When I call her she gets in my lap. With coat in lap, I flip her over put her arm in strap it up. She is ready to go. She does not mind the clothes. But she will try to chew up thing like floor mat, sofa, pillow, ect... I just keep on top of her to make sure she know what she is doing wrong.

Spanky loves his Christmas toys his favorites are large balls that he likes to push around with his nose and large fluffy stuffed animals (the made for dog stuffed toys). For some reason, he hates toys made of hard rubber.

As for coats and sweaters, he will just sit down and WILL NOT MOVE... AT ALL!! Even if I grab the leash and walk to the door. He will not move. Only with much babytalk and bribery then he will come. His body coat is very thick and long so the coats are only for extremely cold weather.

I'm in the process of getting him use to boots also. It's funny to watch him get adjusted to those. Boots are necessary for him to protect his feet from the chemicals used on sidewalks after it snows.

The things we do for those little heart stealers.

Bassets are the best manipulators ever. Those eyes, you can feel them all the way across the room. Her Basset is always getting into something so he gets crated a LOT. I go over there and get him out. I just can't stand it

Not only Bassets, Cavaliers know how to work the eyes too. Just look at my avi... I've hardened my heart to that look though. Spanky was 6 pounds overweight and this breed is prone to heart problems so we had to go on a strict diet and exercise regiment. I had to really read the riot act to my husband because he really was a victim of Spanky's "eyes" when it came to treats. So I had two of them to watch. Everyday we walk vigorously and he is now down to his ideal weight... me too now. So it has been beneficial to both of us. I had to toughen up because I want him with me as long as possible.

GREAT JOB Lizzie !!! Before you know it you two are going to be quite the team. Always remember ears up before feeding and to stand there a few mins so he won't think he ran you off. You two accomplished a lot today!!!

I just figured that one out recently. He's been having his ears sort of back. Not pinned back but not forwards. I was throwing his hay anyway. Then I got to thinking "Hey, you don't need to reward a sour puss. Wait until he flicks his ears forwards before throwing the hay." Of course the first time it took several minutes of patiently waiting and I only got a brief flick forward but real quick he figured out he wasn't getting fed without moving those ears forwards. It's getting to be a good habit for him now:)

GOOOOOOD MORNING VOLTVILLE, Sorry to be late this AM, my wife just woke me up at 8:00 AM, thought I had gone to the great vapor cloud in the sky. Not Yet, Who's got the coffee on? I got your morning joke gang, actually the wife found it in her e-mail and forwarded it to my computer. This is for the "lets say" 60ish crowd.
