I went to work yesterday morning in a short sleeve shirt. Worked half day and came home in 3 shirts and a hoodie. Went out this morning in all the above and a lined flannel coat looking like I weighed 10 more pounds. Strange thing is by the weekend we'll be back in the 80s like it never happened and wuzz nothing more than a bad dream.

That must have been very hard for you to have to wear a lined flannel coat. I'm surprised you even have one. :pervy:

That's "cold" huh? It's -12 here. Probably MUCH colder for 0mg and Q. I feel for ya, Uncle!!

The young folks here just cleaned 12" or more off of my Jeepers to take out the garbage. YAY! I don't have to clean it off!!! View attachment 292403 I wouldn't worry about it at all, but I know that FedEx and UPS won't have the courage to come into the woods under the current conditions, and I'm expecting packages. I'll have to drive out to retrieve them. The kids say that Jeepers can handle the driveway if I gun it.

One thing that worries me a bit: On Friday through Monday it will reach the low 40's with an abundance of rain on all four days. This will fall on my county road (which hasn't been plowed yet according to the kids) making it an ice rink - AND - the creek will flood big time! Interesting times ahead!

Rave, while it's in the 40s, go get groceries or anything else you need. You may not get out for a few days, if everything turns to ice. That happened here a few days ago, but anything that was plowed melted in the rain, so the roads are clear now, when it has turned cold again. We still have very frozen lumps of snow where plows left it at the edges of roads, but traveling today wasn't too bad.

This evening, while working, the woman I was working with and I were discussing new technology, and she mentioned something I had never heard of: a computer keyboard that is just light shining on your desktop, not an actual keyboard. I Googled it but didn't see anything about this. I don't know the name of the device, either. Has anyone heard of such a thing? Maybe she was misinformed?

Eh, I'm old fashioned, I miss my typewriter. :p

I don't miss using white out and correction tape one bit. The nice thing about the computer is you type your thesis or letter and then proof read. When you have to make a correction, you don't end up retyping the whole page!!!!!

It sounds like a great gimmick, but I read some reviews on Amazon, and there's a lot to be desired when comparing it to a regular keyboard. I had to laugh, though when one reviewer said in the pros on the product that it was the easiest keyboard to clean. Still, it seems to work best for hunt and peck typists, since how can you feel where the keys are? You'd have to look at the keys. I touch type, though I do cheat and look a lot more than I should. Still, I can't imagine using a keyboard where I couldn't feel the keys.

Even so, it's an interesting new development. I can see it'd be nice when you have a smart phone or something with a tiny keyboard, and that bugs you. The little cube definitely is more portable than a regular keyboard.

I'd love to go to a computer store and try one out. The idea is fascinating, even though I think I won't be buying one just yet.

I'm sleepy this evening. I guess it was all the extra physical activity doing the catering job. I'm not used to it now. I guess it's a good way to exercise, though, when it's so cold out that I don't even want to go take a walk.

Anyway, I'm saying good night early with a frozen waterfall at Watkins Glen.

In thinking over this subject further, I remember typing before White Out had been invented. If you messed up an eraser was the only option. That often chewed through the paper. And if you needed to cc: somebody, you had to erase the copy below the carbon paper too. Big errors meant the circular file for all copies. Bummer.

Good Morning Voltville!

Have I mentioned how much I really love using Volt's 808 version of the MVP? This thing rocks my 808 connection hardware. I've been able to use things that I'd stashed for emergency backup. Nice.

A neighborly elf (my lumber guy) showed up with his Bobcat like a knight in shining armor and plowed my driveway and turnaround in the dark last night. He even got my future daughter-in-law's work truck out of the snow bank that had it ensnared and put it back in it's parking space. I'm no longer snowbound. If I know him, he probably plowed the entire county road so that no one else local is snowbound either. Still won't go out with him though. ;)

OK, so what's the scoop? Why not go out with him? He sounds like a really nice guy, ready to help out whoever is in need. I'm sure you have a reason. He can't be perfect. So, do tell!

I'm already in a relationship with a really good guy who treats me like a goddess, and have been since the end of March. So ...

Can't you casually mention this guy you're in a relationship with to the lumber guy? Then he'll get the message that you aren't available. Would that do it? Sometimes it does, but some guys are very persistent and won't take no for an answer. It's worth a try, anyway. Or have you done that?

I've done that. Repeatedly. He just ... keeps tryin'. Gotta give the guy props for effort.

Good morning, Peeps. It is a chilly 22 degrees outside but the wood fire stove is keeping me toasty inside. Have some Sumatran coffee and banana bread.

I think I will get some work done inside the house this morning. This afternoon I will dedicate to yard clean up and playing with my little horseys:)

Hope you are thawing out back East.
