Good morning. Apparently, the guy came to plow the driveway early, before we got up. He cleared in front of Bill's car, but it looks like he left a mound of snow so the cars in the parking area can't get out the other arm of the driveway. I guess once Bill moves his car, then everyone can come and go on that side.
I should explain. We have a circular drive, one side near the house, the other farther away, with a little plot of grass in the middle. At the far end of the circle is an area where everyone parks so as to leave the driveway clear. Last night, Bill parked by the house on the drive.
The plow came in this morning, cleared a spot in front of Bill's car, then cleared the other arm of the drive down to the parking area, and stopped. So all the cars parked where they should be are blocked in by the mound that the plow left.
Usually, the people upstairs leave for work earlier than Bill, but their cars are in the drive, and it sounds quiet up there. Maybe they're away?
So it'll be my car that will have problems getting out, and I wanted to do some shopping today. My friend was supposed to get together with me today -- probably go out for brunch -- but I wonder if that'll be canceled because of the snow piled up at her place. She's pretty intrepid, so she may come anyway. I haven't heard from her.
The temperatures are going to hover around 0 degrees today, according to the Internet weather. It was about 2 degrees last I looked. It's darn cold out there. I hope Penny is warm enough. She has her heaviest blanket on, but still … I hope the barn owner gives them extra hay.
The best way to keep a horse warm is to let them eat hay, because the slow digestion warms them.
My friend just called and canceled. Not because she thinks she can't get out but because her babysitter was trying to drive back from NYC last night and had to stop in a motel it was so bad. So the babysitter is somewhere en route now, not at my friend's house to watch her kids.
Later, when things have been cleared, I'll make an attempt for groceries. I wanted to go to Watkins Glen's Walmart, but that involves a steep hill. I guess they'll just load it with
salt -- it's a major road.
