Sitting down, facing forward.
"Mornin Volttatics! Coffe is on and later I'll have some fresh apple fritters to go with it.

When I was a kid, as in 5-10, my grandparents had a vegetable farm, OK some (5000) chickens and a couple of milk cows. Anyhow, in the summer I worked on the farm, planting and picking. Picking anything is hard work, even at that age. On the other hand, it'll keep you in good shape! Shoveling chicken manure is hard work as well and tests your ability to breath in a not so nice way.

The videos I've seen of the shelters here in NJ and NY showed large, heated tents, sort of like dorms. I don't know about cell phones and texting, but at least there's heat and a dry place. Not much, I know, but better than nothing. There are still people without power and it will probably stay that way for a while. The physical damage is very extensive along the coast and no power company has that much inventory of equipment no matter how well they try to prepare. I got a laugh that Governor Cuomo was incensed that LIPA ran out of power pole. Yeah, they did, there is a finite supply of them and more than that were destroyed. LIPA sure isn't innocent in this, but running out of poles is an almost expected problem when the damage gets this bad. Why didn't the Governor ask FEMA or the President to assist with getting more rather than complain and blame?

Good Morning Volties! Thanks for the coffee Awsum and apple fritters.

One sure thing about growing up on a farm is that you knew all of your veggies and other foods were fresh and not contaminated like so much of the food that we cityfolk have to take chances with in the supermarkets. Who knows how long they have been sitting or how many hands handled it before it get to the store shelves. You were very fortunate in that. So many of the kids now just sit back and have everything handed to them without the benefit of learning to work for it.

It is mind-boggling to see the amount of damage that was done in that area. How do you "recover" from something like that? Hopefully the aide continues for as long as it takes. So many people lost everything.

Well.. I'll check in later after running a few errands.

Thanks Awsum for the coffee. I can't even begin to fathom the damage there on the East Coast. I know when hurricane Katrina came through it was a bureaucratic mess in LA,MS,and AL. Every go'vt official wants to point fingers and no one wants to come up with a plan IMHO. Guess they forget that WE are the ones that dictate whether they have jobs or not. Sometimes I think we forget that "We the People " are in charge.

Good Morning, Volties. Thanks for the coffee Awsum.

I guess I better get off my lazy .... and get something done today:)

At least I'm not in charge of Thanksgiving dinner next week. We agreed to meet in Carson City to have the Turkey Buffet Day at one of the casinos that has great food. Nobody has to cook. No one cares how clean your house is. And we each have an hour or less to drive instead of an hour and forty minutes. Yeah!!!!!

I will miss the delicious left overs.

Sorry to disappoint everyone but I didn't even see the Biker Barbe until after reading about it and backtracking, very funny looks like a girl I know. Anyway glad everyone is still kicking. I've been busy bailing a few over zealous Brothers out of the hoosegow and tutoring my youngest in Trigonometry. She is prepping for her first shot at the SATs and the math as usual falls into dads lap. As for Rave and Blues, I am at a loss? I read back several pages and can't figure out whether they just burned out or got insulted by a post? Anyway if it was something I said then well jeeze get over it already... I think it may have been the post where blues said shake a Vets hand and if you missed it this year then do it next year all the while I thought everyone knew it was Veterans Day and we had been celebrating it all weekend. I can understand with all the repairs Blues had to do after Sandy but Dang don't blame me if you don't know what day it is... We celebrate Veterans Day all year in fact it's one of the things our club takes a firm stand on... Sorry Blue but Grow some skin!

One last thing, Uncle you seem to be a very funny guy as long as you have your graphics, but how about you say something intelligent once and a while? I have a 16 year old niece that does nothing but search out graphics to post on forums as opposed to actually adding something intelligent to the conversation. You must be a real hit with the teenagers on Face Book. I thought we were adults here but apparently the drama queens have taken over the thread along with the Oh my god I feel like an Idiot folks no matter to me I am who I say I am and I do what I say I do, how about you? Sorry no cartoons just straight out facts!!! I am very disappointed in the childish behavior I have seen here and some people should take stock in their actions and words. This was a good thread with true feelings and now it has fallen to the level of a middle school drama fest!!!

Wow - I leave for a much-needed vacation with Blues, and this is what happens? We are still on our getaway, but I was notified that this was happening. Many people have been hurt by these comments. These are good people and they are my true friends. They have stood by me through thick and thin. It is their thread, and they have always treated each other with courtesy and grace. Then, you directly attack two men that I love dearly. All of this was out of the blue - with no provocation.

First of all - Blues and I are on vacation. This is what I said in my post. If this was about something that you said, do you think that so many of my friends would've "liked" the post where I announced we were leaving for awhile? This is not about you. And, if you actually knew Bluesman, and the caliber of the man that he is, you would just be ....... embarrassed by your comment that he should "grow some skin".

