Happy Valentines Day for all the Valentines out there!

I'm sick of snow, sick of winter and tired of having to change shoes every time I come in the door and tired of trying to figure out how many layers I need today to stay warm outside. We had about three inches of wet snow last night, again, and it started melting as soon as it stopped. Everything is sopping wet outside and we're supposed to get more, again, tomorrow night. Is it spring yet?

Happy Valentine's Day back at you!!! So what wonderful things are you planning for Mrs Awsum today?

Ditto!!!!.. the statement in "blue" :grr:

Nothing real special, just doing ALL the laundry, vacuum, just made triple chocolate brownies, make sure our alternative heat sources are ready with lots of fuel and anything else that may come along. Baked hake for dinner with brown rice and medly veggies, and maybe a little Bailey's after dinner.

Back at ya Wabbit!!! So what are your plans for Mrs. Wabbit?

I am taking her out to dinner, then we are going to a show called Rock and Roll Revival. Yesterday I put up two new porch lights because our old ones (that I bought "cheap") were rusting, so this time I bought ones that can't rust, they are made of a polycarbonate and were "pricey", but match our post lantern. She is a happy wabbit

You're not supposed to get more snow than we do! We started off gray in the morning, but yesterday turned sunny and not too cold. Today is gray again, and we might get rain or snow this afternoon or this evening. I don't mind snow, but our driveway has a lot of ice, which is treacherous. The shade from the house always keeps the driveway from melting just where you want to walk to get from the house to the car, though everywhere else is clear. I have Spikeys for a pair of shoes, but once you are out of the driveway, you don't need them, so hobbling carefully over several feet of ice is what I usually do. I'd rather have snow than ice. Well, this ice was once snow, till things started to melt and it got packed down.

Let's hope for spring soon as the groundhog promised.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone.

Happy Valentine's Day to you also Sandy!

Snow is beautiful when it's falling... blanketing everything in white... the stillness... BUT, after it's down a while, it gets so ugly, a lovely gray/black crud. salt and plow trucks, tire tracks and exhaust fumes accumulate, packing it down into.. ugh! One of the reasons they call it black ice? Snow and ice stays on my side of the street longer than the other side... taking twice as long to GO AWAY!!

Hurry up Springtime! I'm sooo ready.

I assume (LOL) that those new polycarbonate lights are either solar or have LED or curly fried fluorescent light bulbs in them so you remain politically correct. (tuff typing with tongue in cheek)

Well... if that's ALL you do for Mrs. Awsum  today then I guess she will just have to accept it. :thumb: ;) :toast:

You should know the Wabbit by now! buy the least expensive item, later when it wears out, buy the expensive one which lasts.
That is why I will most likely end up with a ProVari sometime in the future. I replaced our post lantern several years ago with the more expensive (almost like plastic but better) model and now have replaced all of the front lights with the same model so thay all look alike.

Yes, they have the Al Gore bulbs (curly models), and Yes, they come with a 7 year guarantee which I saved on my shed wall and I have already used it to get one that burned out in three years. Did the same with Sears garden hose, guaranteed for 10 years. Whoever heard of a garden hose guaranteed for 10 years, and it didn't. Sooooooooo Sears replaced it with the newer model now guarandeed for LIFE . Are they crazy? I save all of my reciepts, so I now have 200' of garden hose guaranteed for life! No wonder Sears is having financial problems.

Sounds like Awsum is going to spoil his wifey rotten by doing the household chores and making a fine meal. My kind of special day:)

I am presuming that hake is a fish.

Home repairs for the holidays. You are also my kind of guy, Wabbit:)

Happy Valentine's Day to ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

My hubby got the hedge trimmer fixed yesterday and then made sure it was running properly this morning. He is feeling a lot better. The phone rang this morning and he made the mistake of answering it. His job called him in. They are short handed. So, since he is feeling better and it is only until 3:30, he said Yes.

I think I will make him a home made cheese and ham pizza for dinner.

Busy day. Want to bake some bread [store bought isn't cutting it]. Need to work on picking up the house. Possibly finish the last of the yard clean up. The goat pen could always be raked out. One last seed order to put in.

Hope everyone has a lovely Valentines Day.

You have a lovely Valentine's Day, too, even though you'll be so busy. You always are. Your energy is impressive!

Lizzie, if you ever had a Mickey D's fish sandwich, you've had hake. Nice light flavor, good texture and cooks very nicely holding its moisture. A little garlic and onion powder, maybe some fresh sliced tomato on top and it's a nice main dish. Tonight I'll use fresh diced onion and garlic for a little change.

You do seem to stay really busy, every day! Take it a little easier today, it's Valentines Day! (even if that is a holiday invented by Hallmark to sell more cards!)

Happy Valentine's Day to all.

My SI order got to my PO branch early this morning.....maybe I'll get it today! Just so they don't lose this one and I do get it. I won't rest easy till I have it in hand. lol

I hate to add a sour note, everyone's in such a good mood. But I got a phone call yesterday and again today from the same number from a guy with a foreign accent telling me I would be getting a new Medicare card and they wanted me to verify my information. Funny he called back today after I dispatched him yesterday.

Looks like the Medicare scam is back. Or maybe still going on? All of you retired folks here are too smart to fall for it, but thought I'd give a heads-up anyway.

I think you are giving Mickey D's too much credit! There may be some semblance to Hake somewhere in their fish sandwich but I don't think it's true fish like what you are preparing for dinner. Now that's true 100% fish. Not processed fish like Mickey D's. Big difference!

They keep throwing it out constantly because every now and then someone will take the bait. It's terrible how the scammers try to take advantage of seniors like that... preying on the unwary! So glad you didn't fall for it and thanks for the heads up!

Happy Valentine's Day to you too Marlou :)

I'm no Michey D's fan at all, although their fries are still the best fast food fries. I found out they were using hake years ago, as in over thirty years ago (age is getting to be pesky). They may have changed things by now, almost everything has been cheapened to maximize profit by everybody, but I still suspect the main component s hake. Hake is a pretty inexpensive fish, especially considering its quality.
