Well, just so you know, calcium (your eggshells) does not dispense into the compost as you may think. It doesn't break down into a useable mineral for your plants, in other words. So you are best buying a good kelp/seaweed powder for that, and mix according to directions. Not only will it help set fruit, but it will give your plants the needed calcium.
Also, moisture needs to be very evenly dispensed while the plants are forming fruits, all the way til they are ready to pick. If this is a back woods plot, perhaps you could find a way to set up a sprinkler system on a timer if watering times become an issue. This also helps with the blossom end rot.
