I recently finished reading an entire book and I am starting on another one:)

Really, I can only do so much physical labor at a time anymore but I guess I do like staying sort of busy.

If I do a couple of hours of yard cleanup this morning then I will be done until this afternoon when I could maybe do another bit of clean up.

Cleaning houses has gotten to be much harder for me than it used to be but I am hanging in there since I like making extra money. On days when I clean a house, I feed and water the critters and not much more!

Here's a photo to contemplate on this cold day. It's lichen on a rock, and I was fascinated by a close-up view. Look at all the interesting patterns.

It looks like a zoomed out google land map! How cool!

We're all not as young as we used to be, so physical stuff gets harder, but think of what great shape you're in, and you don't even need a gym membership. This reminds me of when Bill & I were traveling in New Hampshire, and we were chatting with a grizzled old potato farmer when a young fellow jogged by on the road. The farmer scratched his head and said how he didn't understand all this jogging and exercise in gyms. Why, if that guy wanted exercise, he could come load potato bags onto a truck, and the farmer would even pay him to do it.

That is how I feel. I can grow veggies and work with the critters and clean up my 5 acres and build sheds and fences and that is exercise. Why would I bother to go to the gym and actually pay them when I am actually paying myself by saving money and doing it myself?

We don't hire people around here. We do it ourselves. That means I don't have to have a full time job and I get to be at home and I like that. Especially since Hubby always works alternative hours. I sure wouldn't want to be gone when he is home.

Uh Oh! Hubby is almost done repairing my hedge trimmer. That means I need to get off my .... and get something done:)

He is being so sweet by getting out there and repairing my machine right away this morning.

Wow! I almost feel as if I get a workout vicariously through you, Lizzie.

Good Morning Volties!

I use the term "good" loosely. It is a meager 3 degrees here. Lexi is one of those dogs that conserves energy at all costs. Not when I opened the door to let her back inside from her morning call of nature. She ran inside! It will be a good day for me to keep a fire going in the fireplace and think warm thoughts.

Speaking of warm thoughts, the coffee's hot. It's nothing fancy - just generic coffee, but it'll warm the insides.

It didn't get as cold here, the temp was a huge 7º this morning. I put a sweater on Emma before letting her out, but she still stayed out only as long as necessary. We're all the way up to 11º now and the sun shining on me through the window feels warm. But I'm not going outside! I was one of the folks who went to the Freezer Bowl game here in Cincinnati. Took hours to get any feeling back in my hands and feet. I don't do going outside when it's that cold anymore.

Good Morning everyone,

I have just been doing some DIY, not accomplishing anything in particular. Lizzie and others, please PM me with any new juice receipes. I found that Wizard Labs Peach at about 4 to 5% plus a drop of orange is quite good to clean the mouth up a bit between other flavors. Not an all day vape, but good none the less. I am waiting for a reply from someone on Heathers Heavenly Vapes forum about discount codes. HHV5 doesn't work anymore and being a cheapskate, I will wait to order when I get a discount:laugh:

I haven't seen Debra on lately, maybe I need to go back and check the posts again. Being on the other side of the world it is difficult to chat.

Catch you all later, looks like a cold spell all across the USofA, but no snow here in Maryland.

I was wondering about Debra, too. Not that it's been so long since we heard from her, but I think we didn't hear from her last night, and that's unusual. I hope she's OK.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Another cold-weather scene, just in case you need a reminder. This was a small waterfall at the side of the road, a creek flowing down from the wooded hillside that edged the road.

IMG_0133_zps92ebc222.jpeg

That's way to much frozen water for my taste. All I need is enough for four finger of JD, LOL. Kind of pretty though.

Debra is doing fine, I think. She sent me a PM last night and is getting into DIY.

Getting older isn't as much fun as I thought it would be in my teens. I still do all the hard chores and will be taking down two big sweet gum trees in the backyard soon, we're tired of raking up those cottin pickin spiked seed pods so they're going to help heat my neighbors house next winter. I will miss some of the shade the one, in particular, gives in the summer, but I sure won't miss using a leaf rake for hours at a time three or four times a year.

Deb is ok but in a worried state. Because of your concern, not breaking any confidentiality, we have "talked" through pm. She has been working on ordering diy supplies and extra equipment in preparation for the possible ban on exporting nic liquids from the US. They have a few vape shops there but all liquids are 0 nicotine... even the USA liquids. The Austrialian customs will soon be cracking down even harder on them. She told me last night that she will be back to Voltville soon.

Aw - I feel for ya, Deb. It's a sad state of affairs right now. The whole situation has me concerned enough that I just got another 500ml of unflavored nic from MFS. Guess I'll need to play freezer Tetris again.

