LOL! Love it! :)

Morning, everyone!

Not sure if I'll be posting much, but I'll be lurking. Been feeling down and not sure if/when I'll break.

Take care and have a great weekend!

Awww - I'm sorry Tina. Sure hope that you cheer up soon. encourage.gif

That looks like an iris to me.

Yeppers! My favorite flower.

hi volties.....im vaping a yummy forest berry mix with white chocolate and creams...I made today....I think its time I slow down on all my mixers..im turning into a lab monkey...

I used to go through loooong mixing binges and then stop for while. And then back again. Change is good.

sweet lizzie whatever works...im a hopeless sweet tooth..

Oh heavens - ME TOO!

We went to visit the Grand kids yesterday, so much fun. The twins are 3 months old already, growing like weeds, and one of them has learned to roll over. He is surprised every time, can't figure out what happened, lol. It's still somewhat of a crazy house over there, but I can see they are getting used to things and starting to relax more.

My 2-almost-3 yr old grandson thinks I'm wonderful because I spied a tiny toad in the grass and caught it for him to see up close. It was nice because the toad cooperated and sat still on his palm for a good minute. Happily, he did not get squished! We then let him go and watched him hop off on his merry way. That and band-aids, which I always keep in my purse. Nothing beats a dinosaur or snoopy band-aid, right?

I loved it when they surprised themselves like that as little ones. I love it even more when they continue to surprise themselves with accomplishments even now. :)

The toad story was great too. You always make me smile, Q. Thanks!

Tail - just curious - Do you keep walking into your new office just to look at it? That's what I've always done for a few days after I finished a major project.

I probably won't be around again this weekend. The weather looks fine, and I intend to take advantage of that with a combined camping and fishing trip. I'll see if I can make that happen.

That is the way it has been with my trunk. Now it is at the carpenter's shop waiting for cedar lining and a new tray.

I have walked in a few times just to look. I'm very proud of this job. I had a smaller project in the garage working in concert with the office. I put in a new work bench and some gladiator walls. I find myself wandering out there a bit just to look as well :)

Tail, you are lucky they didn't go off! Ours go off when hubby is cooking, even without steam. Just has to open up the oven door and it'll go off. Now it doesn't do it anymore, but the oldest dog, Sassy will still bark when he does those things! Just as if the alarm did go off! *sigh* Have a great day/weekend yourself!

I suspected my smoke detectors finally died and after realizing they are 15 years old, I knew I had to change them out. The smudging showed me that they aren't working.

I would periodically set the smoke alarms off (mine are wired in series, so if one goes off, they all go off) when I was cooking in the kitchen. My oldest Min Pin would run out of the house if she saw me pick up a frying pan. I can only imagine how dogs feel when they hear that piercing sound. :)

I'm away for a while. I have to go down to Ithaca to buy a bag of horse feed for Penny, and I may do a small grocery shopping while I'm down there. I guess that means I'll go to the barn tomorrow, since I don't want the feed to sit in my car trunk too long in the heat. It's heavy, or I'd bring it into the house and then take it out again when I go to the barn.

I ordered that air conditioner this morning. Send vibes that it's as good as the reviews say. We were very lucky with the last one we bought, which is still going strong something like 20 years later. I have that one in my home office, but the new one will be for the bedroom.

I sure wish I could get a Roomba. Vacuuming in the heat is the pits, so I've let it go longer than I should. I wonder if it'd go on our bedroom rug, which is blue with a pattern, sort of a fake oriental. It's not a dark blue, sort of a dusty teal with less green than teal. What do you think, Rave? Would the pattern tell the Roomba it's not a black hole?

Tail, you certainly deserve to admire your handiwork after all the effort you put into it. Admiring the finished product is part of the joy of creating.

I agree that smoke alarms must be torture for dogs. Their hearing is more sensitive than ours, and it's torture for people to hear. I guess they need to make such an annoying sound to wake deep sleepers.

OK, now I'm really outta here!

Little time for internet today, but had to come and check my e mail and peruse a bit here.

Garden got another good drink last night, and it is so refreshing. I'll have to post some pictures when I have a bit more time.

Sorry to chime in and go out quickly, but my schedule is tight again! Am very thankful that I'm busy, but would really like to catch up on my puter stuff. busybee.gif

Well, the Culligan man just came and went. We now have fresh filters in our drinking and ice maker. I was his first stop of the day. That is usually a rarity and refreshing change for me, I'm normally waiting on some repairman all day long and they always show up at the end of the day!

I looked in the box to the smoke detectors and the one expensive one - combo fire/carbon monoxide detector was missing the plug cord! Now I have to run back to Home Depot to get another. I'm going to open the exchanged one up to ensure I've got everything I need. I don't normally open boxes in stores, but this irks me that there is a good possibility that someone stole this connection. I always see boxes of screws that have been opened, even though there is a display screw right there. I've had to buy a box of screws when I've only needed a few, but I still buy the box. I would never consider to open a box and put what I needed in my pocket!

