I think magnolias are very pretty when they blossom. I have a couple of them behind me. I do not like how they hold dust during our dry summers. Their leaves are strong like plates and those funky cone droppings always seem to give my lawn mower troubles. The city planted rows of these trees along my back fence. In my front yard and all around the circle, they planted mulberry trees and I quickly found out that I'm allergic to them. One of my dogs who grew up in Maryland prior to us moving to California was also allergic to them.

So I have pretty trees front and back, but dealing with the allergies from them is a pain. I do enjoy their beauty though.

It seems everyone likes flowers, so here are more: foxglove. Very pretty, but poisonous. They make digitalis from them.

waterfox is a 64 bit version of firefox.. kind of a beta browser but I like it. It uses firefox profiles.. so I didn't have to reinvent all my addons.

I just returned from visiting Penny. Though it's very, very muddy with the recent big thaw, Penny was fairly clean. What does that mean? Has she not been rolling or lying down in the pasture? I groomed her a bit more thoroughly than before. Each time I go to the barn, I'm able to do a little more. I was able to brush her mane and forelock. Penny is trained to lower her head when I ask, so I was able to reach the forelock and mane near her head, but as I worked back toward her withers, the mane got higher and higher, and I had to strain to reach the last section at her withers. But I did it. The handle on the brush gave me just enough reach. Heather brought Penny in and turned her out, and while I groomed Penny, Heather groomed her horse, Freska. Freska is basically white, and she was a lot dirtier than Penny, who is chestnut (coppery brown). Why is it that white horses always like to get dirtier than brown ones? And it's not just that you can see the dirt on them, either. They seem to enjoy becoming brown like their herd mates.

Wiseguy is mostly white and he loves to roll in the dirt. I put him in one day and he laid down and rolled immediately. I kind of took it as a compliment that he trusted me

Well, bread baking day again today. 2 degrees overnight and 16 degrees out right now so we aren't spending much time outside despite the sun shining.

Moonstruck, here are some more magnolias for you, since you said you love them. Maybe this will make you think spring. Yes, it has to come someday, even though it seems far off now.

My girlfriend picks these and put them in the house. They smell wonderful.

Over here, we are experiencing springlike temperatures, close to 60 degrees and I'm not complaining one bit! It's been a foggy, rainy dreary looking day but since I have not been out, that's ok too. Spanky doesn't like going for walks on days like this either. He just goes out to take care of business then back in quick as a flash. These temps won't last long however, but for now, I'm loving every moment.

Ha, ha! There have been days I've gone to the barn when it's muddy, and she has coated herself. As I walked out to get her then, I'd shake my head and call her Pigpen.

Just arrived home, checked in and 5 or 6 pages of new STUFF. Glad to hear that we have a bunch of TECHIES on board. The last 10 years of my banking career was spent as CIO of this small bank. I built their network from scratch, managed it for some years, then from home via a direct network connection for another 5 years. Personally I love Win 7. I have adjusted things so it looks and feels just like XP. It even runs on a tiny Atom processor laptop I have and is almost as fast as my tower.

Glad to hear everyone is feeling better, hope to hear from Blues soon. Catch you all either later tonight or in the AM.
