Use the silicone rubber drip-tip condoms to cushion the blow. I ride a bike pretty much every where I go and doing 80 mph down the interstate makes for a real possibility of banging a tooth or two. Solution was to acquire the tip condoms. Some drip tips are a little small so also added a bit of heat shrink to take up the extra room. Works great until I bite thru it. So I just replace it. The place I buy juice sells these for about $6 per a 100. Lot less expensive than getting a chipped tooth repaired.

Yes, I am very fearful chipping a tooth. Which is why I opt for acrylic.
My bouncy 2 year old has indeed caused me to hit my teeth with the drip tip a couple of times, all thankfully when I was using my acrylic tips.
I now rarely use the metal tips and never around bouncy children..

The fear stems from when a past friend decided to tip the large glass mug I was drinking from into my teeth, leaving me with an expensive chipped ceramic crown. (Crown is from breaking the original adult tooth in a skating accident)

Maybe I'll get a fancy wood drip tip one day.
