Rave said she enjoyed my photos, and I hope others do, too, so here's one of a horse, and I'll tell her story, too. This is Luna, a quarter horse mare, owned by a former fellow boarder.

I love this photo, because Luna looks so balanced and together. The barn owner and I turned her out in the outdoor ring and chased her around so I could get some photos of her to do a portrait that the barn owner was going to give to Luna's owner, Kelly, as a gift. We decided on a head shot, but I always liked this photo best, so I thought I'd share it with you.

Kelly and Luna were a real pair. Though Kelly has other horses, Luna was always her special girl. They were closely bonded, like Penny and I are, not just a horse and owner. One of the times that this bond came home to me was that Kelly and her family were in a bad car accident. She broke her leg rather badly and was in a wheelchair for a while. One day after some recuperation, she went to the barn to see Luna. The barn owner had taken Luna in from the pasture and put her in a stall before Kelly arrived. Then Kelly wheeled down the barn aisle to Luna's stall. Luna put her head over the Dutch door to Kelly, who just embraced her. Luna had a look of utter contentment on her face. While Kelly was laid up, others rode Luna, but she never really seemed happy with the attention. When I saw Kelly and Luna at the stall door, tears welled up in my eyes, it was so moving. I wish I had had my camera with me that day.

Probably sooner than the doctor said, Kelly was riding Luna again. Luna was very patient and gentle with Kelly. I think she knew Kelly was hurt. As time went on, Kelly healed completely and went back to jumping Luna and showing her, and trail riding, all the things they had done before. But Luna was getting old, and Kelly kept looking for a horse to take Luna's place when Luna got too old for that kind of activity and was retired.

I moved Penny from that barn to where I board her now, and I hadn't seen Kelly in a while. I heard she got another, younger horse she was pleased with, and I guess Luna was retired or maybe just used for gentle trail rides.

Then one day after I broke my arm, I bumped into Kelly in town. She said she had put Luna down. By then, she seemed OK with it, but I'm sure it was devastating at the time.

So this photo and story is in memory of a great horse.

Sandy, that's one of the finer-looking QH's that I've seen. Very well put together; she looks like she'd be an excellent ride. And what fantastic coloring! With a good disposition, that would be a very expensive horse.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Awsum, just for you, here's music I grew up with.

E. Power Biggs - Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor - YouTube

My father was a musician. He played the organ in church as well as taught lessons. When I was a kid, he learned to play this piece and he'd practice it at home on the piano. He didn't have the pedals on the piano, of course, so when that low note from the pedals came up, he'd sing, "Brrrrr," with his voice in a low tone. I thought that was funny.

You must have lived in a big house, an organ like that needs lots of room! I just listened on the laptop but want to go back and listen to it from my desktop with a real sound system.

We've been to see "Phantom" four times, and enjoy it even more each time. The staging is amazing and nothing, nothing, beats a live orchestra in the theatre.

We didn't have a pipe organ at home. My dad practiced the fingering on the piano. Then he'd go to the church and practice on the organ, too. But he did a lot of work on the piece at home on the piano.

I haven't seen "Phantom" onstage, but I read the book and saw the movie. In fact, the movie was the first I had ever seen in high-definition on a big-screen TV. And I got the book in a yard sale. I forget how much I paid for it, but probably not more than a dollar. While I was reading it, it occurred to me that it was a first edition, so I looked it up online, and yes, it was valuable! So I sold it to a local book dealer for $300, I think. That's the kind of thing that only happens once in a lifetime.

While Rave was posting voice overs, I was off on a totally different tangent. I started thinking of music I like that I first read of in a book. One of my favorites is Albinoni's Adagio in G Minor. It was some sort of sci-fi book, and the protagonist kept listening to this. Here's the version I know and love: Albinoni: Adagio in G minor - YouTube

But you know how YouTube is. While you are listening to something, they have all these other tantalizing options alongside, and I noticed something I was unfamiliar with. The Doors did this, too. I was very curious, and maybe you are, too, so here it is: The Doors - Albinoni's Adagio in G Minor (Unpublished Song) - YouTube

Which version do you prefer? I have to say I like the first one, maybe just because I'm so familiar with it. I bet Debra, who loves the Doors, will prefer their version. Then again, maybe not. There's no telling till she tells us.

This is the version that I hear...
Renaissance - Cold Is Being - YouTube

If I could insert the video I would but I don't know how...

But I have loved that version for decades....

And now I love it, too! Depressing lyrics, but it's a beautiful song. The melody is so lovely, isn't it?

BTW, I insert the URL like you do, too, because I don't know how to insert the video as others do, either, but it works just the same, so I figure it's good enough.

Love your cat stories B! Sounds like you definitely COULD zero in on that poor kitty's mind. You came to her rescue even though she probably didn't thank you properly. What's her name?

It really has taken days to respond - and when I finally answer, you may understand why I have been a bit reticent in responding....

That particular cat's name, even though I don't want to relinquish it to the general public..... is..... (are you ready for this - it's hard for me to spell it out)........

.... her name is Luvy Duvy .....cat Hare......

And that's why it's such an embarrassment..... dear wifey or who is better known as SWMBO named her that and I was stuck with taking her to the vet the first time and announcing her name with flushed face and cringing attitude.

As far as I'm concerned, the furface is simply "kitty". She doesn't mind that and I don't mind calling her that. As long as we are both happy, all is well...

Therin lies the reason that it has taken so long for an answer. Some things aren't easy to relinquish...

What a nice day here at the Old Ranchero:) 54 for the high and no wind.

Got some brush and weeds gathered up and burnt.

Hung out and watched a movie with my Honey.

Went out played with Wiseguy who was a very good little horsey. We did a few turns on the 12' lead. He knows what he is doing even if I don't:) We did a few backs, whoas and stands. We worked on a couple of stretches.

Have a great night folks.
