Thank you SandySu for the positive vibes! It would be nicer for him to be able to work days rather than the graveyard shift. It's actually only 50 cents more than he makes now. He gets a dollar more an hour working third, so he would lose that dollar by going to days and get $1.50 raise.

As for my knees, they predict the weather like my mom would say about her joints. I noticed that some of my other joints were aching, too. I took a Vicodin but that was quite a while ago. I would agree that it was the barometric pressure, as I am alright now.

Lattice is up on the woodshed. I also got most of the trim painted but I only did the outside surfaces on the woodshed and none of the inner edges. Hey, who can see anything but the outside from the road? I'll probably do the roof trim in the dark teal green later on when I have the time. That way it will match up to the rest of the sheds.

The center island was a good ten feet wider and about 15 feet longer than it is now. Since we were bringing in gravel I shortened it up and made it narrower. Also, it was crescent shaped and you couldn't hardly use it to circle around and get back out of the yard through the main gate. Now you can easily make that circle

OK, so I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna break all my rules, go against my common sense and better judgment and...order a WHITE BATTERY!

And nope, no more CE3s for me. Had a perfectly filled one on my X2 today as a backup, grabbed for it while I was driving (mini-T3 on the Spinner was out of juice), and all I got were three blinking lights (and no vape)! Tried switching batteries, no dice. Tried it on all my other batteries at home, same three blinking lights. Dang, Creme Brulee too! And after only two fills! I think the coil must've shorted out or something.

I didn't mind the white batteries, it was the stainless and rainbow ones. Fingerprints all over them! Can't stand that! LOL!

The T3's are nice for the X2's and spinner. I had the old CE3's and they worked fine for me, most the time. I finally just threw a bunch out, as they had been sitting a while with juice inside them. Still sucks when they stop working or worse, leak!

Good night this evening with a chicory flower, aka a cornflower. They are weeds, but I've always liked them. They are growing at roadsides now.

Beautiful Sandy. A weed is merely a flower out of place. That is a human distinction only.

Good Morning Mary Sunshine...I mean Tina. I can't take that much happiness before I drink my coffee. Have a cup even though you obviously are already perky.

I suppose I'll clean the animal water tanks today. They need a good scrubbing. I have just a bit of painting to do. I probably need to pick pea pods, snap peas and garden peas. The garden peas aren't given much this year but the two times I have picked were delicious.

I need to get ahold of the neighbor to see if she still has that giant box of roofing nails. We really have to get shingles on the wood shed roof and the horse shed roof and the long shed roof. We tarred them to get them through the winter but they really do need to get shingled. I still have to go to town and buy the shingles.

There is the elm tree to remove and possibly plant else where. I bought an agastache which is also called hummningbird mint. I need to get that into the ground. Pretty flowers, perennial and should seed off and come up elsewhere. I need to remove a couple of the large Saskatoon grasses from the pond area and put them somewhere else. I have a couple of spots in mind.

Since I won't get all of that done today, I guess I will have to prioritize

The big decision is whether to go with a mullen or solid piece or another hinged in the middle bit. I have seen a couple of them that are covered in rubber but they are more pricey. The mullen is considered, according to what I am reading, to be a very mild bit. Horses are always driven in a snaffle but the snaffle bit can be a mullen or hinged if I got that right. I probably stick with a half cheek that has the bars that point downward. Bars are not for leverage in the snaffle but are for keeping the bit from slipping through his mouth.

Being the lazy person I am, when I measured Penny's mouth for a bit, instead of string, I just used a tape measure in her mouth and held one end at one corner and just noted the inches mark that was at the other corner. I added 1/2" to get the bit size, but since Wiseguy is so much smaller, maybe you should add the 1/4". Penny has a delicate head, so I always got reasonably thin bits for her and just was careful about using my hands gently. Penny never liked any bit, though she had some preferences. Her favorites were one that was sort of a D-ring and a KK that had a rounded middle joint. But finally I realized that she went best with a hackamore arrangement -- a bridle with no bit. She is perfectly happy and controllable with the jumping hackamore I use.

What kind of bit you get is probably limited because of the small size of your horse. I imagine there's a much wider selection of bits in regular horse sizes. As for what kind of mouthpiece, I think you just have to try them and see what Wiseguy likes. Don't get the cheapest bit you can find. Something expensive like the Herm Sprenger bits is better made and much more comfortable for the horse. Be sure it's solid stainless steel, not plated, since the plating chips and becomes rough.

How you adjust the cheekpieces of the bridle may add to comfort or discomfort, too. The bit has to rest in the bars of the horse's mouth where there are no teeth. Too high or low, it'll bang against his teeth and cause discomfort. Be sure you've got that adjustment right.

You're right -- a snaffle bit doesn't have shanks. It can be a mullen mouth or a jointed one. Some people think a jointed bit makes it a snaffle, but they're wrong. For instance, there's a kind of bit called a Tom Thumb that has shanks and a joint in the bit. It is NOT a snaffle. Lots of people think it is because of the joint, but the shanks are what makes it a snaffle or not. And a Tom Thumb is a rather harsh bit because of the shanks and joint working together. What makes a bit a snaffle is that it uses pressure against the corners of a horse's mouth, whereas a curb uses leverage from the shanks.

I'm not sure about the wolf teeth. The vet is supposed to come out and sedate him in the fall to check his teeth again and then maybe do some work on them.

Wiseguy is doing much better about taking the bit than when I first got him. I put it in and took it out right away so that he wouldn't always think I was going to put him to work. I can get a 3 3/4" bit which would be just a little bit larger than the one he has now. I will difinitely look for solid stainless steel. I found one that is also 12 mm instead of the 13 1/2 mm that I have now. I'm going to have to look at that one again now that Hubby has measured the one we have already.

I just read up a little on driving bits for minis, and people seem to like Myler bits. Yes, they are expensive, but it might be worth it. See Miniature Horse Mylar Bits Also, a point was mentioned that you shouldn't get a copper mouthpiece if your horse chews the bit a lot. The metal is soft enough that the horse will chew it into rough spots and ruin the bit. That also can happen with rubber-coated bits, and some horses don't like the taste. I'd avoid them on principle, though if Wiseguy has a quiet mouth and likes it, then he gets to make the ultimate decision.

I'm signing off now, too, for a while. I have to get a haircut. This is something fairly new to me, since I never had my long hair cut. Now I let it get pretty shaggy and then suddenly realize it needs cutting, then have to wait a week till my appointment. I guess at some point I'll learn when to anticipate a haircut.
