Hope you are thawing out back East.
It is -12 right now. Looks like today is going to be a duplication of yesterday. Tomorrow is going to be much warmer, but I have substitute teaching scheduled.

Rave, has he ever met your BF? Maybe he believes that the BF is a fiction. Your BF could be chopping wood, something slightly threatening, you know?

Wow - you're still pretty chilly up there. We're starting to warm up here.

Yep - They have met and talked while the trees were being cut here. That was uncomfortable. He did drive by and saw us cutting up previously fallen timber this last weekend. But he knows my trees and knows that it's basically a dead elm grove where we were working.

I have gotten in touch with Chicamum tack to see about a new harness. I am worried that we didn't measure correctly and I let her know that. I also asked her to let me know about her "regular" harness that is about $325 vs. the comfyfit which is twice as much. The comfyfit is a lovely harness but that would be a pretty big expense.

A new bridle, all by itself is over $100 so it is probably worth it to me to consider getting the whole harness for the extra $200 considering I don't like the harness I have and I still would have to by breeching on top of the new bridle.

It sounds like you are talking yourself into the more expensive one, and the reasons sound sensible to me. Not always, but very often, paying more for something and getting something better is actually a better deal. The materials may last longer, and the harness may be more comfortable. However, some things are just plain overpriced, so try to make sure that's not the case. There should be a clear reason the more expensive one costs more.

The ComfyFit is lovely. It has buckle in traces, padded strap for the breast collar to surcingle attachment. In fact, a lot of harnesses don't have the breast collar to surcingle attachment. The whole harness is basically betathane with a felt liner and then pebble vinyl on the bottom so the harness is the padding. No need for extra fluffies like the current irritating pad I have now on the breast collar. Annyway, it does have really nice features.

Get it, then. Splurging for better quality things is always sensible, IMHO.

I probably will get what I want which is the ComfyFit. Good equipment just makes life better!!!! I've already saved up some money and I can afford to buy it reasonably soon. Let's see what the nice lady at the tack place says.

I also need to call this guy here in town that is an active member of the Nevada Endurance Driving Association. I heard I can get lessons from him and he lives close by.

Great! Maybe wait to get the harness till you consult the guy. He may have some input about that kind of harness which may help you decide for sure.

Yeah, I was thinking this guy might have some thoughts on harnesses.

He may even talk you into driving them as a team!!

I don't know, those two horses are two different sizes so maybe but maybe not!

Probably not for a while. It sounds like Nevada needs a lot more work before that would happen. But I bet the guy could help you train Nevada!

If you did drive them as a team, would you need to buy a new cart? Would you drive them abreast or one in front of the other? Which is better? These are all questions that would have to be answered. And then, once Nevada gets the hang of being driven alone, then you'd probably ground-drive them together before actually hitching them to a cart. It sounds like a long process. But maybe someday ...

Yes, I would have to buy a new cart since this one isn't designed for two abreast. One in front of the other is pretty exotic while two abreast is very common.

You are so right about Nevada not even being close to ready to go in a cart but this guy might be able to help me up my game with the round penning. The round penning does seem to be getting me some respect from Nevada so that is working out.

Little Wiseguy and I are doing pretty good in the round pen so hopefully Nevada and I will get there.

You have very realistic expectations, so I'm sure you'll be successful. I can't wait to hear more about the trainer and your lessons.

Thanks SandySu. Well, it is nice to trot my ideas about a new harness out but I guess I am not really ready to buy quite yet. I have been saying for quite some time I need to do something about the current harness and I am determined to do something [although I am not sure what] this year before spring driving season starts.

Well, laundry done, one burn pile raked and burned, dinner planned and orgazinzed. One round of hedge trimming done, sweeping and some vacuuming done...for gosh sakes, it must be lunch time. I'm ready to sit down and relax for a couple of hours.

Since March !!! And you two aren't hitched yet? Time's a wastin' away, Raven dear !!!!! If he hasn't proposed yet, then you may have to do a Sadie Hawkins on him. :thumb:

Marriage isn't everything. It usually spoils the relationship.
Sometimes yes and sometimes no. The problem with young people today, is that they take, but don't give, in marriage. Too many times, it's all about them and not their mate. Those marriages are doomed, from the start.
