Hi everyone, hope everyone is doing awesome on this fabulous day. Do I sound happy and upbeat? Well, I am!

First things first, I want to wish a big

C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! ! !

to Debra & Tail for hitting their 6-month and 1-month anniversaries of no ciggies. Way to go to you both.

I wonder why they felt that the T3 mouthpiece had to be so big! I mean honestly... even if it was round, it could have been smaller.. but that thing is HUGE. Was the designer drunk or something... tried to test it but couldn't find his mouth? Did they have a baby bottle fetish?

Well, you've already seen my posts down in the T-3 thread. I am REALLY trying to like this thing. I've been vaping on it all day today, but I just can't get used to the airiness, even with 2 of the holes plugged. I can't get a throat hit at all using the same juice that gives me TH in my X2 clearomizer. I was looking at that humongous tip today, and I noticed that the air tube goes up thru about 2/3 of the tip. Maybe you're onto something with the baby bottle fetish.

Especially on a 1300... I have to be careful when I'm getting ready to take a hit.. so I don't poke my eye out.

I need to stop in here and post something before all of you forget about me. Just joking. All of you are way too kind. I appreciate all your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes. The mark of a good life is when one has friends like all of you. I am truly fortunate to have all of you with me.

Raven has been on the roller coaster of my health. She has stayed with me and remained strong. Her support and friendship has helped pull me through.

This didn't go as smoothly as it should have, but I'm up and around and healing. If all goes well, there may be a chance of going home this weekend.

Okay, folks. Carry on and have fun. (White Rabbit, you are a blast. You've given me many good laughs. Treat him nicely, ladies.)

Wow, this is great news !!!

So glad to hear you're improving enough to be discharged soon. We've really missed you around here. So glad you had Raven and other friends to keep you going. Yep, that Raven is a real gem.

I have spent about an hour or two browsing the Volt Picture Contest thread and collected pics of :
awsum140, Chief Packabowl, dwsime, Element_Baz, Moonstruck, Rave, Renolizzie, Laptop_Ron AKA Thread Killer (squirrel), Uncle, and Yokymo. Your all are beautiful friends. Debra, you need to post a pic, get some freebies and let us see that Australian beauty. It really is nice to place a face with everyone.

Gasp!!

All kidding aside, yes, Debra, you should post your pic & testimonial. It's worth 80 Voltie points, enough for another battery or a few clearos or something.

good thinking cheers...yes i think....i might have to.....my dad is at me abit....he wont be happy till i say zero....and then he"l start on.....giving vaping up.....just wish he would be happy i don't smoke anymore....

Why not just keep the nic level private and not tell him what it is. I think it should be a personal choice, not something dictated by someone else. If he wants to discuss your nic level, just change the subject. If you want to reduce it, do it at your own speed in your own time. I think it's a personal choice, not something someone else should be involved in, unless it's to help you do what you've decided to do already, such as the folks here suggesting a more painless way to reduce the nic level.

Yeah, the pre-med thing happens when you get involved with diets and foods, that or chem major, LOL. The factors involved are probably more complex than even the experts know.

Another trick I used was that terrible word "exercise". I joined a gym and used to go three to five times a week for a few hours at a time. Then we got an elliptical trainer for the house and weights and a weight bench. I know most women don't like the idea of pumping iron, but anerobic exercise can also help lower blood glucose as well as regulate to keep it more in the normal range and weight training doesn't mean you need to use heavy weights and look like Arnold. I did use a whey supplement as well and that also helps you feel full and avoid those wonderful carb filled snacks we all love. The biggest trick will be finding foods you like and can eat regularly that help control your glucose.

I think exercise is a highly underrated solution to many health problems. Taking a walk around the neighborhood every day is free, and it can do wonders with very little stress to your body. Of course, these days, I should follow my own advice, though it's cold out there, and the roads are icy, and walking isn't much fun. I've heard good things about those elliptical machines. My brother and his wife have one, and I gave it a short try when I visited over Christmas. At my physical therapist's, one of the receptionists mentioned ellipticals and said how much better for you they are than jogging, since there's less pounding on your legs. I think getting a huge machine like that is not in my future, though. First, nowhere to put it in this little apartment, and 2nd, I think I'd get bored with it very quickly. In addition, it looked expensive, and I bet it's beyond my budget. Walking is OK, but I like my exercise built into something I'm doing, like horseback riding -- and please don't think the horse does all the work! Only those who haven't ridden think that. I hear swimming is good, too, and I'm hoping to do more of it this summer, since my arm would benefit from the motion, I think. I found that walking was a lot more interesting when I took a camera along and took pictures of anything pretty or intriguing I saw along the way.

One thing no one's mentioned yet that's supposed to lower blood sugar is cinnamon. I'm not sure if vaping cinnamon counts, though. But if you can find a way to add a little to your food, it may taste more interesting and be good for you. The problem is that cinnamon is so often paired with sugar.

I bought an exercise bike not too long ago. Weight bearing exercises play heck with the arthritis in my knees. This getting old thing is not what it's cracked up to be sometimes. Definitely not for wimps!

