Hope you guys are having a better than I am. I heard a commotion at the barn, ran out the door thought it had closed behind me,got half way there and heard a cat scream, turned around and Randy's dog had Pompeii. I grabbed Pompeii up called my vet and Dr Hernandez said to just watch Pom and not try to bring him in just yet that I may cause further shock as I have to drive 45mi to get there and then he may not could save Pom anyway if he has internal injuries and I'd be stuck with a huge vet bill.
I know it was an accident but all I could think of when I heard the commotion was one of the horse's had caught a hoof in between a panel or something, and didn't take that half second to check the door.
His eyes look Ok and he's moving around some,I've got him in my large walk in closet that has a window in it so he has a quiet place with food, water and his littler box but he's not eating or drinking,I wrapped him in a towel but he won's stay under it and so far his paws are warm. Dr. Hernandez says thats a good sign and just let him be for awhile. Then tonight I can give him a pain med.
I think Pomp needs IV fluids now, I'd rather him be put to sleep than hurt and I told my vet that but he says he wouldn't do anything different than what I am doing right now. Well he hasn't seen Pom how can he make that judgement, I told him I would even pay for a farm call if he'd come out here and look at him.
He told me to call him before they closed tonight, gave me his home phone number in case something changes. So what is he going to do tonight if I have to call ? What's the difference than taking Pom in now or tonight? He said trust him. Trust?!!!!
I wish Dr Click hadn't retired. He might tell me the same thing but Dr Click could always make my heart hurt less. I'm so stupid,I shouldn't even be allowed to have animals,I'm too careless
Sorry to hear Pom has a problem Raynes. Don't blame yourself, though I suspect you will anyway. You did what your instincts demanded and so did Randy's dog. Just an unfortunate accident and cats are pretty tough. Let her rest and she'll probably be OK. What was the commotion in the barn?
