Yeah right!!
I had a stupid idea that I would be able to save money vaping instead of using analogs.

New hobbies cost a lot................Fun though..............

Depends. Yeah. A Riva kit, a 60ml bottle of juice, and a 5 pack of good cartos could easily reduce costs vs. analogs in a short time frame (a week).

The reality is, most of us spend a good bit before we settle down and really start seeing the savings. But it certainly can be done.

I know I've saved a lot, even after trying lots of different equipment, juices, and so on.

Have only been vaping about 14 weeks with drastically reduced analog intake and 3 since I quit buying cigs completely. Not at the break-even point just yet but close. I have a very minimal eGo PV rig plus a 4081 backup kit that works well for me. Haven't bought a lot of juices yet either. Not planning on much more hardware right now except for maybe a 510 box mod. Total of about $160 so far and could go another 2 - 3 weeks without buying a single drop of juice if i had to - Not that I plan on trying to stretch it. Was spending about $40 a week for cigarettes so It won't take long to catch up. Down the road, If I spend an average of $10 a week on juices once I get it all dialed in, I will be saving a huge amount. But thats me. I'm trying to free up some ready cash for other interests in addition quitting analogs. YMMV

As you so rightly observed in the OP, it is a fun process too. Many have found a great new hobby and even a new business with these things. Not to mention the health benefits. Its all good!

Depends one how much you smoked. To me, my whole starter kit cost little more than what I used to spend on cigs in a week.

Also, this

I doubt if I've saved a penny. I don't care though- I'm not smoking!

Besides, how can you put a price on your health, at lest you are not inhaling 4,000 cancer causing clemicals found in analogs! That is worth all the money in the world

Definitely not here.

I would spend roughly $30 a month on tobacco and tubes (RYO). In the first week vaping, I've spent about $175 for my Mega T-Rex, a third battery, various atomizers of different resistances, cartomizers, and of course juice. I'm thinking about getting a DIY box mod kit from MadVapes to try out 5v vaping, so of course that means more batteries and a charger...

I expect that I'll settle down with the purchases soon enough though. If I can get down to $1 a day, I'll be more than happy.

Just wanted to let you know I have the DIY box mod 5v Madvapes it is great - so much so that I use it when at my PC almost exclusively over my EGO T and ALI'i box mod. You would be extremely happy with that mod.

Give it time. After finding the right PV for me (Reo Mini) and my perfect juice (FSUSA's StrawberryKiwi), I'm basically in maintenance mode. Over the past two months, I've spent maybe $100 on juice and atties. Of course to get there I went through the typical overpriced terrible starter kit, fat battery kr8s, Ego-Ts, and various cartos and atties. And the juice! It took a lot of trial and error, every time I thought I had finally found my "all day" juice it'd suddenly start tasting bad or I'd find something even better.

I've been vaping since 1/11/11, quitting analogs on day one as a 1PAD smoker. I haven't done the math, but with my initial outlay up to this point and a $75/mo ongoing cost (rough estimate, depending on sales and eventual battery and atty replacement), I should break even this month or next and actually start saving. Of course that assumes I don't break down and buy a Reo Grand and the necessary batteries :)

I ONLY spent 30 dollars a month on smoking tobacco. I used to roll my own to the tune of 4 dollars every 5 days. I bought close to 100 dollars of e-cig supplies ( Including e-cig kit with 2 e-cigs). I know I have enough stuff to last me 4 months aside from getting a replacement atty now and then. That's about the same as I would have spent and it's way cheaper than what most people spend on cigarettes. I vape between 18 and 24MG and I vape all day.

Now your right, this is so much fun I want to spend more on it and may spend a little but I feel it's justified. This is your reward for quitting smoking. You spent many thousands of dollars over the years destroying your body with tobacco smoke, now you can spend some of that on a fun, socially healthy, harmless method to stay off the cancer causing cigarettes.

Thats the kit I was looking at too - either that or the 3.7 volt. Glad to know it works well. Really inexpensive intro to mods. Just add another $15-20 max for batteries/charger and use my existing 510 cartos, attys etc. Hard to beat that.

Thanks! Your recommendation put me over the top and I made the purchase yesterday. Just got my shipping notification as well.

The way I figure, on Friday I'll be dropping about $100 on VP stuff that could last me a few months all on it's own easy (Mega eGo, Drip Tips, Juice). At the price of cigarettes, that's 17 days of smoking just a pack a day of analogs. The best part is, even though I'm spending more money at once than I would be, Vaping gives me the freedom to be able to choose when, where, how and why I want to spend money on it. Unlike cigarettes, which were a mandatory minimum of 6 dollars a day, every day.

Amen to that, Brother!
Cigarettes are cheap down here in Mexico - like $3 a pack - and in just 6 weeks of vaping, I have managed to spend around $300 on hardware and juices...but who's counting?
