I don't taste or smell anything like what I would associate with patchouli. (The name really through me off the first time I ordered it)
Just the most incredibly delicious and luscious vanilla I've ever experienced of all the vanilla vapes I've searched.
It's been my adv everyday for these past two years.

That was my knee jerk reaction as well. In my mind Patchouli oil is the scent of a dirty hippy. I have minimal interest in vaping hippy sweat....

Yep, mine too.
But that was so far from the truth as I experienced.
But this last batch of concentrate was different from all my previous orders, not bad, just different from the first sniff.
I could smell alcohol and I've never detected that in my previous orders.
The house juice I got as a treat, was not the same at all, probably due to 100%vg instead of my usual 70/30 mix. Still steeping weeks later to see if I can use it.
But I don't like the clouds or flavor of VG, can't use it at work.

I use them standalone, I think anything I would have added would only muck them up.
Same here, just 5% of the vanilla to my unflavored base and give er' a shake.
No other concentrates to muck it up.
Its so easy to make tons of my favorite juice on the cheap!

I might be a bit off here but I don't think you vape flavors alone. You might want to add some nic. and some vg/pg. Not sure if that's what @jhhollier was asking.
Nah, I was asking if people were adding extra flavors along with the NN concentrate. Maybe some vanilla or creams or tobaccos etc.

No, you definitely wouldn't want to vape straight flavoring

Standalone, in the DIY sense, means they are good without adding other Flavors along with them to your base.

since we're on the topic of DIY juice what exactly would I need to make my own? I've never done it but have wanted to give it a go. To make it easy lets just say I wanted to do one flavor that is 50/50 with 8mg of nic.

Well lets start with the basic stuff.

1.Nicotine
2.Propylene glycol
3.Vegetable glycerine
4.Syringes and or beakers
5.Rubber gloves
6.Glass bottles/dark is better
7.Flavorings of your choice.
8.Freezer space to keep your nic in.
9.Paper towels lots of them.

Feel free to add to the list.:)

To start go to the DIY forum and read the stickies, there's lots of great/important information there.

Second, download a good DIY calculator like ejuice me up and play around with it for a bit to see how changing one variable effects the final product.

Then you can order your supplies, which you will have a much better grasp of after the reading. The easiest is to order your base pre mixed to your specs as far as nic level and PG/VG ratio. Remember when you add your flavoring it will dilute the nic level. I've found NN to be, to me, the nic of choice and as Tom and others have mentioned, to also have some good flavor concentrates (as well as bottles, mixing beakers, etc), pretty much a one stop shop.

As you get comfortable with it you can start ordering your base materials in bulk quantities and making your own. That's where the savings really start to kick in.

As far as what Flavors to use and at what percentages, that's where the fun of DIY lies. Start at lower percentages and work up till you find your sweet spot, which can vary wildly depending on the individual. Often in DIY, less is more.

DIY is not only fun and rewarding, with the looming FDA decision it may become essential.

This is a timely discussion, I've been considering taking the plunge into DIY as well. I've done a little reading so far & it often sounds like a science experiment but keeping it simple to start by just adding some flavoring to a base makes the most sense to me. I've looked at various "starter kits" & most say you don't need all that's included. What I have read so far seems to lean towards measuring with a scale & that's probably the direction I will go since the last thing I need is more "vape stuff/science experiment stuff" as my wife calls it sitting around the house.

And Tom is right, once I started going back to tanks for travel & upping the wattage my juice consumption has gone through the roof. Sticking with squonking on mechs or around 30 watts allows me to stick with premium juice & not having to get into DIY. It's a noticeable difference in consumption IMO.

I use a scale and mix by weight and it seems very efficient. I don't need pipettes or anything like that. I have one 120ml squeeze bottle for VG, one for PG and one for Nic. These are stored in the fridge. All of my flavorings are in 30ml dripper bottles. I keep these in a Rubbermaid tote. I have extra dripper bottles to mix test batches in and 120 ML bottles for when I come up with a winning recipe.

It's very convenient to just place an empty bottle on my scale and squeeze in the ingredients rather than using and cleaning syringes and/or pipettes every time I mix.

I love NN too - the nic is virtually tasteless (good thing IMO). Can't speak for the flavors, but the prices are awesome.

I been vaping NN unflavored since you mentioned it Sloth...after Tom mentioned the flavors they offer premixed I took another look. Because of the low prices I had to try a dozen different flavors.

I'm going to order their flavoring concentrates now and try the one flavor mixes others here talked about too....seems like a no-brainer.

May as well get on the DIY bandwagon before the FDA shuts everything down, plus save a ton of money not buying overpriced juice.

For the record.....out of all the threads on ECF, the interwebs & any other vape activity.....this ONE thread costs me the most money! Damn all of you! But as always, thanks to all of you for leading me down a path I am already sliding down at full speed. DIY coming up next :thumb:

I was told to use 5% flavoring and 1.25% of vg 5% sucralose to make the Tamerindo doh.

Wow, you like it sweet! 5% sucrose is 4% higher than I ever have used.

I must try this.
