Like I said above, I think animals know more than we often give them credit for. And the older dog reminded me a lot of my dog friend Gilbert, a really special, kind dog. Maybe they should make a breed of this yellow dog mutt kind of dog. No, I guess then they'd ruin it.

Yeah - they probably would.

Good morning Volties! Coffee's on and blueberry muffins hot from the oven for everybody. Also, take a look at this adorable video "dog teaches puppy to come down steps"...

Puppy teaching Puppy to go down stairs! SO cute! - ORIGINAL VIDEO! (from owner) - YouTube

Wow - Loved this video!! Thanks! :)

Too funny! Thanks for sharing Uncle!

Uncle - That was hilarious!!

GREAT photographs Sandy and Butch!! picture.gif

Rave - what touching story. Thanks for sharing. Don't know about you but I tend picture things as I read ...
Amazing how he came to snuggle to let you know he wasn't feeling good ...

Not many birds other than some members of the parrot family will actually snuggle. I have a friend with a green aracari. It will snuggle in her jacket and loves to chase cat toys with bells in 'em. It will also lie down on the top of its cage to sunbathe. Weird birds!

So all the fur-kids are happy and munching inside. Occasionally sunning themselves in a protected area by the door ...

We've not had a temp for the past 3 hours. That's fine by me! So, what do hardy Minnesotan's do on a day like this?
Why - we have a bowl of ice cream! (I told mom it was her fault! She got it out! Hadn't touched the stuff in over a year!)

LOL - reminds me of a visit from the in-laws when we were first married (almost 33 years ago).
Electric heat installed at the ceiling (go figure) ... cranked as high as it would go = it was never over 50 degrees.

What did we do one cold January day - got out the ice cream maker and made some!
Mom-n-law and I wrapped in sleeping bags in front of the space heater - eating ice cream!

Bless her heart / memory: she was so fun!

Loving the photos Butch.
I think that one is a liatris? Sometimes I'm right and other times not so much:)

Raven - I loved that little toucanette. He would bounce all over the living room. He would hop up onto the couch and then up onto the back of the couch and sun himself in the window. I'm sure strangers were quite surprised to see him. Tooke was fairly feisty and if he didn't want to be picked up he would grab me by the skin with the tip of his beak and twist.

He required fresh fruits of various types and he got dry dog food and wet dog food and maybe some mealworms [if I remember correctly since that had to be 30 years ago now]. Terribly messy. The cage and the area near it had to be cleaned constantly. I stopped by the grocery store every couple days to make sure he got fresh fruits. A lot of work but he was so cute.

Hi, Uncle, long time, no hear from. I laughed at some of the things she said in the video, since I'm getting old, too. Here's a poem I've always enjoyed. They even paraphrased it for horsewomen, but I'll put the original here:

When I Am Old.

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me,
And I shall spend my pension
on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals,
and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired,
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells,
And run my stick along the public railings,
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens,
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat,
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go,
Or only bread and pickle for a week,
And hoard pens and pencils and beer mats
and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry,
And pay our rent and not swear in the street,
And set a good example for the children.
We will have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practise a little now?
So people who know me
are not too shocked and surprised,
When suddenly I am old
and start to wear purple!

Jenny Joseph

I like your new avatar. Are you a fan of the Green Man? I've always been partial to him, too.

I received the confirmation email and entered this on my calendar. There is an access code and another for audio. Do I have to enter these right before the meeting?

I didn't have the particular software loaded on my machine from citrix. I downloaded it and it took me directly to the webinar. I didn't have to put the access code in.

I'd keep it handy just in case. There were a few people that had issues last night.

If you'd like to see what it looks like to actually land on an alien world have a look at this, a landing on Titan, a moon of Saturn, by the space craft Huygens -

Konstantine, in the US we are all protected heavily, from ourselves, by our Government. As a kid I used to be able to buy all sorts of chemicals, fire crackers, BB guns and many other things, that today, are considered far too dangerous for adults to have, let alone children. After all, we might hurt ourselves. I understand there is a study on to determine the effectiveness of installing padding on all sharp edges found in the typical home to reduce injury from falls or bumping into them. There are already regulations on faucets and bath faucets limiting the temperature of the hot water they can dispense. In the US, common sense and personal responsibility are vanishing traits, replaced by regulation to protect us from ourselves.

