Tail I never understood the reasoning down here in the south of all the things folks stock up on its bread and milk. Canned meats, beans galore stocked to the roof and you couldn't find a gal.of milk or a loaf of bread if your life depended on it. When I was a kid I asked about it and not even my Grandparents knew,it MUST be a southern tradition.

LOL, it must be Raynes! We had a milk man for years. I think I was around 10 years old when mom finally had to start buying milk from the grocery. She did have the powdered stuff for those just in case moments when my brother would drink it dry.

Mom always had a good supply of food in the house. We had a big freezer full of stuff too. She grew up on a farm and I guess she realized how important it is to have a fully stocked pantry.

Basilor, you could probably make vaping T shirts and sell the heck out of them. I shopped around and found that SI has the cheapest ones out there. Others are going for 35 bucks! I'd rather get a few bottles of juice or a new tank for that!

I'm not a horse person, but that T shirt is mega cool!

SI vaping T's are the bomb. They feel already broken in. I work out in mine.
Yes Bailor's T's are VERY cool. Just think Tail biker leather, that horse T,and Whisper. SHARP !!!

Hubby is making me a lunge line and a lead line. How long do you think a lunge line should be?

I'll look for the answer when I get home.

Have a great day everyone.

Make a longe line no longer than 30 feet. Also have a lead line that's 12 feet. Start working with him on the shorter rope. Use a longish stick, maybe about 4 feet long, with the shorter rope, and a longe whip with the longer line. You want him under control really well and able to respond to voice commands before you use the long rope, because when a horse gets that far away, sometimes he thinks he's out of your range and doesn't want to listen. First, practice with the rope so you don't get all tangled when you work with the horse on the end of it. Fasten it to a fence or something, and practice letting it out and coiling it up and changing the whip and rope from one hand to the other when the horse changes direction. When this is all smooth with the fence, try it with the short rope with the horse attached. Just ask him to walk at first since he'll be easier to control at a slow pace and you won't have to think so fast what you're doing with the rope. Get him to go faster (from halt to walk) by standing sort of behind him and waving the whip. Get him to slow down by standing a little ahead of his path and holding the whip up toward his front end. Also practice whoa and walk voice commands till he mostly responds to your voice, not to your body position and the whip. Wear gloves with a good, grippy palm so your hands don't get a rope burn, even if you think it's unnecessary. Remember not to wrap the rope around your hand but to loop it so that if he pulled away and you let go, it would fall free, not wrap tightly around your hand. Also keep the tail of the excess rope off the ground so you don't tangle your feet and legs in it and trip or, if he runs off, get dragged.

You can use the 12 foot rope for a lead line, but if that is too long, you'll have plenty of rope left to make a shorter one, maybe 6 feet or so, for just leading him, tying him to groom him, etc.

That's probably all the rope you'll need, so that's why I wondered why you got so much. I'm sure you'll find a use for the rest of it.

As for attaching the rope to the swivel snaps, a really neat way is to thread the end through, then weave the loose end back into the weave of the longer piece. It's something sailors know how to do, but I don't. If your husband doesn't know that, either, then wrapping the end to the longer section with duct tape works, too, though it's more makeshift looking. If you want to try weaving the rope, there are online instructions. See dasnr.okstate.edu/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-3185/ANSI-3926web.pdf

You NEED snow ???!!!!! Did you hit your head on something or have you been hitting those alkaloids?

LOL! I really did laugh at your comment. I know I'm weird, but I really like having snow on the ground. I've wondered why I get sort of excited watching snow come down when everyone else is cursing. I think I learned this behavior when I was a kid. When it snowed a lot, school was closed, and instead, we got to go sledding.

So far, no snowstorm here. I did see about 3 tiny flakes falling when I went out to get the mail, but nothing that will amount to anything yet.

Well, as I look out the window, yes, there's a flake falling here and there. Maybe it's starting.

That would be! And I do like the SI shirt. Going to pull it out for a vape meet this weekend!

Nothing like veggies out of the garden, especially home made vegetable soup and cornbread cooked on a wood burning pot belly stove.

Sounds yummy! I'm going to get started on a pot of vegetable bean soup in a few minutes. Have to finish my smoothie first!

I can't imagine how it would feel to see someone just as if you or I were standing having this conversation only for a person to tell you they aren't there. How it would be to be afraid to speak b/c your not sure if the voice is real. How it would be for someone to tell you, your not "normal". How utterly alone and scared they must feel b/c no one can look beyond their abnormalities to see the person inside or try to feel their pain and their frustrations. To have people be afraid of you,b/c your "different".

I was just thinking, with all the horse nutrition stuff yesterday some input from Blues would have been good. I wonder how he and Rave are doing? Haven't heard from either lately, not even a "like".

Rabbit, you jinxed me. We rarely have power failures here even though I'm kind of in the woods. I read your post and about twenty minutes later the laptop screen dimmed and everything else shut off. Power was out for about a minute then came back on. I've got to get a trunked scanner so I can follow what is going on with PSEG.

The rain has increased and the temperature has gone up, just short of forty right now. It dropped earlier this morning and I thought we might be in for more than predicted, but guess not. I can still hear the heavies taking off from McGuire, getting out ahead of the weather.

I've been wondering about Rave & Blues, too, and I know others have as well. I sure hope they are OK.

