Sitting down, facing forward.
We are far enough north to have missed the snow last night and it's already up to a balmy 27 according to my thermometer but the wind is back again with a vengeance. I am going to fire up the snow blower after lunch, they are predicting snow for tomorrow afternoon and night and the amounts are kind of "iffy".

Glad you got your internet back, Debra, even though you're probably in lala land.

I probably do have mini radar!!!

They are so cute. I love how mine makes little horsey noises.

Hubby went out to feed this morning since he is being my "You don't feel good, I'll take care of you" hero:) Wiseguy likes to stretch his mouth way open like "this is going to be good, I'll be chewing in no time". Then when you get over there with the hay, he likes to give a little nicker of happiness.

Sorry to here you are feeling poorly Lizzie. When that happens to me I snuggle into bed with my pal "Jim Beam" hot toddy and sleeeeeep.

Glad to hear Debra is back up and functional and that it was actually not her computer but the WiFi service.

I am ready for lunch, quick nap, shower and off to cook again for our homeless shelter. They will be in early today because of the snow and fridgid temperatures. It is a shame that our facility cannot house them 24/7 in this weather, but every morning at 8:00 AM they have to go out into the cold. We open again normally at 5:00 PM, but on days like this a few of us get to the church at 3:00 PM and try to open so they can get out of the weather and cold.

Stay warm, those of you in the USofA, and Debra, stay cool.

Or perhaps it chugged it's way up but didn't have enough to keep going! I always wanted a bug like that. Not the new ones today, but the retro ones.

I had a bug....I think it was in the early seventies, but it was old when I got it. Mine was green. It was fun to drive. Except in deep snow or up one of our long hills. Going up one really long hill, I was down to second and was worried I'd have to stop and finish the hill in low gear....just barely made it. lol

Hi Everybody!

Well, yesterday was the first day since last Thursday that I didn't have a fever and felt somewhat close to normal. I think it was just a head cold, no real flu symptoms. Massive fatigue though, like I am walking around with 20 wet blankets on me.

I worked Thursday until after 10pm. It was miserable, I should have called in. I didn't leave my house until Tues morning for work, except one quick trip to the mailbox and dumpster. I slept most of the time, and I love Nyquil, although I forced myself to stop it Saturday, like the stuff too much.

Anyway, I missed a lot of threads, I mentioned not feeling well on page 1964, lol, made it through another 30 pages of threads than gave up.

I read some posts about liking old video games and it inspired me to post a couple of links you all might find useful.

This first one is for a site I have been going to for years, and have downloaded many programs from there. Be sure, if you decide to download something, you only click on the link to download the software. It is a daily software giveaway site, mostly photo touch up programs, dvd burning / copying, converting software but also good utilities etc. Worth checking out, and never have had a bad program or anything nasty loaded on my computer after downloading 30-40 programs.

Giveaway of the Day - free licensed software daily. Today: Flip Image - Flip Image is an easy way to create animated flipping digital photo albums that behave like actual photo albums. You ...

This one is kinda the same thing:

Software Giveaway of the Day - Free from BitsDuJour

This is the game one, lots of puzzle / match 3 / hidden object games. Most are simple. Got a great mahjong game from here also. They really only offer games on the weekends:

Hopefully some of you might find some useful stuff from these sites.

Anyway, have a great day everyone!

The continuing saga of my arm. I went to the physical therapist today. This time, instead of the regular person, I saw one who specializes in hands and arms. He consulted with my regular PT and looked at my x-rays, then worked on me after reviewing the exercises I've been doing. He thinks we should wait till March before making a decision about the surgery the doctor recommended, and he thinks with the progress I've made, I probably won't need the plate removed. Whew! It was so disappointing to think of having to start over, not to mention going through another operation. It looks like I may be keeping the plate.

Glad you're in a better place with that shoulder. Give it some time and regular exercise and it'll come back to what you had before. If the therapist doesn't think the plate has to come out and unless the surgeon made a big mistake putting it in, you're far better of working slowly and steadily back to normal.

That is encouraging news Sandy! It shows you are really making great progress. Keep up the good work, and hopefully that pain and discomfort will diminish too.

I'm making progress. It's easy to tell by how far I can reach compared to just a couple of weeks ago. That's why I was so devastated by the doctor's pronouncement. I thought I was doing so well, and instead, he said I'd need another operation. That really took the wind out of my sails! Over the last couple of weeks, I've started to feel better about it. I still thought I might need another operation, but I was getting used to the idea. I also realized that I've come a long way as far as flexibility and use of my arm, but I still have a long way to go. Sometimes I just get impatient and say, "All right already! I just want to be back to normal!" Then I realize that many people will never be back to normal, and even having that possibility is a blessing. I guess my mood about it all veers from being impatient that I'm not all healed by now with a determination to just keep working on those exercises and notice the progress I do make. I haven't thought lately about further surgery, and when I do, it's in a sort of unemotional way, not like when I first heard the news. I am dealing with it the best I can, I think. Mostly, I'm in a plucky mode, focused on stretching just a little bit farther when I do my exercises or reach for something on a shelf. I'm the kind of person who rises to a challenge, if the challenge isn't hopeless. And the physical therapy is giving me a lot more body awareness. It's interesting, and it's incredibly similar to the kind of body awareness that riding lessons gave me. I had a riding instructor who used the Centered Riding technique, and that's based on a lot of body work and tai chi, and stuff like that. Very New Age. When I do the exercises, it's important I hold my body in a particular way, just like riding. I'm amazed at the similarities, and I'm thinking the PT exercises may actually help my horsemanship. So that's where my head's at these days.

Goooood Morning Volties NEWS:

We got about 2 inches of light snow here on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay and I had to do a "little" drivway shoveling. Thanks for the coffee I am frozen, however the temp is moving up a little.

Debra emailed me from her phone. Her computer is down, so she won't be posting until she can get it up and running. No word on what happend, so I can't comment. However she sent me a photo of a stand she purchased so "her X2 Soldiers can now stand and salute"

If she can't get on line, I will try and relay any "worthwhile news" from her via email and post it on line for her friends.

Hellow everybody, I am building a tray very simular to that, for my stuff.

Good Morning -

Thanks for the coffee. I don't think I'm feeling 100% for the last couple of days. I can fight this flu off, I can , I can!!!!

Okay, I don't feel awful but I don't feel great either. Maybe I'll feel better as the day goes on. Kind of a weird sore throat and I slept until 7am.

Hi Deb.

Lizzie, eat lots of chicken soup followed by a hot toddy then under lots of covers. (I always wanted to be a doctor on TV)

Debra, if you want to see some shots of things frozen around here in the US take a look at the NBC Nightly News site for a video tonight. They had a shot of the fountain in Bryant Park just about frozen solid, and that fountain is about fifteen feet tall.
