I usually have to change batteries twice a year. There is a light on top of the mouse that is normally green. When the battery begins to run low, it will turn red but it doesn't stop right away. I haven't been caught with a dead mouse yet. I have a newer smaller wireless mouse for my laptop and the battery lifespan is 18 months. So far, so good. Also forgot to mention... I'm a lefty and I have a left-handed wireless mouse on my desktop. The shape matches my hand in the way that it is shaped... but since I'm used to a right-handed world, I switched the right and left click buttons to stay the same as the regular mouse since that is what I've always known.

Good to know about the wireless mouse. As you can tell I dont have one yet!!!! I'm thinking of getting one later this year.

Best thing is to get a 32 gig thumb drive. Then you will not need to make copies on 10 disks. Then later add a new back up. When it gets full you then can delete the old backup.

Same here on the back up.

The DVD's have already been made as recovery disks. I also have Seagate Expansion Desktop 3TB External Hard Drive. I got the external hard drive after making the DVD's. If I can stay off the laptop long enough, I really could backup my laptop to this external HD. I do have a couple of 16gig thumb drives for portability. Love them for ease of use.

This is re. the wireless mouse. Why should I be wary of recharging it when the battery dies? How does a person do it safely?

You just put in a new AA battery! That's what they take. The older ones had to be put in a charging cradle but they are things of the past. If you forgot to put them in the charger... they would be dead by morning.

You can use the external hard drive or the 16 gig thumb drive as a back up. So you are ready to go!! NICE

Opal there is another permission you can do, but I can't think of it to unlock everything. Try googling it!!!
That is what I did. If I was smart I would have that info on my back up and regular hard drive for the next time!!

I got my mom win 7 when it first came out. After a month she told me she wanted a Mac. She's been happy on her Mac air. Now I'm the one suffering with win 7. I'm a Mac and Linux girl all the way.

Yay! Another Mac fan. I thought I was all alone. I'm pretty much a dunce when it comes to computer stuff, but I rarely get confused by my Mac. All this stuff I hear all the time (like right now) about Windows and Vista makes me shudder and be glad I have a Mac. It's like why I stick with the original SI batteries: no clearos that crack, no T3s that leak, no plugging holes or fooling with O rings. My original SI batteries are like my Macs. Things designed by geniuses to be operated by idiots.

Oh. I have a Mac. No Windows. Do they have wireless mice for Macs? They must. I guess I'll ask my brother who's my computer guru.

Yes they do have them for Macs. Some work for both but it's best to check the specifications just to be sure. Some only work for PCs.

It looks sleek. Why the curves? Is that more comfortable for your hands? Is it hard to get used to if you've typed for years on a straight keyboard? Both my computers have the plain, straight keyboards. They seem OK to me, but I guess I don't type all day long as some people might.

That is a nice keyboard. It is more comfortable to use (no carple tunnel syndrome) and your wrists will thank you for it!!!

I work in tech and very rarely use a computer at home except if work calls. Most of the time I'm on my phone or a tablet for email reading and web surfing. When I'm home I want whatever I'm using to just work. I'd rather be out metal detecting on the beach than replacing a hard drive. Same thing with vaping, I just wanna vape. I'm still working on the just vape part because I keep trying delivery systems and other gear. Someday I will find vaping bliss. :)

Sitting down, facing forward.
I build my own desktops, if you call installing boards and drives building, but when it comes to a laptop I'll stick to pre-assembled. I just want it all to work. I changed the video card in my desktop about a month ago to a wiz-band GPU model and in the process had to disconnect a hard drive for clearance on the slot. Now I need that drive back and can disconnect a different one that has junk on it I don't need at all. The only problem is getting motivated enough to crawl around and do it. It's still sitting the with the side cover off so I really don't have an excuse other than laziness.

