Universal timing...

This article was given to me on Thursday by a new vaper -- happens to be a nurse in local hospital, too. I delivered her kit the same day the article was printed. Didn't take any time (next day!) for a co-worker to try and save her from "those things." Thank goodness she's confident enough in her own ability to make a decision. She was a love and just wanted me to have a copy of the article.

E-cigarettes OK in Kanawha for now. - Kanawha County - Charleston Daily Mail - West Virginia News and Sports -

Unbiased reporting on those "contraptions" is a nice writer's touch, too...

Anyway, suggestions/experience on "reason for my appointment" when contacting Mr. Gupta's (Kanawha-Charleston Health Director) office to have a sit-down?

Thanks!

PMs welcome, too.

One suggestion would be to carry in the actual report that the FDA based their dog and pony story on. I quoted part of the conclusion in that report in a comment I left on the news article. You can find the report at- http://www.fda.gov/downloads/Drugs/ScienceResearch/UCM173250.pdf

You might also want to post a link to the list of lab reports put together by CASAA in the comments section of the news article you linked to. I ran out of characters in my post and when I went back to add another comment, I noticed they don't like back to back comments so I can only post again if someone posts after me.

Honestly it dosent overly surprise me to see this type of ignorance here in WV. I have pushed so hard to convert so many people in our area. The response given by so many is unbelievable. More often than not, it is due to a complete lack of information that is to blame. The number of West Virginians that blindly follow the lies is appalling. The information that rothenbj linked above is a very good start.

On the CASAA website you can access a scientific analysis of the FDA's report on e-cigarettes:

http://www.casaa.org/files/Exponent Response-to-the-FDA-Summary.pdf

It makes perfectly clear the flaws the FDA's "findings". No one with an open mind could give any credence to the agency's statements on e-cigarettes after reading this.

Of course, open-mindedness is not what you're going to be dealing with, most likely.

Good luck.

I left a comment after yours, Jim, so you can go back and add some more thoughts. Actually, Dr. Gupta's comments indicated a lack of knowledge about the products, but did not exhibit the the type of prejudice that we have seen from some other public health officials. He was expressing some concerns, which provides an opening for a dialog that would allow him to learn more. And at least he is not calling for an immediate ban ("until they are proven safe"). He admits that there is no evidence they are harmful but holds out the possibility of banning them if they are shown to be harmful. Innocent until proven guilty is a much preferable approach than the opposite approach being urged by the antis.

I agree. Mr. Gupta's concerns were not invalid when based on a lack of information. He is worth a face-to-face, letter, etc.

Thank you all for your suggestions!

Ruppy, I do understand your frustration. Don't lose hope though. Believe me, WV doesn't corner the market on any kind of ignorant prejudicial tendencies.
