You have to keep in mind the media hype, the total lack of common sense and people who just plain old haven't got a clue. The other thing is it doesn't happen very often here. As a kid, 7 or 8, I remember a storm back in the 50's that cut the barrier strip between Point Pleasant and Seaside into four pieces, three new inlets to the Barneget Bay. Haven't seen anything like that since, and that's almost 60 years ago (really 60 years, nahhh, can't be!). I think you better plan on getting those meds, this is looking like a real storm.

OH MY - Do I know about the media hype, especially living in Florida . . .;)

Don't remember that storm, but I have been though a few Hurricianes/Blizzards/IceStorm/Nor'easter too . . . :D

I'm going to wait till tonight to make a final decission - we'll see what happens . . . ;)

Wish "Me" luck though . . . :D

AND - THANKS ! ! ! :D

Well, good luck, for sure! I'm just sitting around watching the news and weather. The track has been updated and puts lanfall further south, around Atlantic City. That puts Philly and me in the "northeat quadrant" which has the highest winds and storm surges but keeps the rainfall down a bit, like five inches instead of five to ten inches. Any wich way it goes, it's gonna get pretty bad though and landfall is supposed to be sometime late Monday. It is windy here and I keep hearing planes doing takeoff rolls from McGuire AFB. That's been going on since yesterday, so they're clearing everything out that flys to keep them safe.

Good Morning Volties.

Thanks for the coffee. I needed that.

I thought it was Texas where the men are men and the sheep are nervous.

I might have to get Hubby into that thong and cowboy hat outfit. I bet he's go for it:)

Good luck with the storm, folks. Today is going to be pretty nice but it was a little cool in the house so I went ahead a fired up the wood stove around 8am. Why sit in a chilly 68 degree house when, for almost no cost, one can sit in a toasty warm 74 degree house? Heck, we've had the house so hot last winter that we had to open some windows to cool it down. That was our first winter with a wood stove. Looks like I made the right decision since it is turning cloudy and we won't get much sun to warm the house with this afternoon.

I placed my ordered at SI. I couldn't wait for the super sale code so I used the standard coupn code and my points. I was just getting too low on my new faves - 24mg Country and Freedom. I threw in some 555 at 24mg just for the heck of it.

I have a bunch of 18mg but I seem to mostly need higher mg to keep me from craving the cigs. I couldn't resist a couple more clearos because I love them for around the house. I do like the 18 for the afternoons. I also have cherry and watermelon in 12mg for that continuous TV vaping in the evening. Yummy.

I have 10 Ce3's in boxes still and probably eight working Nanos and 15 or so working CE3's that I am still using and refilling. Plus I have 4 clearos here but, since we are going into winter, I hate to get too low on anything. Never know when the mail might get delayed!!!!

Little Penny Poo Poo is officially on anti seizure meds. Poor little thing is really uncoordinated at this point but she will probably get used to the meds within 2 or 3 weeks and be something closer to her normal self. We won't really know how effective the medication is for at least two weeks since that is how often we noticed the seizures prior to her going to the vet.

We bought a generator a few years ago on the bonus check we got from the government a few years ago. We are on a well and we definitely need to have water since this is a desert and rural. We figure we are the last on the list of places to get the electricity back on for in an emergency. We can survive on our camping gear for cooking and we have some emergency foods but no water, no cooking either.

Last year we put in the wood stove. We wanted to be able to heat the house without using the propane furnace in an emergency. It is so nice to be able to heat the house for far less money than on propane. We get to heat to a warmer temp and there is nothing toastier than wood stove heat. It is one of those stoves that uses a baffle system and pipes to do a thorough burn so it is very efficient.

Guess that was a novel. Sorry.

Hi Lizzie! Glad to hear that Little Penny Poo Poo is doing okay. It may take some time to get used to those anti-seizures meds. I've been on two of them for quite a while, and I still wobble like a Weeble.

Now you've got me thinkin' about a wood stove. I have a fireplace which has saved my carcass more than once. When the old white oak, Grandpa fell a few years back, it was 13 degrees outside. We had no power for 10 days if I remember right. I worshiped that fireplace. My son is thinking about building a rocket stove into his house. We certainly have the available wood for a standard wood stove or a rocket stove. Looking at the bill every time I get a propane fill scares the bejeebers outta me.