And then there was your attack on Uncle. I care deeply about Uncle. He is a very intelligent man. We all know this. This thread has always been a place where he could feel free to be himself. He has used that freedom to make us smile and expended a good amount of effort to do so. His good humor is only outweighed by the way that he genuinely cares about people. There have been many times when I was in despair or pain, and Uncle's posts have made me smile and laugh. He is an uplifting force in many lives.

And then there are others who are now doubting themselves and wondering if they've done something to offend others. Those are the very people that have done the least to offend anyone.

Please don't soil this thread with negativity. These people deserve a place where they can come and smile and laugh and share virtual coffee ... and just be free to share what's going on in their lives. I'm deeply disappointed in you.

Hey RAynes, packing fruit is hard work. Hubby's mom used to do that every fall when they lived in Colorado.

I must say Ry4 with a splash of butterscotch does sound good.

Sucks not to see your horses. I would really hate it if I couldn't go out and feed and talk to my little guy twice a day or more!

Hope you get you property issues settled.

Hey Lizzie that's Kicco not me you are replying to here, I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets names mixed up. Kicco WILL get to see her horses she's too much of a horse lover like us to go without seeing them

Oh Awsum, I love farm life. I love being physically tired and mentally stress free.Fresh veggies, digging in the dirt, smell of freshly plowed dirt, fresh cut hay. Heck I even like splitting firewood.

While I don't mind hard work or getting my hands dirty, plantin, pickin and splittin just ain't that much fun anymore, come to think of it, it never was! I will admit that splitting firewood used to give me a way to vent any anger. It was fun to imagine who a certain log might be as it sat on the splitting block.

Hi Everyone!?? Just stopped by Chatsville to say hello.

Welcome back Officer you were greatly missed by all!

Hi Raynes and Lizzie: You both seem to like 555. I may try that also. Do you like Ry4? Now I'm waiting (impatiently) for my SI order of Ry4. I've been very curious about that flavor after reading so many ECF threads about it. I'm beginning to fall out of love with menthol which is most of the liquids I have now. Even when I'm not vaping, it seems the menthol taste stays in my mouth... UGH!!!

Awsum: I can't wait for you to get your vape mail. PLEASE let me know how you like the iTaste as soon as you can.

Uncle: Where are you today?

Ok folks.... that's enough for now. I'll check back in a little while. Later :)

JoAnn everyone has different tastes.Personally I'm not a fan of RY4 its too sweet to me. I have some though b/c sometimes its the only thing I can taste and sometimes I do like it. There are several folks here that love RY4 . One thing I can just about promise you is what you like now, your gonna dislike at some time or the other and if your like me then a few mos down the road you'll start liking it again.Vaping is an adventure.
BTW there may come a time when you get frustrated and reach for that cig, hey its OK if it happens don't beat yourself up over it. Just look at all the ones you have avoided by vaping

Sorry, Raynes, confused is my normal state of mind some days:)

Hope you get that message Kicco.

I love planting and gardening and feeding my little farm pets. If I was younger, I would definitely be living out on a ranch or a farm but this city girl is far too old to be taking up ranching full time. Hubby cuts and splits all the wood and he hauls most of it into the house too. I am spoiled. I do help him stack it when we go wood cutting so I am not completely worthless.

The description of RY4 seems to be something up my ally. I can't wait to try it and really hope I like it. At least it's NOT menthol. AND...

I really HOPE to avoid cigarettes. Not only for me but also for my daughter. She smokes cigarettes and wanted to stop so I gave her my Volt starter kit. At first she continued to smoke about two or three cigs a day and at times she would beat herself up because she saw that I stopped immediately and didn't smoke any cigarettes at all. I didn't put her down about it but tried to keep encouraging her to stay with it. She started with 18mg of nic. but I gave her some 24mg just for those times when I felt she needed a stronger jolt. Its been about 3 weeks now that she has not picked up another cigarette. She looks to me as a "role model" and for encouragement. I can't let her down. I'm hoping and praying that will be enough to keep me from slipping back.

OH PLEASE !!! Stacking is hard work especially when your feet are numb and a stick of wood falls on them. OUCH !!! and that's mild in comparison as to what I say when it happens

Uncle I read your blog. Thank you for all that you do to help others,no telling how many lives you have saved counseling or how many people you have helped lessen their depression. I meant to post this last night but I had to get ready for work.

I read it last night too. It truly was inspirational.

I've really come to like RY4. Now that I DIY I cut the amount of flavor down to make everything more subtle and less sweet. I still like SI RY4 though and keep a clearo full for when I walk Bo. In fact, I've got to order another bottle From SI or I'll run out. I've got my own version of sort of an RY4 that's a mix of a tobacco, chocolate and caramel cappuchino that's really growing on me.