Well said awsum. To me its called over regulation.
Dugh I be turning on only the hot water!!!! Me no need common sense!!! Goverment will fix

That was good SandySu!

Love the Liatris! (Blazing Star???) Great photo no matter what it's called!
Too many years since I had a rock garden - believe I had that plant!
Anyway - was thinking earlier different things Awsum has said / his picture - he reminds me of one of the Bro-n-laws.

OMG! I just vaped the best sweet tart juice ever! It has the same feeling in my mouth as if I had actually eaten a sweet tart. Oh, how to describe... it left a chalky type feeling, just like the real thing! You can find it at the vapor room.

I tried it in a CE3 with a 65 battery. Yummy! One of the best things about vaping is that you can have all the sweets you want without worry of calories! :)

Tail is doing her happy dance! :)

The poem was great, SandySu.

The video was so funny, Uncle.

Blazing Star is liatris and I never got any to grow in this yard since the ground squirrels dug up everyone of my 50 bulbs and took them somewhere to eat them. By the way, ground squirrels like tulip bulbs, as well.

Uncle -- I had seen that video before but laughed just as hard watching it this time. Thanks for sharing it.

Forgive me if I'm remembering wrong, but I think it was Sandy who asked me to report after I made almond milk. Well, today I finally made some. It tastes good, but since I've never tasted the store-bought kind, I can't compare them.

It was very easy to make: blend water, almond flour, vanilla, dash of salt and some honey. The usual way is to start with whole almonds. But since almond flour is just ground up almonds and I already have a lot of it, I made it with the almond flour. Made it a lot easier and faster to make.

The next time I make some I want to experiment by adding some cocoa powder and a little extra sweetener.

How very hippie of you. I like it. Next you'll be making home made yogurt. Hubby and I were making home made yogurt when he worked at the milk factory. He got gallons of milk for free so we thought it was a good use of free resources.

Pass the bongos someone!

Ah - As I have said before, although "You" may not hear from "Me" as much as I use to post - I am always around reading all the post in the "Voltville" Chit Chat Thread and even scan some of the others too . . . AND even though I enjoy all the post and hearing about what is happening with everyone here, I just don't have all that much to add to the current conversations . . . SO, either I wait till something "hits" me or that I want to comment about or feel that is worth while to post - that's all . . .

Oh and as for "Jenny Joesph" Poem - Always "liked" that one . . .

AND - I hope everyone knows about the "Red Hat" Society Women - They're a REALLY GREAT GROUP . . . :D

BTW: @ "Awsum" - Just as an FYI - Even though I cannot remember the who or where I met him on the forum, but I know that there is a ECF Member that works in a "Homeless" Shealter who has been arranging/getting eCigs for those who want to stop smoking that he distributes them too . . . I think if you did a search or went to the PIF Sub-forum someone could point him out to "You" - Maybe he can help "You" arrange something for where you help out . . . Also - There is a Vendor on ECF that is distributing "FREE" (absolutely no cost) Disposable to people who want to try and quite smoking using an eCig (PM Being sent with name) Maybe if you talk with them - they might be willing to send your group a whole box of them to distribute . . . Just a thought ;)

Okay - That's it for "Me" right now . . . :D

I think this is an interesting concept. If a homeless person didn't use disposables, where would he/she plug them in to recharge them? Maybe at the shelter? Does the guy who distributes them give people rechargeable ones or just disposables?

Here's a pretty sky. Yes, it was a photo taken in summer. I think it's interesting that this was taken next to a restaurant just outside of town called the Woodland Roadhouse. Why? I always wondered. The nearest tree was at least a quarter mile away. The restaurant has since closed, and a new one with a different name has opened there. I haven't eaten there yet, and I'm looking for a chance to. I'm curious to see how it is.

CORRECTION @ "White Rabbit" . . . (Thanks "awsum" :D)

As far as I know they are only disposables . . . However, I am pretty sure anyone Homeless can occasionally find and access an electrical outlet to use - here in Florida and I know in Philadelphia/New York City there are building with electrical outlets that can be accessed . . . AND in addition since there are many "Homeless" that are entitled to and can get cell phones via "Safelink" if they recieve any benifits (Food Stamps, LAHEAP, etc.) I know they can also charge them at Public Libraries/Shelters/Etc. . . . So if they had a Rechargeable eCig Battery they probably could do the same . . . ;)
