In the same camp with Inspects on this one in that I also enjoy all of the attys I have.
What works well in one, may not always work well in another. The build, ( coil size, wire size, style, wicking, air flow as well as position of both coils and intakes) the power, the juice, and the drip tip ( often overlooked as a means to tune the vape) can make or break any atty on the market. A lot of vapers often get pigeon holed into one particular type of build. IMHO, the willingness to play and toss different builds at the different units most always results in getting the most the atty.
Take the drip tip thing for instance, line up ten different drip tips of varying bores, shapes and lengths then try each one on an atty and tell me you can't taste the differences in the vape using the different tips. Some changes will be subtle while others will be huge.
This is not to say that all attys are perfect and yes, I've come across a few dogs in my time as well, but more often then not, have found most to be pretty good while others to be fantastic.