For many years I owned a t-shirt printing company. We did our own southwest designs which we sold to retail outlets and airports.

The economy and other factors got me a few years ago, and I closed the business.

This was my best selling shirt and I really gotta get off my .... and sell the remaining 300 or so of these on ebay again. All this horse talk keeps reminding me of them, and I thought you might enjoy seeing it.

Also, I didn't realize this forum offers direct attachment of photos, I thought I had to go through photobucket, so trying out attaching directly.

edit:Sheesh, having a cup of coffee and reading again about horses, start this post...3 phone calls later, return and finish this post and see a page of threads about snow with this one suddenly shoved in there. Looks kinda stupid, sorry.

Also, was supposed to rain today, but it's actually a beautiful blue clear sunny day. Do I feel guilty while you all suffer? Not at all, cause this is why I endure 115' in the summer...:p

That shirt is gorgeous! How much are you selling them for? Could I order one via PMs to you?

OK I read the info which was very enlightening after I looked up all this substances. WTA's are alkaloids and this is what each one is broken down into:
Nornicotine-carcinogenic couldn't find where it really did anything
Anabasine-nicotine acetycholine receptor agonist-which means that it can block nerve transmission causing asystole (can stop the heart)
Anatabine-shows a promise in treating antiinflammatory disease and Alzheimer's ---it is a GOOD alkaloid when broken down.
Myosmine- this alkaloid is why some ppl don't get satisfied with a nicotine fix-When its broken down it acts as a stimulant such as ephedra and its addictive counterpart --........
Nitrosatin and Nitrosonornicotine are both carcinogens.
Now the MAOs-there are two classes of these--MAO-A inhibitors are anti-depressants and anti-anxiety chemicals they keep the good neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine where they need to be within the nerve cell.Serotonin and Dopamine are natural and also synthetic.Prolonged stress CAN cause a decrease of these chemicals and what we do is draw labs to see which neurotransmitter could be low so think of these as a supplement. MAO's are the LAST resort synthetic antidepressants with foods containing tyranine(sp?) it can be fatal.
The MAO-B transmitters they think are linked to mental illnesses esp schizophrenia.
That takes care of the physiological part as to why some people don't succeed with just nicotine, but IMO there is more to it than that, and that's the mind itself. If it was all physiological then why can some people go through withdrawals cold turkey and substitute life savors or gum and are successful? Why doesn't the nicotine patch or gum work for us instead of the ecig?
As far as schizophrenia goes and for those of you that are interested you REALLY need to see the movie "A Beautiful Mind" its a true story about a college professor who has schizophrenia. I have that video and watch it often. Its inspiring with a happy ending.

Thanks for all the info. I tried some e-liquid with WTA, and I didn't notice a difference in satisfaction, so at least for me, WTA didn't do much.

The thing that gets me about this storm, Nemo (I think we may find Nemo between today and tomorrow), is the media frenzy it's causing. This morning , the local news was all "dramatic remotes" of salt being loaded, brine being loaded, plows being installed and trucks going out to battle this "terrible' storm. Problem was it was just sprinkling a little rain. I'm sure we'll get some snow, maybe a lot of snow, and folks north of here will be getting a whole lot of snow, but that's happened before, pre global warming, and will undoubtedly happen again.

One thing I always wonder about is where all the snow shovels go from the last storms? Another favorite "dramatic remote" is at the local Home Depot or Lowes. They love to show the empty snow shovel racks. What the heck do people do with their snow shovels, throw them out 'cause they're used? I still have the same two snow shovels I bought ten years ago and they still work fine. Beats me, but then again I'm a cynic by nature :)

I agree with you. They get all excited about some snow, as if it's never happened before. I was saying this to Bill this morning, in fact. Here's my theory. First, they want to show folks that the snow plows and salt are ready -- they aren't asleep at the job. And people love to get scared that some disaster is about to strike. They really do get off on being scared. I think their lives are so boring that the stimulus feels good. It's sort of like riding a roller coaster. The fun of it is being scared. Also, being in an unusual situation along with everyone else is bonding. I remember after each earthquake in San Francisco, people would call in to radio stations and say they felt it and books fell off their bookshelf or something like that. People love surviving together some event like an earthquake, it's more fun than discussing the weather, especially in Calif., where it's sunny day after day. What do you say? Gee, another sunny day?

Appropriately, I'm getting all excited because those stray snowflakes are thickening. It's really snowing now. Not hard, but bigger flakes so I can easily see them out the window.

It rained here yesterday, so it's not always sunny in California! ;) Actually we need more rain.

(was replying to Raynes comment....forgot to "reply with quote")Not too many people that understand.
Thanks. :)

Hey - on a happier note - I just did my first DIY last night. Toasted Almond. Turned out decent. Someone posted a link a few pages back - was it you - to a guy with a how to blog. I read what he said to do....mix everything except the nic, boil hot water in the microwave, put the bottle in the boiling water (after you take it out of the microwave), let it sit for 10 minutes. Take it out, let it sit for another 10 minutes. Then add the nic. Shake. Then it sits for 30 minutes on a shelf. Shake. I let it sit overnight. Tried it this morning and it was pretty good. I did end up adding 3 drops of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, just to sweeten it a little more. I like sweet vapes. I was impressed with my bad self!! :vapor:
