Afternoon, Volties!

I have brownies to share :) (No calories on those either!)

waiting for my WL stuff to ship grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Had a rheumy appt this morning,,,,,,,he thinks I have Ankylosing Spondelitis, or however you spell it. sigh. Had blood work, Xrays, and a kidney function test,,,,,he's going to put me on meds for it if the kidney function test comes back ok. I have one kidney, so he's just being cautious.

and,,,,,,that's it,,,,,read all, forgot all

Blues,I guess this is a good time to tell Zanne's story. Zanne is a gray PMU filly. She was 3mos old when she arrived. On her papers was a sticky note that said "Good Luck". She got off that trailer teeth bared, ears flat (couldn't even see them),and you never saw two people running so fast in your life and the other foals running with us trying to get away from her and all the foals were from the same farm!!!
I'm still pretty convinced she's a cross btw a snapping turtle and a horse. She didn't want you to pet the other foals as a matter of fact
it took forever for me to even get near them much less her b/c of her.
Zanne is 3yrs old now, and my brother-in-law who is my helper adores her,she wants no part of him period all she wants him to do is leave the feed bucket.
I told Randy he could have Zanne IF and WHEN I can get her trained just let me see how she does with me and for him to work on bonding. After we worked with Kola this morning nothing would do but we had to get Zanne in the round pen.
It was a VERY short training session. Zanne-1,Randy-0. I just pushed Randy over the panel and got grazed by her hoof on my shoulder. Thank God for Ugo.
Right now Zanne is in the round pen mad as blue blazes,I'm sitting here thinking about how I;m going to handle this situation and not risk getting hurt. To show Zanne a whip, lariat, whatever just makes her come on faster and stronger, she's fearless, has always been this way. These are the type foals that I've rescued.
Its time for respect and training them. I was saving Zanne for last to work with but Randy needed a reality lesson I was afraid he would try her on his own. The lesson he learned though was priceless- the necessity of bonding.

Raynes - If you aren't up for another rescue then don't do it. Each of us has to do the best we can with the time we have. I have rescued several animals but now that I am older I just feel like enjoying my reasonable number of pets. There is only so much time, energy and money available for me.

Getting a horse was a huge commitment for me. I love him dearly and would sort of like to get him a friend but....this is already a lot of time and money to spend so, for now, the little guy is going to have to have goats for friends. He doesn't seem too lonely and I am not frzzled by bills I really can't afford:)

Penny is the only dog I ever bought from a breeder. I decided we had the funds and I always wanted a Corgi. That was after my two old dogs passed on. Life without a dog is pretty unthinkable.

Raynes, excellent story. Bonding is so important. When that occurs everything else is much easier. You are a remarkable person.

Raynes, it is good of you to pass along some horse lessons to your brother in law:) And good of you to work with those rescued horses.

Penny is back from the vet. Nothing obvious going on. Her white blood cell count is a little low but he said he didn't think it was anything to worry about. We got anti seizure meds and we will start them this evening after I talk to Hubby.

I'm a little frustrated with my client who apparently forgot I was coming. Door locked and no one home. She hasn't called me yet either. Let's see what happens from here but I don't really appreciate driving 40 minutes to find out the client hasn't made sure I can get into their house.

More vaping and a cup of coffee ought to get me out of my funky mood.

I'm glad to hear that there is nothing obvious going on with Penny, and that you have anti-seizure meds for her. Not so glad to hear that your client locked you out after such a long trip. That's gotta be frustrating. Is there some way that you could charge her for your time and gasoline?

Sitting down, facing forward.
I hope Penny is OK Lizzie. Besides being a part of the family, they're worse than kids....they can't tell you what's wrong and we're stuck guessing, even the vet has to guess.

Brownies are a favorite, maybe I'll make some in the morning, Ghiardelli triple chocolate made with half and half, when I go I go with gusto!

Awww. I'd be in a funky mood, too. :(
Glad your pup is ok, tho. That had to be stressful, dealing with that, even if it is after the fact.
You need to vape and relax for awhile.
:)
If I could get some oreos thru the computer screen, I'd hand you one. Sugar always helps me.

Rayneesss!! Tommie is super happy as i bough him a bigger sleeping house and he's quite proud. He's just coming out of another shedding so he's a bit sluggish at the moment, but i got him some reptile spray to help with easier peeling. He's been spoilt. Hold on i'll go get you a pic

Reptile spray? What is it used for? How often does he shed?

Nope my Grandfather, you and Rave are remarkable. You knew what Penny and Bill needed and Rave plays with tigers. I'm not even sure my Grandfather would know where to start getting Zanne's respect.
I'm thinking a short riding whip pointed at her feet to keep her head down, and in hand work. Slow, short sessions. What do you think?

Lizzie,I've been thinking about you and Penny all day. I'm glad that they didn't find anything that couldn't be treated.
Maybe your client had an urgent emergency. Have they always been reliable?

Oh, I wanted to comment on the going to disney all the time

we have seasons passes for Floridians,,much cheaper :) and no parking costs :) that way, we can go for an hour or a day,,,,,and if my pain is acting up, we stay an hour or two and go home :) It helps that we live 30 minutes from there :)

Holly thank you so much for the Disney pics. I've always wanted to go and thanks to your pics I can !!!
My Mother has RA to. Your both troopers that's for sure, very determined women.