I'm going to do my exercises and go to bed soon. I have an early horse club meeting tomorrow, though maybe I'll check in here before I go. Meanwhile, here's another summery photo for those who are getting tired of snow scenes. This was taken at Longwood Gardens in PA. I went there many times as a kid, and it was one of those magical places that impressed me deeply. There are extensive water lily ponds there, and they dye the water black, which brings out the colors in the flowers, as well as preventing algae from growing.

Saved! Thank You Very Muchly!

YAHOO BLUES IS HOME !!!!
Update on my schizophrenic patient --she got to go home this morning WITH HER FAMILY. She'll be back to taking care of the homeless again soon. Many thanks for all your prayers and healing vibes for her !!!
Yeaaaaaa!!! Good to see you! Loved the story on the chainsaw!

Welcome, Opal. Why don't all you Windows people just get a Mac. I'm no genius, and my Mac works really well for me.
Good idea! I was going to several years ago. Then realized I'd have to replace the NEW printer and ... and ...
Then forgot about it 4 years ago when upgrading to the current. I've heard you should only consider EVERY OTHER MS operating system - which means Win7 would be the good one (like XP).

If you like Werther's butterscotch candy, you will be very pleased. It's great! I'm getting ready to try the strawberry fuzz now. ;)
Umm - butterscotch? Where? Who? Butterscotch Pudding is good too! (Vape not food!) :D

For the horse fans - I posted a couple more pictures in the horse album of the newest 'kids' - taken with my NOT SO Smart phone (lobatomy last summer). Not the greatest and the 'kids' need cleaning ...

Oh - my custom SAGEWOOD Glass tip is in the the "Toys" album.
Have a great evening ... after reading the posts on the 'puter stuff ... sheesh - I have a headache! Like electronic toys but the changes in the computers is getting to be more than I WANT to learn!

Now if we only had a phone wiz on this forum. Hubby's phone has gone insane. It claims his data usage has quadrupled. AT&T took off the extra charges and told him to not use cellular data. They are claiming that the phone goes from wi fi to cellular data and that is costing us gigabytes. I got to thinking that is kind of stupid since he has a phone with cellular data and he didn't ever go way over his limit until last month. Plus, he isn't even trying to use wi fi.

He turned off the cellular data and he is putting the hone in airplane mode when he is at work. Even though that seems like a ridiculous solution. Then he turned on his phone last night to play soduko and look at Ebay [same as he has done for months] and suddenly today I get a bunch of emails from AT&T telling me that his phone is way, way over again.

I haven't found anything clear cut about this topic on the internet.

That sounds like the stuff nervous breakdowns are made of -- at least in this household. If it was me, I'd probably just get a new phone. Like someone said here earlier, I have a very simple, retro cell phone. People have said I should get a new one, but this has worked fine for years, so why?

I looked at the photos of the horses. They are all pretty, but that palomino and her chestnut foal really wowed me, too. There's a cute bay a man is holding, too. Is that the horse in your avatar?

Are you sure you disabled the main admin account?? How?? That could be the cause of your problems. That is the primary functioning Windows account. All windows updates come through the primary user account. If you can undo it, I would. All other accounts are secondary even if they are set for "admin privileges".

Ok here I go again!!! First check that when he is check his E-mail that he is on wifi. There is no data usage charge. Also had a problem about the same thing. The trouble is/was that my phone was stuck on a website and did not disconnect. Did not show on the phone. Used the phone regularly. Using the phone checking E-mail and websites. One day the phone company called me about the over usage. Told them I could not have. Well one day I was back on line with the phone and all of a sudden this website came up!!!! I did not go there, Its been a long time since I went to that sight?????? I disconnected from that site. That is where my data was going too.

So here's a horse photo from me. This was taken at a show my horse club puts on. This Trakehner (that's the breed of the horse) mare is owned by one of the club members, and she's a pretty advanced dressage horse. She's used to going around to shows and staying in strange stalls for the weekend, so you can see here she's pretty relaxed, just standing around waiting to go onstage again.
