True, Alienware has always been pretty awesome, but the real Dell stuff is pretty crappy. I know - I own one, and it's the worst laptop I've ever owned. That's why they're so easy to find used, and there are so many forums on them. But I think there are more complaints on hp stuff just dying for no reason. And I think Samsung anything is just plain garbage. Maybe that's why I'm not liking my Dell laptop (Samsung components).

With Dell it's all about avoiding any laptop they are pushing, I have a Dell XPS...can't remember the model and it's rock solid and fast.

OK, that one's not too bad, but between that and an Asus for that kind of money, I'm going with an Asus next time. Well built and decent components all around, from what I can tell. But my mac gets upgraded first.

Good evening, Volties. Got my cleaning job done. I hustled because the aunt is visiting and said the family would be home early. Nothing gets on my nerves more than people walking all over my wet floors

"Oh, is that floor wet? I just need a cup of coffee. Oh, and a sandwich." "Oh that's okay. I'll just go over it again with a damp mop when you are done there:)"

"Oh, are you cleaning this bathroom. I just need to put enough make up on for a Japanese kabuki theater production and then I'll be out of your way." "No problem. I'll come back later:)"

"Did the dog just pee on that floor?" "Not to worry, I'll be mopping in a few minutes:) They are so cute when they are bad, aren't they:)"

I avoided most of that today. I saved the upstairs bathroom for when the home owner got home so I wouldn't have a forty minute conversation instead of getting my cleaning done. Yeah, sometimes when you have a plan it works out. I yelled from the top of the stairs "Hi". The aunt and the homeowner left after only 20 minutes of doofing around and the parents went into the garage only and didn't track up my floors. Wow, red letter day for me. Woot!

I picked up a bunch of rocks on the way home to fill in my landscaping out front. Wow, maybe I will get Hubby to hook up the trailer so we can get a whole bunch in one day and he can do most of the heavy lifting. At least to get them in the trailer. I could take them out of the trailer over several days.

Rocks are free if you don't count the aspirin it takes to get over hauling them home:)

Interesting computer talk here.

Have a great evening, Volties. Hubby is picking up Chinese so no cooking or dishes for me. War Won Ton soup and I can't decide what else yet.

Happy (Good) Friday, all. All this talk of mods and new computers...I still haven't purchased a Spinner :want: And I actually pray for my computer to keep working.
Right now my dentist is getting all my money...someone tell me why dental insurance is so lame? Granted, compared to health ins, it's not too pricey, but as you get older, you need more than a filling or two twice a year. And the cost of a root canal or crown, or prosthetic is incredible, and ins only pays half of that. It's like they just want you to have everything pulled and not replaced--hey! That's it! Talk about a light-bulb moment. The less teeth you have, the less they have to pay, hmmm?8-o
OK. Rant over.

Hey Lizzie, The Eastern Shore of Maryland is one of those places where people have to buy rocks.

In Western Maryland they pay you to haul them away from the mountain slag sites and people do just that, haul them to the Eastern Shore and sell them for the price of Gold. Since there are no boulders or rocks of any kind on the Shore, people pay $200 to $500 for a big boulder to put in their landscaping. Also if you want river rock for a garden, a wooden box full about 4' X 4' X 4' costs $125 plus $50 for delivery. How about them apples.

Here are some rocks for you, Lizzie. Plenty of them around here. This is the shore of Cayuga Lake.

We live on a sand dune but there are rocks within a few miles of here so I guess I'll just keep getting my free rocks.

I'm pretty sure I could have some rocks hauled in and but I am cheap.

What cracks me up is the bag of river rocks at IKEA and Michael's. I looked at a coworker one day and asked "who's gonna buy a bag of rocks?" Then my sister came by to visit and she had some in her cart!

Wow, talk about way off subject:

OK COMPUTER TECHIES, GEEKS AND NERDS, I have a RAM question for you:

Here's what I need:
DDR PC2700 200-pin SO-DIMM
Unbuffered
Non-ECC
DDR333
2.5V
Cycle Time: 6ns
Memory Clock: 133Mhz
64meg x 64
Crucial Product ID CT434057

Here's what I have:
DDR PC2700 200-pin SO-DIMM
Unbuffered
Non-ECC
DDR333
2.5V
Cycle Time: 6ns
Memory Clock: 133Mhz
64meg x 64
Crucial Product ID T516890

Will it still work, or will I kill my mac? (one of my sticks just died, and I'm pulling RAM from an old Toshiba Satellite - everything's exactly the same, except for that last one)

Yay, you're here!

Actually, I just double-checked and they're identical in every way. What worried me is that Crucial has different product numbers for both. So it'll work?

Of course, their price is much higher for the mac one. That's the only difference I can find.

I would suspect that Crucial has a different part number for the Mac just to make the price difference. It's probably the same memory, at least effectively. It may have a higher QC level on the Mac version, but it's going to be essentially the same thing for more money. If Konstantine says it'll work, I am absolutely, positively sure it will.
