer of cotton from a face sterilized pad on top of the plug.
The latter works the best but has to be kept moist at all times to lessen the danger of inhaling fibers which is why I use the facial sponge the most.

It took me a while to get a grip on the liquid in the mouth problem when I first started (the worst!). It isn't always the filler that makes the liquid in your mouth, it is the liquid that is on the side of the cartridge.

I found out that when I topped off cartridges, I would get a bit of liquid running down the cartridge when went into the air channels of the mouthpiece and get liquid in my mouth.

The solution was to get into the habit of gently blowing down in the mouthpiece each time I got ready to vape to clear it out a bit.

Then I ended the problem pretty much by transferring my liquids into small 2 dram (8ml) glass bottles with a squeeze dropper top and a glass tip. I didn't have the over filling running over the side and down the cartridge and I can suck back in any excess liquid I'd dropped in there before it ran over the sides and ran into the mouthpiece.

So, the problem was the the plastic droppers that most liquid comes in since it was too easy to add just one too many drops (which isn't correctable) which ran down the cartridge side.

You can find them on ebay. Here is a picture:

You also can find them at some aromatherapy or herbalist shops locally. Check out the web or your local Yellow Page listings. I pay about $1.80 here locally.

A list of cartridge modifications are here:

I think I tried them all (gah!) and got pretty tired of fiddly stuff and just use AquaClear now. If you cut it slightly larger than the cartridge (only the width slightly larger and compressed when you put it in) and cut the depth and length the same as your cart size it holds liquid well and wicks it properly. If you cut it too wide and over compress it, it won't wick well, but you can always trim it down. Inexpensive and reusable once it is cut and available in the aquarium section of PetCo and PetSmart.

The combination of the dropper bottle and the AquaClear has worked well for me in all the atomizer models I own (801/penstyles, 901, 510, 401).
