Narda update: a little comparison
Airflow:
Stumpy wide open 8/10
Solstice wide open 9/10
Narda wide open 4/10
I'm running 6 wraps single coil of 28x3 twisted on a 3mm mandrel at .58.
Impressions so far:
Draw is a little tighter than I typically enjoy (I'm a 6-7 air kinda guy) but I'm adapting.
Had to go down from 52w on a stumpy to 42.5w on the Narda
I rate attys by flavor over air with a total score of 10
Stumpy 5/5 perfect balance for me
Solstice 4/6 more air than I need but I can dial it back to get it to 5/5
Narda 7/3 short on air but not so much so that it feels like a 14-16mm atty nice balance for the flavor hounds.
After
vaping the Narda I do notice the machine oil however not severely. The reduced air and smaller domed chamber actually amplifies the machine oil taste, if this were any other atty you would barely notice it. These will be delayed in shipping until tomorrow so I can take them all apart and run them
through the NASA grade ultrasonic cleaner. Once these are plentiful again I will stockpile a bunch of them as well as stumpys. As far as I'm concerned both are perfect for two different groups of people. Some days you wand clouds with great flavor, other days you want huge flavor with respectable clouds, I'll have you covered both ways.
To clarify in regards to the machine oil taste: the Narda I'm using is right out of the package with the BF pin drilled out to the same diameter as the stumpy (the same way I will be doing yours). The stock BF pin is drilled to either #60 or #61, that doesn't fly around here! These will all be drilled out to #54 (1.4mm) just like the stumpy and most other m2.5 or 4-40 center pins. When you get yours I would suggest a quick rinse with plain warm water to get the last little bit of ultrasonic cleaner solution off. I do rinse them but the cleaner is very bitter but it is water soluble unlike the machine oils it removed. If you see something that looks like white residue rinse it off. It can be a pain to get off the 510
threads but a rinse and a rubdown with a t-shirt or clean cotton rag works great.