I was considering diy because of all this, but after reading the long list of dangers with high level nic, this will not be an option for me. I do not have an area to work with it safely. For me, I'm stocking up on high level prepared liquids that I like, that I will be able to stretch with same flavor 0 nic liquids later. Another concern is... the possible ban on all pv's made after 2007. That would be the only reason for me to consider a device that uses 18650 replaceable batteries... like the Smoktech gripper vv, more in my budget. I just hope it doesn't come to that.

The poem was great, SandySu.

The video was so funny, Uncle.

Blazing Star is liatris and I never got any to grow in this yard since the ground squirrels dug up everyone of my 50 bulbs and took them somewhere to eat them. By the way, ground squirrels like tulip bulbs, as well.
Lizzie - Have you tried sprinkling medicated body powder around the bulbs? That seemed to help for a couple years! Also recommended is 'chicken wire' just lightly covered so they lil varmits can't reach them.

Here's a pretty sky. Yes, it was a photo taken in summer. I think it's interesting that this was taken next to a restaurant just outside of town called the Woodland Roadhouse. Why? I always wondered. The nearest tree was at least a quarter mile away. The restaurant has since closed, and a new one with a different name has opened there. I haven't eaten there yet, and I'm looking for a chance to. I'm curious to see how it is.

Another great pic!

You all have a GREAT night !!!
Hi Raynes! How are you? Hope you had a great night yourself! :)

Good Morning Volties! Thanks for the coffee Rave. A hot cup of coffee is truly needed on a COLD day @ 22 degrees. Adding high gusty winds to the mix... great day to stay inside. At least it's sunny for a change. No walk for Spanky today! Oh no.. not me!! He will have to make due with running in the backyard chasing critters for exercise. He loves the cold but alas his mommy does not.
That's the beauty of the CKCS's! They don't require LOTS of walking! Just lots of love (from a warm heart and home)!

Well it's warmed up to a balmy 24 so far this morning with 30+ mph wind. Bo didn't seem to mind his walk this morning even with the snow we got last night. For a little while it looked like we were really in for it, then it stopped almost as fast as it started and just left an inch or so. By the end of next week they're calling for the 60's again. Well ,if you don't like the weather, just wait a little, it'll change.
 Sorta what is said around here - "Don't like the forecast? Keep changing the channel - you'll find a better one!" Tis a nice 8 above and NO wind! Even the horses are out frolicking right now!

I must have been a bear in my past life... they hibernate through winter! :)
:laugh::laugh: ... and what's wrong with bears??? :D

Here's a photo to contemplate on this cold day. It's lichen on a rock, and I was fascinated by a close-up view. Look at all the interesting patterns.

IMG_0041_zpsbd408b47.jpeg
Ha! I saw a horse in that! Top of the head "cut off" but nose (upper left) and front legs (like up as in a flying lead change) and body! :D
Great pic! I'll have to google "Lichen". The only time I heard the term used was in conjunction w/ eczema.
Glad you went with the drive! Even w/o frostbite - your shoulder muscles will most likely thank you! :)

I'm passing the liter of 100mg nicotine now and trying to figure out which VV that takes 18650s is the best bang for the buck, 'caus I want to stockpile four of them, just in case.

Be careful if you decide to walk today SandySu... you don't want to slip and fall on black ice!

I see you are from SW Ohio. Are you far from the Amish area? Went down there from Akron (sis) a couple times! It was fun. Wish I could recall the place we had brunch. Big pond outside the window we sat at - geese being fed out there. Yummy food!

While I don't like the reminder right now - that would be a great wall mural for summer months!

Thanks for sharing JoAnn. I have been thinking along the same lines: stock up stock up - not just on this stuff tho.
Back to wondering if I'll be looking to into DIY patches! How much of what nic mg on a band-aid!
I've heard Wizard Labs is a good vendor - who is MFS?

If I understand correctly, these batteries are readily available. I'm still looking at different vv options... for me, something simple, so many to consider.

All you scientists or wannabe scientists -- I have a question. I have a soft spot in my heart for the kind of post cards that have some of their picture in a fuzzy surface that's sensitive to the weather -- humidity, I presume? I have 3 I've saved over the years, and I just noticed that for a long while, they've stayed pink, which indicates rainy weather. They are supposed to change to blue when it's clear (like today). But see here, they are still pink. Does the stuff wear out after a number of years, and why does it choose to be pink instead of blue, if it does get stuck in one color?

IMG_0118_zps503b2499.jpeg

These are my post cards, so you'll know what I'm talking about. The pink fuzzy surface is on the sails of the Cape May one, on the drums of the Spirit of '76 one, and on the sails of the Bangor one.

Well, I'm no scientist nor to I play one on TV, but any chemical reaction has a finite life. That's why batteries wear out, litmus paper no longer turns color (a one time example) and, I strongly suspect, your post cards. I've got to ask how old they are. I haven't seen ones like that in a LONG time.
