I'm a wood person, hobby crafted fine woods for over 50 years. So wood mod aesthetics trumps metal mods with me. But I gave my numbers back to Peter for two made from exhibition woods I was going to supply from my large stash of it AND for the new smaller version I was slated to beta test also from my woods all at the same time (for various reasons that will remain my own). Also passed on a special PDib that was going to be resold, a real nice Gepetto DNA20 BF and a Caduceus SE BF offered to me about the same time. I have lots of Woodvil's that get it done for me just fine running Nuppin' and Chalice atty's, so decided to just stay with them to appease my wood mod needs.
I am just not into the wood theme, everyone has their own preference.

And they do not get babied because they are wood.

We're all different. I have zero experience in finishing wood. Although it was a hobby of my dad's. But I guess, after a nearly 40 year career as a welder, I've handled enough metal to last a lifetime. During that time, I was an avid briar pipe collector and smoker. Wood mods remind me of that feel; and my dual coil builds on my favorite attys come pretty close to replicating the experience. Since the release of the 2015 Woodvils, my mod search pretty much was over. A dual coil Manta or Thump, on a '15 Woodvil, does the trick, for me.

I'm in the same boat. My number is coming up in about 3 or 4 months, but I'm not so sure about it anymore. I'm already selling off my wooden mods because I love my metal mods so much more. They're beautiful, but I'm afraid of wood mods, especially with the humidity I have down here in Texas.

Get a stabilized one, no warping of any kind.

And that's exactly my point. Each of us have our own preferences, I have zero interest in trying to change that, variety is the spice you know. I am very happy that the world of bottom feeding options has improved exponentially in the last year. High end, budget, whatever there is room for everyone. It's a lot like cars; personally I would rather have a Bugatti with a dented fender than a rolls Royce silver Spur in that I would rather have all the performance but sacrifice a little in aesthetics. That looks beautiful. I'd hit that.

CF Manta is bangin'.
Flavor and vapor both better than my other fave toppers - not like "whole new class" better, but better - and BOTH.
Tight little workspace - I knew that, and STILL the cap shorted it, and had to pull 'em in a little. Good thing I checked it. :D
As usual, I got sloppy mounting, but I DID nail my target on the first try: dual 7-wrap, 27 g; 2mm inner; for 0.46 ohms. I was aiming for 0.45, so "bam".
Nice atty!

Yeah, you have to be careful. I always use a rule to check that the outside edges of my coils are within about a 14mm space, or less, before putting the top cap on. The inside diameter of the top cap is about 14.6mm. I also use the rule to set the coil heights the same as the air slots inside the cap.

I don't think I can measure it. I've got more of a "give it a little nudge" approach - I'm kind of coil-tarded.
:D

But I will take a look at height, and maybe fiddle around with that a bit, thanks!

A little combination metric/inch stainless steel rule, which can be found at Home Depot or Lowe's, is a handy item to have in your coil building tool kit.