Hello! I'm hopelessly back 60 pages and from the 2 I read - I recall I had not caught up then as I have no idea how SandySu is doing or what the heck theft happened to 1st Officer! I had to pop in to say I sure miss the humor and chit chat!

Rave: Love the pic of your German Shep racing thru the woods - past "your tree"!
Love ???'s dog furniture pic too!

The topic of being "Off Topic" - LOL! I thot that's what this thread was for! Any topic!
Really need to look at getting a second internet source - be it laptop or tablet!

Someone had a read a few books way back ... I have enjoyed a few new ones too! Some kindle some actual hardcopy!

My pain has diversified in ways I wish the pocketbook could! But I took the plunge and sat on my horse for the first time for all of 3 minutes - max. Thrilled but I want a saddle before I do it again! Too stiff to feel a sense of balance at all - holy cow! What a difference 22 years makes!

A ton of outside stuff to try to get thru before the cold sets in permanently (last Mon or Tues woke up to snow ... yuck!)

Wishin' y'all a great day / eve! :D

OK, being a cheapskate I've been thinking about a wood stove. I used to have one from a company called Sotz that I built out of two 55 gallon stainless drums laying down, one on top of the other. In the connector pipe between the two was a catalytic burner. It had an automatic draft and the combustion was in the bottom barrel with the top one being additional heat recovery. When running, the only exhaust gas was basically steam, the catalytic burner literally burned all the smoke and produced more heat with it. I used to heat a 2200 square foot house with it in the basement and used, maybe a cord or two a year.

All that said, after Rave mentioned a rocket stove I had to go look it up. OK Rave, where's your son getting the rocket stove or is he building it himself? If he is building it, where'd he get the plans? We're on oil, and only use about 400-500 gallons a year, but I'd love to do away with the oil bill.

We bought a Kuma stove that has a catalytic burner system. I think it is called Country. It is medium sized and more than heats up our 1450 sq ft ranch style modular home. The stove, hearth and stove pipe cost about $2700 and Hubby installed it himself. I did the tiling:) for the hearth. We had to have a mobile home approved stove and installation for our home insurance to remain valid and they charge us an extra $80 per year to have the wood stove.

We have cut our propane bill by to $800 per year. We do spend one or two hundred dollars on chainsaws, gas and wood cutting permits. So our heating costs are down by $600 or more per year [and propane isn't getting any cheaper, that is for sure]. So we figure we are paying the whole thing off within 5 years.

The big bonus is having heat if the power goes out [three days once in the coldest week of the winter] and having a toasty warm house instead of feeling guilty if I pushed the thermostat up.

Geez the visual, not enough Xanax in the world. I need Micheal Jackson's MD. Talk about PSTD.I'll never be the same again. I think my brain has been violated. (Bookmarks this for later reference) A motorcycle rider wearing a COWBOY hat??? Oh UHUH that's just wrong.
Gets a viking helmet complete with horns ---here wear this it suits you better.
Oh my Virgin Eyes! :shock::lol:

They also say adding aluminum foil under the ironing board cover allows the heat to emanate to both sides of the clothing at the same time...

I've got a pretty good ironing tip. Don't buy clothing that needs to be ironed. Ever.
I'm with ??? - haven't ironed since I quit the nursing home! TIP: along with that foil - don't get the clothes too dry before you start or keep a spray bottle handy! As a kid I loved to iron for my mom - never had to do sheets tho - or underwear (TMI!) LOL I remember when my sis was born (I was 9) and I thot I'd help mom - I starched and ironed a big basket of her diapers ... ( gosh what was mom so upset about? sheesh ... )

A co-worker has a copper X2 and that is as sharp as the silver. I loved my silver the best to. All my 78mm are silver they just have a better feel to them I think. The only thing I didn't like about my silver X2 is it was harder to hold on to out in the hay field.
Hmm I was thinkin about gettin a couple - figured they's be easier to spot outside when they fall out of pockets!

