Well, I am trying to wrap up my day of working outside. So lovely. I figured out why the greenhouse was getting so cold overnight, I think. The dirt had come away from the foundation and day light was coming in so you know the cold air was getting in there.

Transplanted some chrysanthemums and some iris. Started redoing the rock border for the tree island in the middle of the driveway. Took the extra rocks up to the greenhouse with a wheelbarrow for heat absorption. Dug out those darn golden rods that are trying to take over the world. Those were a mistake. Tough but not that pretty and trying to spread. The other mistake is that Feather Reed grass witch looks pretty but is very invasive.

Gotta take a load of golden rods out to a dry area to kill them and then into the compost they go:)

The animals are fed but I need to work on feeding us peeps soon.

Daylight Savings time is already starting so set your clocks ahead before you go to bed!

Of course, Deb and Kon can ignore that. Goodnight, Kon.

daylight saving starts here in oct ends in april...queensland use to go by it....but the pin was pulled few yrs back....you must be one fit lady lizzie....

If you don't like invasive plants, avoid bamboo. That will spread everywhere, and it's hard to control once it gets started.

Thanks for the reminder about daylight savings time.

your right about the bamboo....a fellow few doors up....has it growing...its took over everything...looks terriable...

Yeah, I was comfortable, sort of anyway in that shot. I had both feet at close to the same height and could lock the legs rather than rely on muscle only.

That's a sweet gum tree. Sweet gum drops seed pods that are spiked and about the size of walnuts. One that big drops a lot of seed pods and it makes a mess in the yard, makes it uncomfortable to walk around the tree, plays havoc with Bo walking around the yard and is a pain to clean up and clean up has to happen two or three times a year. There are two behind our house and both are going. This one, the bigger of the two, has to go first and if falls the wrong way when I cut it, it'll get VERY expensive very quickly because it'll wreck the house. So the object is to get a line up high enough to give lots of leverage and pull, using my Jeep, as I make the felling cut (my wife will drive the Jeep) to make sure it falls the right way without any question. We have done this before and the Jeep and her will be well out of any danger zone as the tree falls.

good idea getting those gum trees down...old mate had one 40yrs old..took 3 persons to wrap there arms around it...$7000 to chop it...but $3000 back for lumber....

hi tails have your house guests left yet...or should I say pests.....?

Hi Debra! This is their last night here. The ill behaved one pooped in the car on the way to the dog park today. I guess it's her parting gift to me. i'm thankful for daylight savings because that means one less hour with them!!!! :)

Tomorrow will be the day of deep cleaning. I guess I should just look at it as spring cleaning!

Thanks Debra. They are spoiled brats that don't really want to listen. The younger one has severe behavior problems. Perhaps when they are with their mommy, they might go back to normal. I'm sure it isn't easy for them to be uprooted like this, but I'd think after a couple of weeks they'd be in the routine here. Their mom should drive them to Cesar Milan's ranch and let them get rehabilitated!!!! ;)

I commend you on your rebuilding efforts! You go girl! I'm not ready for such things yet. Still trying to get the hang of making juice, but that is getting easier.

Hope it cools down for you soon!

First the house and then the car. If I lived near you, I would help you clean up after your "guests" are gone. That will be a monumental job to tackle by yourself.

Repeat after me... NO MORE DOGSITTING !!!!!!! ;)

Sitting down, facing forward.
Good morning everyone! I got to sleep a little later today, Mrs. Awsum walked Bo for his early morning constitiutional. Coffee is on, dark roast Columbian, Baileys Irish Cream, 1/2&1/2 or non-fat available. A little later eggs, bacon and bagels. It's a nice, sunny, calm day so after that, time to fire up the chain saw and take down that tree.

Thanks, needed the coffee this morning. Daylight savings time stinks. Hope I enjoy that extra hour of sunlight at the end of the day.

Hubby would love to be there to help. He loves chainsaws:) He's rebuilding/porting and whatever else he does on yet another one. I wonder what he'll do with his time when he has all of his chainsaws fixed up:)

Of course, free time isn't much of an issue in the early spring time rush to get enough done around here. 21 degrees outside. I'll be checking the greenhouse to see if the temp is doing better this morning.
