Sandy - the chair is well worth the money. And they last forever. (Knocking on wood right now not to hex it.) It was very comfortable for me and Whisper to lay in all day yesterday. I napped most of the day and when I went to bed, I almost got up and slept in my chair.

One thing I noticed is that my throat was really sore after surgery and I coughed up a lot of thick rubbery phlegm (sorry to be graphic). It was as if I smoked up to the minute of surgery. Yes, I did smoke for about 5 days after the burglary, but went right back to vaping once I went to work. I've never coughed up this much stuff in any of my previous surgeries and have never had such a sore throat! Of course the wind is blowing terribly here and it looks like a big plume of dust all over the city. That probably doesn't help my allergies at all.

I didn't take my vaping devices to the hospital. I thought about it once, but was fine without it. I did give my X2 to my friend that picked me up so I puffed on it on the way home. It was hard to get a decent drag without going into a coughing fit. I'm vaping a bit more today, but not near as much as I was before.

Today was spent pulling all the bandages off. The must have used a whole roll on my stomach! It will feel good to take a shower!

If I ever get a lot of money, I'll get the chair.

I wonder if your sore throat is from tubes they put down your throat. That was the case with me when I was in the hospital for an operation some years ago, though it didn't seem to be a problem with this last one on my arm. But I remember that other time, I could hardly talk and my throat hurt. It went away in a day or 2. I hope you feel better soon. Till then rest in your chair. If it's more comfortable than bed, why not sleep in it?

Tail; so glad to hear you're healing well. You are showing remarkable grace for someone having a medical emergency on top of a break-in. You and Whisper continue to take care of each other and the rest will sort itself out, "by and by" as the old folks used to say.

Tail - What she said:)

Well spoken, Catlady.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Good morning everyone! Coffee is on, the usual dark roast Columbian with Bailey's French Vanilla, half and half or low fat milk and bagels and cereals are available.

It's kind of cool again this morning, down to 38 just before dawn, but is supposed to get back up to the mid 70's again this afternoon and the sun is shining brightly.

I got the cement in around the sump basin yesterday and will be cleaning up the mess, dust from drilling and chipping, sand and cement, taking down the draping from around the area and vacuum the whole side of the basement where the work went on. Next up is setting up the drip pan for the water heater on a base of eight inch blocks to keep it up off the floor. That'll locate the position of the water heater so I can get the preliminary plumbing installed to, hopefully, let me get in moved in a day so we have hot water at night.

I got half the garden cleaned out of leaves, sweet gum balls and branches and should get the rest done today. Then it's on to weeding, the wild onions just never seem to stop growing and trying to spread, then rototill. I'm holding off planting until the middle of this month or later to make sure the plants don't get killed by frost. I pushed it last year and all the stuff that had been started in the basement dies in one frost incident.

Has anyone heard from Rave or Blues?

You and Lizzie -- so industrious! Impressive!

I wonder about Rave & Blues, too. It's a shame that when someone disappears from here, we just never know what happened to them. It's one of the downsides of this kind of communication. I wonder about Holly, too. She was always so cheerful and loved going to Disney World so much.

Thanks for the coffee Awsum.

Yeah, I do wonder what happened to MoonTiger as well.

Busy day. I think I have 90% of the needle and thread grass out of the yard. One last push today and then all I have to do is cruise the yard looking for stragglers. I saved one so I could get a photo of it.

I cut up seed potatoes yesterday and will probably plant them today if they look dry enough. I would like to get some more lettuce and rads planted. Maybe some more carrots. I have some projects to work on like getting some more hardy geraniums out of the east side where I am going to put down landscape cloth. I am going to rehome the geraniums. I need to rehome the 4 raspberries I dug up yesterday and check on the ones I already rehomed. I hope they are alive:)

I see that it is 31 degrees out there but according to the long term forecast, this will be the end of the super cold nights. I hope it is true. I like to get the garden in by May 15th whenever possible. Looks like a light wind which helps with the buffalo gnats a bit and I think I'll need DEET since I heard mosquitoes are out in force in some areas.

Since I don't have to clean tomorrow, I am trying to get lots done.

We've already had mosquitos in the house this year. All it seems to take is a few warm days and some bright sun for them to get going. Our daytime temps are supposed to stay above 60 for the next week, but the lows overnight seem to still be flirting with freezing. Out here away from the city it does get a lot cooler at night.

I saw a night time photo of the East Coast taken from the space station a few weeks ago. Boston, New York City, Long Island, north Jersey, Philadelphia, Wilmington and even Atlantic City were plainly visible because of all the lights, but in the southern section of NJ there was a large dark area. That's right about where we're at, sort of at the top edge of that area. It does make the night sky a lot nicer being able to see the stars.

Sandi - I'm sure it was from the tubes. All the phlegm is worrying me.

Lizzie - how do you get so many different vegetables to grow in the desert? You must have a great green thumb!

Awsum - wow, you are quite the handyman to have around! Liquid Amber (that's what the west coast calls them) balls are the worst things ever created.

Have a wonderful day volties. Keep sending me good thoughts. The boxing glove lady from Allstate will be here in a few hours!

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the coffee Awsum. ;)

It's a beautiful warm sunny day so I'm getting ready to take Spanky for a walk. I can't wait for his grooming appointment tomorrow. His coat is getting too long and needs to be trimmed. Right now his belly and leg hair picks up bits of twigs and grass clippings as we go, not to mention his long ears. It's amazing the amount of stuff I get off him before coming back into the house.

I do hope we hear something from our missing friends soon. We haven't heard from Raynes, Kico or 1st Officer in a while either..

Hopefully that phlegm will clear up in a couple of days. The tubes must have rubbed against your windpipe when you were flipped upside down during the surgery... all that movement irritated the lining of your esophagus. You should contact your doctor about it. Maybe there is something you can get for it.

Good luck with your appointment.

Good Morning everyone, thanks for the coffee. I too was thinking the other day about Bluesman and Rave. They haven't posted in a Looooong Time. I certainly hope things are improving, but without posts I feel that something must be wrong. If I ever disappear from the forum, Debra and Roland have my email address. That happened on another forum where I posted a lot about my custom PT Cruiser. When it was rear ended and totaled, I posted that event and haven't been back because I no longer have anything to post. I still get an occasional email from my friends on the PT Crew Forum but I don't check in much anymore.

I have a realtor coming today to give me a ballpark idea of how much our home could be listed for, but unless it is worth a lot more than what I feel is the current market, we will be staying put until I am 6 feet under. There is no way I am going to sell my current house for less than I have to put into a new one, and we haven't even decided on where we would move, so things are just in the very early exploratory phase. We really do need to downsize, but love our current home and location.

For Debra: Thanks for the Cinnamon, Toasted Almond Recipe. I don't know when I will have a chance to try it because I do not have Toasted Almond, Whipped Cream or Vanilla Custard flavorings, but it sounds yummy. It seems that every time someone posts a great recipe I never have the flavorings, but my stack of flavors seems huge.

Catch everyone later. Wabbit

Politically Correct Joke of the Day - NOT

For those who haven't heard: Washington State and Colorado passed both laws - Gay Marriage and Legalized Pot

The fact that gay marriage and pot were legalized on the same day makes perfect biblical sense because Leviticus 20:13 says:

"If a man lies with another man, they should be stoned."

We just hadn't interpreted it correctly before!

A simple tip I learned last night is when you have surgical tape goo stuck to you after you rip that stuff off - use some oil (baby or similar). I didn't have any baby oil, but did have some avon skin so soft. I put some on a clean wash cloth and rubbed it in a circular motion until you don't see it or feel it any longer. Take a shower and you're back to new!

Goo Gone! Enough Said! Sorry, I would not use Goo Gone on your tender skin. I mis-interpreted what you were removing the tape goo from.

It continues to amaze me that gay marriage, gun control and a whole host of other things seem to occupy the President, Congress and the news media when polls show the public is far more concerned with the economy, jobs, National Security, jobs, the economy and, did I mention the economy and jobs? It's also amazing, to me anyway, that almost 50% of the public has no idea the "Affordable Care Act" is the law of the land and can't name the Vice President. That makes me wonder about the validity of the first poll! I guess they're more interested in "The Voice" and who will win "The Celebrity Apprentice" or the "Amazing Race" and watching the next episode of that zombie show.

Uncle, I personally have nothing against alternative lifestyles, but the ruckus over these issues frustrates me to no end. Just let it go for gosh sakes, don't rub it in anyone's face, march naked in a parade, etc. Live and Let Live!

Wabbit

Fully appreciate what you are "saying" and really do not want to get into any heated discussion - particularly since I am not living an alternative lifestyle - but living "My" Life - however I will also say that the "issues" are not that easily dismissed as being un-important to those that they effect, especially when it comes to what is taken for granted by so many others as their "RIGHTS" - yet they continually deny the same "Rights" to others . . . (Talk about rubbing it someones face . . .)

So to truly - "Live and Let Live!" - then everyone should have and be on the same playing field to have a fair chance at this game We Call Life and Try To Live . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

More importantly - while I truly accept and acknowledge the need and choice for everyone to believe in a specific religion and or at least have faith in a higher power . . . As far as I am concerned and IMO - No One Religion or Religious Doctrine - should govern or be given any more credience in the implementation of Civil Rights and/or even Human Rights . . .

BTW: No Marching "Naked" (if that is all you think happens) in ANY Parade for "Me" - Not A Pretty Site, if Ya' Know What I Mean . . .;)
