Another determining factor here is the particular liquid itself. A liquid that is fantastic in one atty and build does not always equate to being fantastic in another. Case in point with NT's " The Cure". I've thrown a multitude of different devices and atty's at it ( dripped, regulated, temperature controlled, high ohms and watts and low ohms and watts) and for me, I get the best flavor from it using a Taifun GTII with a simple 1 ohm coil parked on top of a PAPS X. Not that its bad in the others, it just happens to pop the best using that device.

Same thing with ACB. Using the Vector with my current "Birds Nest" build, I'm getting wonderful almost honey like flavors from the caramel that I've never tasted before.

I have no idea what level of engineering went into the Vector, nor do I know anything about aerodynamics myself, so my theory may be complete bs. But I've been wondering, ever since I got my Vector; Why did they put that screen in it? My thinking is that in order to make the airflow work, and produce flavor, the vapor has to be 'detained' inside the chamber, for a while. The airflow has to be restricted. Without the screen, even with the Afc set at minimum, 2 holes, it's too airy to produce flavor. The vapor doesn't stay in the chamber long enough. Notice that the air inlets are below the screen, which is inside the mouthpiece.
When I was fooling around with mine, this morning, I put the screen back in at one point. I got better flavor than I did with the screen out. For flavor, the best I could make the Vector work was with a restricted lung hit. Screen in, and 6 holes open.
Anyway, that's my 'crackpot' theory.

You bring up a very good point R62. With the screen in or out, it definitely changes the flavor around although I think the theory behind the screen is to prevent spit back. The thing I find with the screen in is that the atty also tends to run much hotter.

Re: Vector

From a aerodynamic standpoint the Vector is not "optimum"....
I did some experimentation a while back measuring airflow from those old lungs and calculating Reynolds numbers with various air slot/coil configurations because I wanted to make my perfect one-off atty.
Based on that I would not expect the Vector to perform well without major "suck" effort ( and even then problematic) and from what you say that might be true.
There is a lot of room to improve atty performance but as with anything it would take engineering effort and I doubt if any current manufacturers have anything other than trial and error engineering involved in their design efforts.

Still waiting for a bottom or side air flow atty with a top intake and a killer build deck that doesn't seep all over my mod.

Right on...
Bottom up air flow....slot with turbulators...
Air flow source from the top...shielded to stop blow back
Keyway indexing of air supply/coil configuration
+ secret features...:)

I keep looking at it - the air flow just looks too restrictive for me.
Actually for flavor I think the Manta v2 air flow volume full open is good. It did look a little restrictive but I don't find it so in practice.
