I started out doing network design and installation back in the days of thick net, thin net and LatticeNet on a nationwide basis, several very large customers. I also did lot of IBM, token ring on type 2 wiring, stuff, again for very large national customers. That led me to Netware Admin. When I got outsourced, thank you Mr. Perot, I was running a 1000+ seat MAN with a T3 (big time back then) to connect us to the "world". That admin included everything from physical plant design and upgrades, to server configs, back-up (power and tape systems) and holding users hands. In the process I got into NT and Server 2000 as well, but Netware was my main server OS area. One of the things that boggles my mind is remembering bringing up a new server with a 32gig RAID5 array and thinking that was a tremendous amount of disk space. The desktop I'm on right now has 2 terabytes of drives, OK no RAID, and the single processor, quad core, blows away that two processor server from back then. My, how things change. Heck, I have 32gigs of RAM in my tablet and my broadband is way faster than a T3!
