Anybody found a way to avoid using o-ring between the atty and 510 connector? I stopped using o-ring and it has been working fine. But if I am using PG heavy juice, the juice well (on Reo Grand) gets slowly filled and requires wiping. It isn't a big deal but was wondering if anybody found a workaround.
TIA

I just use one - why not? I use a very thin one, and HAPPY LUCK, it snugs up right when the coil is where I'd want it anyway. And between that and the design of it - it's my MOST totally leak-proof atty, hands-down.

Why not use an o ring ?

Mainly because of I am lazy. I destroyed a few by over tightening the atty and never bothered replace them. Since the leak was very minimal, I was ok with it initially but started to bug me last few weeks. While I was thinking about using the o-ring, I couldn't help but wonder if it can be designed better. (a simple trick to work around it)
Anyway, o-ring is back on. Thanks :D

I have two sizes, got both from Rob's site, 1mm x 10mm and 1.5mm x 10. They serve 3 purposes;

Stops leaking
protects the 510 and it's gasket from over tightening
allows me to position the air hole exactly where I want and still keep the atty tight on the mod

A little juice on the o ring acts like lube and will help keep it from getting buggered up when tightening it down.

Reo currently uses 510 connector with slots. This is necessary for the carto airflow but isn't necessary for the regular BF atty with air holes on the cap. Without these slots, the bottom of atty can connect to 510 flush and could do away with o-rings.

Problem with using o-ring for atty positioning is, the compression of o-ring will make the desired spot feeling too loose over time. Idiot like me will try to make another full turn to get it in the right position. I went through this several o-rings last year because of this.