Go ahead she only believes what I tell her and she doesn't even know about the ECF. I keep my laptop locked up tighter than Fort Knox. Besides she is sure shes in charge so I let her have her little fantasy. Raynes, you are more fun than most folks here and I have to say I am somewhat surprised. Did I ever tell you about wife number 2 or maybe it was number 3, anyway she was a top shelf Horse Woman she showed in the Open Jumpers Class at MSG, Devon, South Hampton and the International Horse Show in Washington, not my cup of tea but I have been to all of the big shows at least once some many times, I kinda have a soft spot for women that ride horses and most of them have a soft spot for Bikers. I know all kinds of things about Horses most of which I never wanted to know.
OMGosh! She has lived what I can only dream of!

Moanin, Volties! Sorry about the coffee, I slept late (7) and had some final chores to do before the storm.

@jaster - How'd you do that so fast? At the rate I'm going it'll be another decade or two before I break even, but then again I'm a little OCD and believe that if two is good, 50 is better and 100 is about right.

@Officer - The visual, you, chaps, spurs and a sheep.....I guess in VA men are men and the sheep are nervous.

All battened down, car and truck gassed, lots of gas for the generator, gutters clean, everything tied down and lots of food and vaping supplies on hand. It's a little cooler, about 58, and the wind is starting to pick up. I'm far enough from any moving water that it is not a real worry, but I'm sure 206, the main highway I use, will go underwater pretty quickly when the Rancocas Creek starts flooding as it surely will. Now it's just a waiting game which gives me time to try all the new flavors I ordered from WL. The vape mail was tremendous yesterday, SI, WL and XV all on the same day! Y'all stay safe out there!

The biggest problem I have with domestic duties is getting the seams on those fishnet stockings straight. That and those pesky high heels make it a little tuff!
Fishnets: just slip 'em on quick - then bend over w/ a mirror behind you - quickest way to straighten em. Heels: just keep walkin on your tiptoes. Like a ballerina - your feet will get used to it! :D

Yeah, I put my order in yesterday....(sigh)...but was running out of ry4. :(
But I think I'll be able to find another couple things to order with the coupon.
Need to order pretty soon too. RY4 has become a favorite. I'm really sorry to say I succumbed to the hype and tried a couple VV-Twists. They were both dead at 35 days (out of warranty). While the form isn't my favorite - I am liking the ease of cleaning of the mini VV Nova's ... while I wait for the ship to come it with the T3's.

Hi Lizzie! Glad to hear that Little Penny Poo Poo is doing okay. It may take some time to get used to those anti-seizures meds. I've been on two of them for quite a while, and I still wobble like a Weeble. oh no fun - went that road with a husky ...

What's a "baffle" type wood stove? What's a "rocket" stove? We have a "barrel" stove made back in the '70's out of a fuel drum from the war (extra heavy duty thick!).

All the talk of domestic duty sharing ... boy do I miss the days when hubby and one of the foster kids would do supper while I was out doing yard stuff with one of the other kids! Massive heart attack and I learned plumbing 101 quick - changed my first flat. Amazing what you can do when you have to! Hubby always tells people he sent me to the "your last name" school of wife obedience training:
beat daily for 2 weeks w/ a chain. After that you only have to rattle the chain. ( Pfffttt - right. He just "thinks" so! ) :D

Thanks for the offer but Viking Helmets don't do a thing for her believe me I've tried. If I want to really get things going I add the Chaps, Boots and Spurs. I'll stop there in case you are low on Xanax... I just say living out here in the sticks we know how to make our own fun. Here's a visual to leave you with, sometimes I have to give her lap dances.... :D

NO YOU DIDN'T !!! Oh the SHAME of it !! What are you the Son of Sam's twin brother ??!!! Not the Tony Lama's too !!!

Hey, I am trained, I do as I'm told hahahahahahaha, you're funny! It's not my fault that the young women go for the older Biker types. If you spent a Friday or Saturday night at the Clubhouse you really would need MJs Doctor. I'm here now cleaning up the carnage from last nights party, Bloody Marys all around, hey where did this sheep come from?

THAT'S IT just get out of the sandbox. I'm calling 1-800-SAVE-A -SHEEP. Where was Mrs Officer during last night's party?

She had you mucking stalls huh? Probably had to,to keep you out of mischief. Can't say I miss the rodeo days,I don't even miss the show ring, but I do miss working cattle, and I miss riding, one day I'll be able to again. Bikes are in your blood, horses are in mine. Glad you are able to ride again Officer. As much as I hate to tell you this, you "Cowboy'd Up" really well. (Must be sleep deprivation from your visuals).