Well, I'm going to try to make it a good day any ways. My gladiator boxes came in at 8AM and my Roomba is due to arrive later today. Can't wait to get it charged up and let her roll. I'm thinking of naming her Rosie or Hazel. I'm leaning towards Rosie, but I have to look at her first. :)

SandySu, say hello to my middle niece when you are in Ithaca. She's the one who moved away from New England. :(

Enjoy your camping/fishing trip, Raven. Guess I will have to wait until the cold weather to be able to talk to you.

Back to work, for me.

I live just north of Ithaca, so I go there a lot. Where in Ithaca does your niece live? Did she move there because of Cornell? Or maybe she just liked the area, which was my reason.

Hi Catlady !!!!! :) Nice to meetcha, I don't think that we have talked before.

We have not, but your circle of voltville friends speaks well for you!:D
I am absolutely not immensely interesting, nor exciting; merely loyal, and fairly well read, with a lot of appreciation for wit. I have lots of opinions, making me somewhat difficult, but not a whole lot to say, making me tolerable?
I keep up with the conversation, and have enjoyed your input, and certainly your effect on our friends. Glad you've joined us.

I am now wondering if our kitchen smoke detector doesn't work or if hubby just took the battery out?!? I wouldn't put it past him.

Tail, ours are all battery operated, but in the mobile home I lived in, they were both electric and battery operated. The batteries must have been for backup. I had never known they were even like that! Always assumed they were all battery operated.

Hope everyone is having a good day! Trying to wake up hubby and not doing a good job. For an hour I had to put up with three alarms going off! He didn't hear any of them! Someone recommend an alarm clock that it's buzzer goes off at 132 dB. I want to get it, but I'm scared everyone else will go deaf and he still won't wake up!

My house was built in 1998. It came with wired smoke detectors with a 9V battery back up. I was so tired of my living room/kitchen detector going off with barely even steam, I unhooked it and took out the battery. Your husband probably did the same. Hopefully these new ones will detect better. I have installed the CO/smoke detector in the kitchen area because of the gas. I believe all smoke detectors have a 10 year life. The newer battery ones come with a lithium battery that you just swap out the entire unit every 10 years or when it starts to chirp. I'll have to make a mental note to swap them out again in 10 years.

Hope everyone has a great start to their weekend!

With that said, I just finished with my install. I have "Rosie" roomba charging in her dock and can't wait to try it out tomorrow! I'm going to mix up a lemon drop martini and see if my gall bladder will allow it. :)

I don't know her exact address, SandySu. She moved there for work, she's in the social work field and there was nothing for her around here. She's also very independent so I think that she wanted to be her own.

How about one that will shake his bed? They say that works very well. I know that when my son wanted to wake me up, all he had to do was kick the bed, and I was sitting up, alert and ready to deal with whatever crisis was happening.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Tail, if I remember correctly, CO detectors should be installed at locations other than on the ceiling, which is the opposite of a fire detector. I think CO is heavier and tends to accumulate from the floor up, rather than the ceiling down like smoke.

Smoke detectors come in two varieties, a true smoke detector that works by reflection or obscuration, and ionization detectors that detect ionized particles from combustion. The smoke detector is prone to problems from cob webs, dust and insects while an ionization detector can be triggered by an air current, like the steam/hot air escaping from a bathroom after a shower. Ionization detectors usually work using a low level radio active isotope, harmless level, but need proper disposal.

Hubby says he didn't take the battery out. I just remembered that he hasn't cooked in the oven for a long time, so that is probably why it hasn't went off. We haven't had bacon in a while either.

I wish! LOL!

That wouldn't work, either. It would just annoy me. LOL!

I have to make up some wild stories to wake him up. He wouldn't wake up when I told him the house was on fire or that I was having a heart attack. He did wake up when I told him his dog Milo got out and ran away. Go figure! LOL!

Maybe you need to replace the battery in your smoke alarm. Batteries do get old and then don't work after a while.

If your husband sleeps so soundly, is he getting enough sleep? Does he sleep 8 hours out of every 24? I know he has a weird work schedule, which doesn't help. Telling him wild stories is going to wear off, like the boy who cried "Wolf." If there is a real emergency, you want to be able to wake him.

Hubby could sleep 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I am not sure what time he goes to bed, since he plays his video game so much. I know I shouldn't be making up stories, but I have no idea how to wake him up, otherwise. He gets upset if I don't get him up on time and if I try to shake him awake, his dog will go after me. Really, if I let him sleep, he would never make it in to work. Unfortunately, we need his income, or I would just let him be late or miss work. Also, I don't want him complaining about me not doing my job, which is to wake him up. Sorry, didn't mean to dump here.
