Blues. THANK YOU for sharing Penny's story. Let's see there's Rave and Blues,Penny and Bill, but Lexi doesn't have anyone. Why is that?

Oh Lexi has someone, but he's a bit intimidated by her. She had a play date with him today. He's a black lab mix with 20 times her energy. He could run a full circle around her in the amount of time it takes her to blink. They do not have compatible personalities, but they still enjoy visiting with each other. I still get a bit concerned when they get really playful. She could just about crush him like a bug. Thank goodness he's quick!

Good Morning, Volties.

Penny is a great name for a dog Bluesman:)

My little Penney looks fine this morning. I'll be getting ahold of the vet and getting her an appointment for this week.

A lotta coffee and some Ry4, Freedom and Country in rotation in clearos on big batts:) I have two cleaning jobs today so I have to get ready and get outta here.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning Volties!

I'm running a little late today. I didn't get to sleep last night until way past my normal bedtime.

My daughter and her husband came over yesterday. My kids and I played our annual deforestation game. That just involves cutting down saplings and briers and vines encroaching on the house. When there is no lawn, and the forest comes right up to the house and says "Howdy", things can get a bit out of hand. Vines start tunneling beneath the siding. A thicket of briers makes it impossible to walk out back unscathed. Fast growing poplar and sycamore saplings start peeking up over the second story deck and obstruct the view of the ravine and creek.

About this time of year, when things are cooler and the ground is not a slithery mess, I announce that I'm going to cut back the woods during the upcoming weekend. Magically - I have two wonderful children that make time for me and do the majority of the work. I'm so darned lucky. How did I get so lucky?

That's good I've been worried about Lexi feeling left out. Wish I could see a pic of them playing together. I loved the pic of Lexi running through the woods I didn't Mastiffs could run that fast.

It's funny because when they play in the house, everyone needs to be prepared to dive for cover. One time Lexi cleared the coffee table and my son and almost ended in my lap! She knows she's not allowed on the couch, but she gets so excited she forgets herself. I have an extremely relaxed household; and so I don't mind if they get a bit wild with the zoomies indoors. I get crazy and playful with my son indoors, so she should be allowed that freedom as well. It doesn't last long. She's a little low on stamina.

You're welcome, Raynes. Your responses to the stories are appreciated. You truly are a wonderful person.

No I'm not. I've been doing a lot of thinking about what you told me about "know your limits". I've decided to retire from the rescue business especially horses. You take in animals that people have given up on. I took in foals that would have either ended up with great people like you or the slaughter house. More than likely the slaughter house. Your a rare breed.
I'll keep what I have and continue to work with them.

In 1969 a book was published which explains something called the Peter Principle. Basically it is a business model that creates failure. The Peter Principle states everyone will rise to their level of incompetence. What that means is someone may be really good at making donuts. So the business continues to promote that person until they are managing the people who make donuts.

That person has now reached their level of incompetence. They are no longer making donuts, they are managing people. And they stink at managing people.

We can do the same thing with ourselves. That's why it is important to know our limits. We want to save every animal that needs a home. But that's just not possible. We have to stay within our limits. Otherwise we become incompetent.

No matter what, I still think you are a wonderful person.

Thanks for the coffee, Blues, I need some extra today!

We keep thinking about getting a companion for Bo but so far it's a thought only, maybe someday. He can be a little "standoffish" around other dogs.

That's the way Dakota my first Rott was,she was old and I didn't want another Rott,I loved her so much she was so good but one of my friends kept on after me to atleast talk to a breeder. After talking to Mr Burns I felt a lot better,I just didn't want Dakota thinking I was replacing her. Anyway about a month later Dakota got to where she wasn't eating good and just depressed. The vet couldn't find anything that would be causing it so I called Mr Burns and ended up with Ugo. Dakota became a different dog,she had a mission,to train Ugo before she died and she did.
Some dogs like Dakota was are perfectly content being the only guard dog,I would have never gotten another Rott period if Dakota hadn't "told" me to.
All that to say,Bo will let you know, you have a great bond with him.He may love a puppy or a smaller dog

Good Morning in the afternoon Volties. I see I missed a lot of Chit Chat but I'm still too tired to read right now. We rode over 1000 miles in 2 days and all I was able to do this morning was get up long enough to take my youngest to school and came back home and went back to bed. Just woke up and all the Coffees gone and it looks as if someone ate all the cookies? ...? Maybe I'll take a nap! See ya next time I regain conscientious, figure around 6... Hey did the T-3s come in while I was gone? I'm starting to think it's just a rumor. Kanger has been selling a tank since last month that looks just like the pictures that have been posted and they even call it a T-3, you just have to buy the adapter for the X2 so maybe I'll just order one of those... I still think the Clearomizer is going to be hard to beat, good night.
