I guess everyone (with the exception of the pacific NW?) got a taste of this unseasonable warm weather. It's been in the upper 70's/lower 80's here in N FL for 3 days now, and expected to remain for the next 4-5 days.
So I went out and washed my vehicle this afternoon, and got wrapped up in fire ants. Those evil things are supposed to be dormant in the winter!!!
Luckily, I only got a few stings, as I do the "fire ant dance" very well indeed.

Some people suggested I post my photos in my profile page. I'm not sure how to do that, though I might look into it and see if I can figure it out. But if you want to see lots of my photos, I posted a bunch of then on Flickr at Flickr: Sandy Su's Photostream You don't have to be a member to look at them, but you do if you want to add a comment. I'm not sure if nonmembers can see them, but if you can, look at my Favorites. Those are photos taken by others on Flickr that I especially liked. I think you will see some that put mine to shame.

I'm so sorry to hear about the ants! But I had to Like your post. I had to laugh when you mentioned the fire ant dance. I could just picture it. I got attacked by ants like that one time. I'm not sure if they were fire ants, but they were reddish brown. I must have stood on their anthill, and they started to climb up my legs and bite! I'm not skittish about bugs, but that freaked me out. I hope you weren't too badly traumatized.

Here's another flower to remind us all that spring will come. Trilliums bloom in early spring in shaded areas, like in woodlands. These white ones are fairly common, and I've also seen dark red ones fairly often, but last spring, while riding Penny in the woods on the farm where she's boarded, I saw pale pink ones for the first time.

It's been a chilly day here in Northern California. Whisper is embedded in her blankets and we've been watching football all day.

Fire ants. Those things are horrible little creatures with a piranha like bite! Glad they didn't get you to badly!

Yea! Except I just bought an Ego twist from AltSmoke. Crud, I'd have waited if I knew this was coming. :( Looking forward to reading the reviews!

I'll have to wait a little bit too but at least we know that SI is finally listening to their customers. I was hoping that was the surprise Imagine was talking about. I really want a purple spinner to add to my collection. Purple twists/spinners are hard to find unless it's a knockoff. With SI, at least we know we're getting a quality product.

I think SI has always listened to what people want. They try to provide it. It takes some time for them to contact their supplier, give the specs, have them made, test the result, and then market it. Even then, there can be glitches with a new product, and some refinement may happen after its original debut.

I'm with you. I go out of my mind at over 90 degrees F, which I think is close to 30 degrees C. I'm willing to put up with cold winters here, though California weather more suited me. When I lived in Redwood City, CA, the temp. range was pretty much ideal.

However, CA got really expensive, and my family is on the East Coast, so this area is ideal -- beautiful scenery, fairly moderate temps., and somewhat close to family.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Glad to hear you're doing better, Moon. Chronic illnesses are no fun to say the least.

I have come to dislike the cold a lot. I know, you can always put on another layer to keep warm, but it gets a little olde after a while walking around looking like Ralphies brother in A Christmas Story. I'll take 75 to 85 with 50-70 percent humidity. Although I was in Albuquerque once in early August, it was about 110. I was in a suit and tie, yeah during my formal working days, and sat outside having a hot dog and coke and never even broke a sweat. I was in the shade, but the air temperature was around 110...of course the humidity was down around five percent or so. I don't know that I'd want to work in the sun in those conditions, but it was fine in the shade.

I live in the central valley - Stockton. I would love to live in Redwood City where it's cooler in the summertime! It gets well over 100 degrees in the summer here! Great for the vegetables, but us humans don't like it very well. But, I wouldn't trade it for the east coast. Thankfully, there is no humidity which always got deep into my joints and knee when I lived back east.

Oh BTW, it's still expensive as ever!
