Oh wow - you got a lot more snow than I did, but it's colder here. I completely understand feeding the wildlife. I was given a bale of hay for the deer to put on top of the snow. The trick will be ... how to get it in place. I could use the sled I suppose, but it's dangerously cold out there with the wind chill involved. It was bad enough just schlepping in more firewood.

Is the storm over in your area now?

I wonder how many others here are caught up in this storm. For the last day, my power was going off and on and internet was iffy at best. Hope everything works out for you and everyone else. Stay safe everyone!!

It is still snowing here, not as heavy now though. Our forecast shows it could snow for the next 4 days, 20-30% chance. That's hopefully all for now, we don't have anywhere to put it! The lake effect is coming all the way across Michigan, but it usually comes in 'streamers', maybe it will miss us. Looking at the weather map, it looks like the lake effect will hit your neighborhood too, Rave.

Do you have a generator? Losing power in these temps, it's just dangerous.

I think you did a great job from memory although I don't understand why you put restrictions on yourself like no erasing. Maybe just to see what you can do. And as far as using a quarter being cheating, I have to disagree. I've been watching a lot of vids by professional artists and they use grid lines sometimes. I don't consider that cheating. I've used something to draw a circle also and don't consider that cheating. I've even seen a compass, one of those old fashion drawing pencils with the long pointed metal thingy, in their supply box. I'll use what ever aids I can since I'm an amateur especially if the pros use them. Nice job on the drawing. I really like the clouds around the moon. :)

Yup. I use a compass for full moons. It's just another tool, just as a brush is.

Nice pics and vid Rave. Thanks for showing those. Are you still snow bound or can you get out now?

BTW, has your deck railing passed inspection?

Thanks! Think I need an Air Traffic Controller? Believe it or not, they're worse today!

I'm snow bound, but also legally bound. We are under a Winter Emergency - which means no road travel other than emergency vehicles. My son worked like mad to try to get the hydraulics on his plow to work during the snowfall yesterday. He couldn't get the blade to drop. Finally, he rigged it with a wench so that he could raise and lower the plow blade. He got in one pass in both directions on our 700' driveway before his tranny blew on the turnaround. He was ... not happy. After that, another 8" or so of snow fell and the trees dumped most of their load. I'm probably stuck for awhile. But I don't mind. Not one little bit.

Reads like heaven. I'll need to take a look at the airline schedules and see how long it will take to get there. With cancelled flights, could be a problem, but you will be ready at any moment, right? ;)

For "Voltville" Friends - especially in an "Emergency" - which this seems it is getting to be . . .

Yea, Sure Why NOT - Come on down . . . :headbang:

AND - More importantly, when Ya' get here I can always help Ya' find an inexpensive Hotel/Motel right on the beach near "My" place if need be . . .

That is if Ya' can get here before I have to go North next week . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

Now if "Rave" shows up she will have a "Set of Keys" available . . . ;)

(BTW: Just Jokin' with Ya' -   - I'll find Ya' a place to keep warm & sleep for a few days. :D )

CRS is can't remember syndrome-- very popular ailment in the old folks' threads. :2cool:

Uncle, I just remembered-- I am expecting an order from slowtech, and another source for my writing project from Amazon, so I may just have wait a while. What perks would I get if I were to claim refugee status?

Now--- back to work. I may have to use the toilet paper caulk again, seems a bit drafty, and I want to give that heater a break-- I think it has been running 12 hours without a break. I'm cooking a meal, that should help.

So here is my vase. I apologize for very poor camera quality. The actual drawing looks alot better than this picture. I drew this out of my mind. this is the first thing I used my new pencils for. Just a quick doodle.

So the mail ran today, surprisingly. I got my pencils and am playing with them now. It's really fun. I'll see if I can take a picture of my vase I sketched. Its not that bad I think, but we'll see if i can 1 up myself later on down the road.

Thanks Rave, I really need to use Photoshop to sharpen that up and make it lighter. Also it might help to go somewhere brighter to take photos.

These little kits are awesome. Its got 8 graphite pencils H, 2H, 4H, HB, B, 2B, 4B, 6B, a woodless 8B graphite pencil. 3 charcoal sticks hard medium and soft. 3 graphite sticks 2B 4B and 6B. 3 charcoal pencils hard med and soft. 1 sharpener, 1 eraser, and a kneaded eraser. I wanna play some more but now I gotta work a little.

Hmmm - If such is the case, then I haven't yet earned the right to use the phrase. ;)

Photographing artwork is rough! Where did you get the kit?

That's what I was thinking, 0mg. Florida weather reports, while bad for Floridians, sound like springtime to me.

Yesterday, it went up to the high 30s, and that felt wonderful. So balmy! Then, after a big thaw all day, it rained all last night, and now the temperature is dropping again. It was in the high 20s when I looked last (a temperature sign on a bank on my way home from Ithaca). But the radio weather report said it's going down to zero tonight with a wind chill of -30 or so. I'm inside for the night, but poor Bill is still out there at work.

And we're having it easy compared to the midwest.

Wouldn't you know it -- just when it gets really cold, I have to work tomorrow for catering, and since parking is generally so difficult, I was thinking of taking the bus, but that may mean having to stand outdoors to wait for it. With such frigid temperatures, maybe I should drive and at least be walking a few blocks to a different bus that comes more often, and take that to the site.

I'm thinking of giving up the catering. I've toyed with the idea before, but I just keep doing it. I'm afraid if I quit, then I'll regret it. So I procrastinate. I think the difficult parking is the one thing that makes me really dislike the work. Also, it's physically very hard, and it's demanding, yet the pay is just a tad above minimum wage. There are perks like free food and the people I meet and places I go to are interesting, but sometimes, I really wonder if it's worth it, especially when it's so cold and I have to decide a strategy just to get to work, before I even do anything.
