Hi JoAnn - Yep! There are quite a few animals lovers on this thread. And a few animals as well. Welcome!

Sorry for the delayed welcome., but we've been a little distracted trying to make sure that everyone that's been enduring Sandy is accounted for.

I'll have you know I resemble that remark! I can't help if I was raised by Wolves. Ok this phone is killing me so I'll check in later tonight when my eyes uncross... Glad everyone made it through SANDY.

So did he like send you smoke signals? No matter as long as he is Ok. :D

Carrier pigeon, of course!

No - He lost power last night but he's got generators, so he and the other families weren't in the dark. But he didn't have DSL until today, and without cell service, he couldn't contact me.

Who else do you think I could possibly be referring to?

Those of us who no longer have young eyes should just automatically also purchase a magnifying lens for these newfangled cell phones. And why, I ask, do they always make the print on bottles of medicine so freakin' tiny that you can't possibly read it unless you have a magnifier?!?! Are they tryin' to kill us off so they don't have to shell out Social Security? :grr:

Kontantine, the 22 is the preferred "hit" gun. High velocity, low noise (easily suppressed), low recoil and good penetration and fragmentation. For it to "bounce" you better be wearing body armor or have skin like about 12 or 16 guage high tensil steel. My preference is a .357 or 9mm, but a .44 works really well too! Remember, Ronald Reagan was almost killed by a .22 and James Brady was terribly wounded by that same gun.

Just a quick message to wish everyone in Miss Sandy's path best wishes. Please stay safe, and don't take any unnecessary chances.

I have been so worried about my sister, but we got good news today. Took her for more imaging tests today, and her breast cancer scare is now officially over. She has "complicated cysts" and needs to go back to be re-checked in 6 months. It was so frightening, and thank God, it is over now.

I'm so happy with this outcome. :D
Oh no fun - SIL went thru that several years ago. Glad to hear it's not the "C" ... loose too many needlessly to that IMHO.

Hi everyone! My 1st post to this thread.

There seems to be a lot of animal lovers here judging by the avis I've seen. We here in Maryland seem to have been spared the worst of the damage from Sandy as compared to those north of us.

My thoughts and prayers go to all who have to deal with massive cleanups and/or repairs.

Uncle, I hope you make it home soon!

Welcome JoAnn! What little fur-babies do you share your life with???? And as you've most likely noticed (see below) - humor is alive and doing VERY well here!

Welcome JoAnn glad to have you aboard. I think most of us here are friends of the little furry creatures (even the big ones) that allow us to live in their world. Just one bit of advice, Sheep Lie! so don't believe anything they say. Oh and Raynes has the Handcuff Keys, in case you needem. :D
LOL! ETA: Now I'm concerned - not only are your eyes crossed but you hear sheep speak ?????

So happy to hear everyone is doing "well" considering ...
AWSUM: your barametric readings remind me of someone from work at the Nursing Home ... She had gauge she always watched during Tornado season ... Wish to heck I could remember what her lowest (marked) was when a tornado hit our area. She always kept us posted.

Didn't make it here yesterday ... Morning dentist apt. (not good - stitches) and afternoon errands ...
"Sandy" makes my worries nothing ... 2nd property sale just evaporated ...

Take care all ... those in "clean-up mode" - be sure to do a little stretching before you dive in ... be safe!

Sitting down, facing forward.
Hi JoAnn. Yes, there are lots of animal lovers, lovers of animals, animals who love animals and a few animals lurking around this thread. Wanna candy bar little girl? :)

Been kind of busy starting to clean up. It didn't look too bad, but so far we've only gotten about a quarters of the back yard done. About a cubic yard of twigs and small branches, not to mention broken fence posts and a ton of leaves. There was a drift of leaves about a foot deep in front of our sliding door to the deck, south side of the house, and another about a foot deep in front of the driveway gate, on the north side of the gate. Beats me, the wind does strange things. I'm just glad no one suffered really severe damage here and my son, daughter and sister are OK with no real damage either. Watching the local news, the damage at the shore is worse than Hurricane Hazel in 1954 and that one was really bad.

We took a little ride to check on the availability of gas and the station nearby is open and pumping. There's a lot of road closures due to trees being down and lots of areas with no power. We did call the power company to report no power and got no estimate of when it might get restored. At least FiOS stayed up, for now, although one of the set top boxes has died, so I can't watch TV in bed, what a hardship.

I hope everyone else here, and your loved ones, is OK and just has some clean-up work to do. Thank you, everyone, for your concerns.

Picture of my little boy is to the left. His name is Spanky, a Cavalier KING Charles Spaniel. He really thinks he is a king and rules this house. Alas... I guess I made him that way.

Thanks! Spanky is a "Black & Tan" CKCS. Beethoven does have more of the Cavi look but he seems to incorporate the best of both breeds.

Hmm - thot I saw the beginning of a white throat near the jaw / ear in your avi. Gosh - don't know why we can't click for a bigger pic on them!

Pet Lovers: Need some help with tangles? LOL - today was the first time I noticed it's for grooming DOGS / CATS & Horses!
used it on tails - there is water based silicone in it ... really helps get out mats (behind long doggie ears) - bedding sorta slips right on out!
Beethoven loves it because it's not stinky & cuts down on static / fly-away hair!!! Kelco brand "De Mat"! May have to get it by the gallon!

Magnifying glass: I'd sure be lost w/o mine! I have the adjustable arm w/ light ... before moving to mom's I had it in the kitchen near the stove! How many FireFox users have the Taskbar Magnifier app??? (quietly raises hand)

Has anyone else seen that yellow house at Union Beach NJ (on Wx Channel)? I'm still shakin' my head on that one ...

Still no word from Larry huh? Keepin y'all Easterners in thots and prayers ...