Try swimming. I knew someone who had arthritis and went to a special swimming class for arthritis sufferers. Swimming is supposed to help. In fact, exercise is supposed to help. It may hurt when you first start after a rest, but as you loosen up, it feels better, and it keeps arthritis at bay.

And here it is friends -- Just for you Debra - This MADE my morning:toast:

land down under.. men at work.. with lyrics - YouTube

I met a lady from down under, where women glow and men plunder.
She made me nervous and I wonder. Just who is that lady making thunder?

I wondered what the word" chunder" meant, so I looked it up. It means to vomit, throw up, upchuck, etc. Just in case any of you wonder about chunder.

Simple carbs are the answer, without a doubt, but as you point out they are expensive for some reason I just can't understand. After all they are, by definition, less refined and processed and only so much can be passed of as less in demand.

One thing that I've found is that pumpernickel bread or bagels, for some reason, doesn't spike my glucose like even rye does. Everyone is different and that's why I mention monitoring your glucose at about two hours after meals to find out what the heck is going on. Yeah, it's a pain in the fingers, I don't trust taking a sample from my forearm after some empirical testing of my own, and it can get a little expensive for test strips, but after a month or two you'll get a handle on things and can drop back the frequency of testing. Cinnamon sort of works for me as well and I forgot completely about it, but it doesn't help my wife at all. Everybody and every body is different.

Interesting that some things work for some people and not others. But it makes sense. What about fruit for your sugar fix? I believe the sugar in fruit is digested more slowly because of the fiber. Am I right, you diet mavens?

Welllll ... that stinks! I just went through five pages of posts - reading and laughing my tail off. I dutifully put check marks in the lower right corners of all of the ones that I wanted to comment on or respond to. Then, I accidentally closed the ECF tab! @#%$!

So, I'll have to apologize for not replying to the individual posts. Raynes and White Rabbit and Debra had me cracking up so much that my son and his gal had to know what I was laughing about. There were so many things that I wanted to comment on. But alas, my memory is like Swiss cheese. *sigh*

Blues and I are back in direct communication. YAY! As he reported, he's getting there - slowly but surely. I'd go crackers if I had to be in a hospital that long.

Just had to share a few pics of the sunset last night. It was amazing! The photos don't do it justice.

Blues! So good to hear from you. That, to me, is a very positive sign that you are getting better. You and Rave are in my thoughts every day, a lot, and I hope all the get-well vibes are helping. If you are going back to where you left off, I bet it'll take a long time till you catch up to where we are in Voltville, but we want you back ASAP. Thanks for posting and reassuring us all.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Elliptical trainers are kind of expensive for a decent one, but worth the money. I have bad knees and a treadmill makes them ache too much, but I can go for an hour a day or longer, every day, on the elliptical without a problem. The big problem is getting motivated enough to do that. When we lived in an apartment it sat in front of the picture window in the living room so I could enjoy the view out the window or turn on the TV and watch a movie. When we moved, the movers hated to have to move it, it weighs about 300 pounds and nothing to grab so they had to use straps. Now, it's in the basement in the "weight room". I do have a TV/VCR setup and can always take the tablet or laptop along if I really want to watch a movie, but generally just some music or even talk radio keeps me occupied. The one we have has an adjustable stride since I'm 6'1" and my wife is 5'4". Our stride length is very different and most of the machines gave me hip problems, go figure with bad knees.

I still think some weight training, even with very light weights, can add a lot to any exercise program just to "tone up". Many exercises can be done while seated to take the strain off the legs. Curls, front raises, lateral raises, tricep curls, presses and a pile of others can all be done sitting and then there's the long list that can be done while laying flat, preferably on a narrow bench for added range of motion. It's not how much weight that's important, it's all about form and control.

Rave, what an amazing sunset! Do you think, as I do, that it's symbolic of Blues getting better so that he has posted here? Both the news of Blues and the photos are so upbeat that they lifted my spirits.

Rave, great photos! They popped up when I posted a minute ago and I couldn't figure out what happened to the color on my screen! Shooting at sunset, or was it sunrise, like that made for a very dramatic effect.

Sandy, one of the things that my carb efforts has produced it to make me a fruit eater, as in five or more a day. Some fruits have high GI indexes and others don't. By eating a mix the effects can be mitigated a bit. Again, if you Google "GI Index" you'll see what I mean and can make your own choices. I've come to love apples, pears and bananas and eat one or two of each every day.

I'm wondering if lifting some small weights might be in my future. I have those physical therapy exercises, after all. Right now, I'm using thera bands, which the physical therapist sells me at $6 a piece. I just graduated from the yellow one (easiest), which I had doubled up to make it harder for some exercises, to the blue one, which is a lot stiffer/thicker to make the same exercises more challenging when I use a single thickness. The doubled yellow and single blue bands are about the same. These bands are flat, long strips of stretchy material (rubber?) that I knot and fit in the crack of a closed door, then pull on in various ways with the injured arm.
